8 hours ago I didn't know anything about transmission's. My 46re was acting up and not shifting on time and downshifting into 2nd at 50 or 55 if I let off the gas. Thought for sure I was going to have to buy a new tranny. Thanks to your videos I was able to change the filter, removed and cleaned the governor pressure solenoid & did the band adjustment just as you described. Just got back from a test drive and all problems fixed! Shifts so smooth you almost can't tell it shifts. Thanks for the videos! Very much appreciated.
I did exactly what this video said to do and did so without a torque wrench. That was two years ago. Thank you.
Amen
I often do hand feel tightening but since I am not familiar with vehicle work vs machine shop or gun work I have been hoping that the wrench I bought is accurate to ensure I get it right till I get used to how it feels in all these odd angles while working on soft muddy dirt and what not squeezed under my vehicle (instead of in a nice shop standing environment LOL)
Great videos. These provide a lot of good info. However, the tranny is on a bench. I had to adjust the bands with the tranny in the truck. Used a crow's foot wrench for the nut on the outside of the case. I put a piece of tape on my torx socket and marked it with a vertical line - so I could tell the rotation. Still not easy but doable. I did everything listed in the video, and my truck is shifting great.
OMG I'm gonna Hang my tie up this weekend and based on this video see if I can Save myself $550 & get my transmission to stop slipping by doing just this to both screws & not to worry I will replace the Pan gasket and filter along with the Spring and refill with ATF + 4 transmission fluid because it's a 2001 Dodge ram 1500 5.9🤘 Dude YOU ROCK 🤘🏆😎🤙 thank you so much for taking the time to show us this🤗☮
So far this is the best video I've found on a 14 bolt transmission band adjustment thank you so much For this excellent video
I adjusted my bands for the first time on my 2003 Ram 2500 Diesel, with this same transmission being used in this demo. Didn't have a inch torque wrench, I loosen lock nut an then I tighten until it felt snug. Once I felt the adjustment bolt tight, I backed off 2 turns. I must say the problem between 1st an 2nd I had at times is gone. I ran my truck loaded all day on a 240 mile trip , not once the transmission acted up between 1st an 2nd gear. My transmission shifts smoother an like when it was new.
I would loosen that just a bit more, only 2 turns out is a bit snug on that front and you run the risk of pre-maturely wearing that lining.
right around 2.5 Turns out as they suggest here is just about ideal, some run at 2 1/4 turns out but not more tight than that.
@@Quadman808 the factory service manual says 2&7/8 turns on the front and 2 turns on the rear...
am i missing something? or who what specs should i trust ?
Thank you for your videos! I just ordered the Governor Pressure Service Kit for my 46RE. I wish I would have found you all sooner as I paid $1400 for a shop to rebuild the tranny on another truck, when it probably just needed the sensors and band adjustment... Live and learn!
trans shops are such fucking scams
Much Thanks for recommending checking the spring, low behold that was my issue, broke in 3 pieces, never would’ve checked it otherwise
And oldie but a goodie! Just did this today to my son's 1990 D150 pickup. I did the band adjustment under the pan, but no way to reach the one on the outside with the linkage and all of the other stuff in the way. I was hoping not to have to remove it, but may need to. The 3-4 accumulator spring was also broken, too. :-)
I came out there in person and got the kit for my 5.2 jeep to replace the solenoids , Your shop is close to and it tows way better and shifts perfect , Great vid ! I did adjust the bands when I did the install , But this vid helps a ton . thanks ! THUMBS UP MAN ..
+ShawnMrFixitlee thank you for the kind words!
Thank you soo much. Ser for your video it was very helpful for me I was stuck on it thanks God I found your video thanks again 👍🙏
Best how too video ever, thankyou.
Great video! That's how you do it!
This video helped me out so much. You have fan. Thank you. I do everything myself. Enjoy it. With your help. I feel proud when it’s right.
Great video, but just FYI: 72 inch lbs is 6 foot lbs, not 8 1/2.
Glad I'm not the only one that realized this
Great videos. Thank you
Thankyou!
Perfect job !!!!!!
Thank you so much for the information
Thank you , for this useful video.
Great Video King!
Amazing video
Was just curious to see what type of socket I'd need for the adjustment. I got that plus tons more valuable info. Thanks! That outside band adjustment screw is going to be a pain in the butt to get too while attached :(
there's a couple styles of adjustment studs, the squared one normally a 1/4" socket will work good
the other ca be a reverse torx or allen, sometimes just requires checking to get the correct tool
very helpful thanks!
Dude awesome thanks
I adjusted the bands twice already. These are easy to do. I don't really like how this transmission comes together and functions but it is what it is. I've babied this transmission for almost a year. I babied a GM 4L60e for 5 years..a one year only variation of 4l60e that was going to be almost 4 grand to reman. At least I'm not in a 96 because that year was a transition year (early were RH and late year and actually called the 97 were RE and there were wiring differences..a few oddities...so at least it's not a 96. My 4l60e wasn't rwd and it wasn't for the V8 so there were only 4% of the total production of the 1 year only.. that's why. I've been walking like I'm 105 since I changed the gov solenoid and transducer but oh yeah if you consider that being worth a damn I guess come get me.
Thanks a lot I was wondering how to adjust the band
+TheVintagetamiya no problem! If you need anything for your automatic transmission please be sure to check out our website!
Thanks very helpful
Two questions . Will low reverse band adjustment cause buzzing/moan in reverse when first cold started in 42re Jeep? .. and what symptoms does the broken 3-4 spring give?
Nice work 😍❤️😋
I wish these guys would do one on the 1980s T5 world class Borg Warner 5 speed manual
Now this is a good video!
Holy wow, great directions. I assume this also applys to a 76 AMC/Jeep DJ-5 232 with Torqueflight 727 transmission??
Hello - yes this applies to nearly all rear wheel drive models with bands - TF6 / TF8 / A904 / A727 + many others
Transmission Band adjusting can be intimidating , but really fairly simple - Thanks for your kind compliment !
I have a 46re AT in a 2002 dodge ram 1500 4x4 . throwing a P0783 code ( 3/4 shift malfunction ) . I have used the pressure solenoid kit to replace all solenoids and switch in transmission. new filter/fluid. no metal in pan. it is still throwing the P0783 code. would adjusting the bands solve this issues of the code coming back ???
If you don't have a torque wrench, you have no business messing with the bands in the first place.
That’s what I was thinking too lmaooo. I was like who tf doesn’t have a torque wrench
@@devin3156 some people have em,but they don't know how to use em,
Agreed. Torque specs are imperative in transmissions.

Quick question please! I need to order a filter and gasket for my 97 Dakota 5.2. But when i went to your website to order, it stated for 98 and up! Where's the filter and gasket for my 97 44re?
wondering i have a dakota 3.9 4x4 2000.all gears work ,reverse seems to engage get slight movement if I help by pushing with one foot ,but basically doesn't seem to be going in all the way .. would this be related to this problem or not. thnks
I have a 2001 1500 two-wheel drive with a 5.2. all gears shift normally but when I hit any kind of bump while the truck is in overdrive it slips a little bit. Other than that it shifts just fine. And my transmission fluid level is spot on. Would adjusting the bands help with this issue or do I have other problems?
I'm curious to know if it should be in park or neutral when making that front band adjustment as well as the rear band please and thank you. Also your video was very helpful
Awesomeness!
The turns depend on the model. Some call for 2 7/8 turns some 2 1/2. I've always found these accumulator springs broken. In every trans. Quality shift kits include a new one.
What are the symptoms of a bad spring?
Often there are no symptoms....I find them broken when I install the Transgo kits.
@@billcat4331 well so much for hoping it was that lol. My trans doesn't shift until the rpms are over 2k not sure the problem. Ive replaced the 2 plug in parts 2 days ago and not much change. It's seems to shift smoother through the gears
@@ketchupmustard5465 I know this has nothing to do with transmissions but has your utube changed recently? I lost a Library of over a thousand videos...all my subscriptions..the content is a bunch of fluff crap...no current conservative news....
this happened like 20 minutes ago. I reopened utube and it had gone to shit that quickly

Quick question, I’ve got a 01 5.9 Cummins Automatic , Would the bands Not being adjusted properly cause the Clutches to not grab ( Slip when accelerating, an Burn up ? ) all out of No where I’ve got a Horrible Hopping and the RPMs go from Normal to 2grand - 2 1/2 when accelerating from 40 to 50mph. But ONLY does it in that range An Seems to be ok when Warm.. Doesn’t do it nearly as Often. Other then that she seems to drive great.. No leaks , Heat Gauges are Spot on. No grinding Or even Clunking into gear..
My Jeep isn't wanting to shift in to second. But if I manually shift it shifts fine but. Around 50 it starts pulling down hard. And do believe it only shifts into 3rd maybe 4th definitely won't go into 5th and pretty sure only goes into 3rd any suggestions.?
I’m seeing conflicting info regarding the rear band 30RH and 32RH. What are the torque specs and back off turns? Thanks
I have 2001 gas burner automatic transmission four-wheel-drive 5.9 gas the reverse wasn’t working so I tightened up the band and the first gear or the one you adjusted on the outside my reverse works fine but when it shifts out of first gear that the truck acts like you hit the emergency breaks and slows down fast
Hi,,I have issues, but my check engine light is not on would it be
Pressure Solenoid ? I have a 1997 dodge dakota 318-5.2-4x4--146.000--The truck shifts in all the gears but it slips or bump into gear..Trying to say it slips little and lite harsh shifting..Please if you can get back with me..THANKS !!
Does you have hd or high performance governors for a 46re 4x4? And what is the name of that spring? I put those governors 2 years ago from mopar and fail again,
Would this video apply for a 2013 ram 1500?
Thank u
Thank you. But the book says back off front 3 and rear 4, so.....is your version updated or something, just asking, sort of confused.
Just wanted to get confirmation on how many turns to back off. I have a 99 durango with the 46RE. My manual only coverd the turns for 42/44RE and each lists different number of turns. I have searched the net and found a posting listing the 46RE as "Front band back off 2 7/8 turns" "Rear Band back off 2 turns". I see in the video above you did 2.5 on front and 3 on the rear. Which is correct for my 46RE?
According to the factory service manual, you back off 2 7/8 turns for the front band, and 2 turns for the rear band.
hello does this only work for rwd I have a 99 5.9 4X4
awesome video, well made, i need to replace my transmission filter in my 95 ram auto, can i just adjust the otter band and be safe or would i have to adjust the inner band also? thanks!

My outside adjustment tensioner was spinning freely it would not tighten to spec so I just put the lock nut back on and now it’s shifting fine? Doesn’t make sense but it worked
to clarify the front band stud spins freely ? If so it must be stripped in the case; not sure how long it will hold.
If it worsens and you end up building or recasing the trans we're here to help; we stock everything for these transmissions.
Glad it helped for the short term on your issue.
At approximately 1:16 he says tighten the front band to 72 inch pounds or about 8 and 1/2 foot pounds but all the online conversion charts states 72 inch pounds equals 6 foot pounds. Was this a misstatement by the narrator of this video ? Would it be 8 and 1/2 foot pounds or 6 foot pounds ?
72 inch-lbs / 12 inch = 6 ft-lbs
I got a jeep grand Cherokee 4×4 42re it's got 287563 miles on and it won't release 3rd gear i put all sensors except i didn't adjust 3rd gear what adjustment do I use.
I've been rebuilding automatic transmissions 45 years , I just go by feel if it feels right , lock it down 👍
So do I have to loosen it even if I am using a torque wrench?
do you have a video or information on adjusting the bands on a 32rh, auto for jeep tj
From what I can tell 32RH is the same as the A999
So, according to the service manual for my 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.0l with the 42re transmission. The front band is supposed to be turned out 4 an 5/8ths turns. Are the 2.5 turns that were covered in this video accurate?
in our industry many builders slightly vary what they like,
the info mentioned in this video is what i use and much of our industry rebuilders use.
* once set then slight modifications are often done 1/8th turn at a time or so
hope this helps
In the haynes manual it says for the rear band to back off 4 turns (44RE V6)
but for 46RE V8 it says back off 2 turns. I have a 5.2L V8 with the 44RE which one should i do?
Thx so much
What happens if you tighten the rear band to tight
If ny reverse is not functioning is it too late to try the reverse adjustment? 😬😬😬😬
Hi Luke, the car had shown "Input/Shaft Speed Sensor No Signal" error and was recently fixed. The professional was not speaking English well and all I understood is that the input/shaft gear had to be adjusted to always send the signal to the "Input/Shaft Speed Sensor". I wonder could what you explained in the video be what he actually did to solve the problem. I would appreciate if you can point me in the right direction.
Question what does that spring actually do? I'm getting ready to change the solenoid and sensor and do the band adjustment on my ram 1500.
its the return spring for the piston, so when under pressure it will help ease the fluid for overdrive so the clutch apply a bit more smooth
Why does this need to be done? I’m going to change my pan/filters on my 02 Jeep WJ 4.7L. I read it needs to be done after this, but why? It was driving fine before, how would it change? Thanks, Luke!
The bands have friction material kind of like a reverse brake shoe. It wears slowly over time and needs adjusting to maintain proper function. They will eventually wear out and at that point it might just be better to do a total rebuild.
When I put my truck in drive and try to give it gas it'll jerk hard then drive and everytime I come to a stop and try to give it gas it'll do that same thing it'll jerk bad then moves I just had the transmission rebuilt last week still not sure why it's jerking everytime I try to go
Excuse me guys cascade transmission parts it’s a high performance?? I means it’s better than mopar dealer?
So I’ve order the shift solenoid n pressure governor sensor as well as the spring from you guys. And I’m having the no kick-down shift. Any advise??
could be a couple things, check fluid level and adjust front band

96 jeep grand cherokee loredo here. Hesitant shifting into second from first with a slow accelerate but shifts fine when I give it a little extra gas. 2 to 3 and 3 to 4 is a smooth transition. Would this apply to the front band?
Also when I let it coast, it acts as if it wants to shift, but at a dead stop in gear, it idles just fine
I have a dodge 1500 42RE I was told the governor pressure solenoid and temperature sensor need changing. I some times experiencing a downshift out of Over Drive when my RPMs reach past 2k. Then I have to turn of the truck for a few mins so that the transmission Over Drive can reset. Are you familiar with this problem?
+jphotography Happy to help! Please email us through our websites contact us page. Our technical support specialist will be able to answer your question. Thanks!
Do you have to do front and rear band's at the same time? or can you just do the front by itself?
Dirk Diggler I'm curious as well.
I have a 97 dodge Dakota 318 v8 and have all forward gears no reverse can't get it to go in neutral I think it's the linkage but not sure any help would be great
Do you have park?
WDesign have the same problem I have park but drive still engaged not the linkage
You’re probably one to ask. I have an 01 grand Cherokee 4.0 with the selec trac 4wd system. When I go in reverse if I give it light throttle on level ground it backs up as normal but if I try to back up a hill or give it more than a touch of throttle input, it will feel like the transmission goes into neutral and then shutter as the revs come back down to idle and go back into reverse. My buddy who’s a mechanic said it sounds like my transfer case is spinning at this point and thinks it’s the tc chain slipping but I’m still wondering if it’s the 134k mile transfer case or the used transmission I just put in with 210k miles. I didn’t drive it much before swapping trans as I bought it broken with no park so I don’t know if this is a new issue or not. Could this be a band adjustment or is it possible it’s the transfer case? Some people told me snap ring but it still engine brakes when I downshift to 1st and overdrive and all forward gears and 2wd and 4wd modes still work but reverse still “let’s go” no matter what mode I’m in. Any help would be appreciated. I can’t find anyone who’s had this issue before
I got the exact problem after I did a rebuild, wondering if you got this resolved
?
You speak like Kaylo Ren..👍
He also sounds like actor Kent McCord from the late ‘60 through early 70’s TV show ADAM 12 👍
I have a 91 Dakota 318 4x4. When it tries to shift from 1st to 2nd the truck acts like it's not completely shifting and ends up in 1st & 2nd at the same time. Would a band adjustment fix this issue?
Hey I have a grand cherokee with the 42re and it does the same thing. Does yours hard shift into second and rev while it's trying to do so?
i have a 48re 2nd gear is hunting and sometimes slipping but only 2nd any idea what would fix this?
My 48RE on my SRT10 is doing the same thing. Going to adjust the front band this weekend and see if that helps. I live at apartment right now so doing anything more involved like dropping the pan I can't do, so rear band would have to wait. Sucks having 500 HP but not getting it to the wheels when you want it, embarrassing. :)
i have a 95 cherokee lorado with the 5.2/46rh it slips bad in reverse moves slow on flat ground but won't go up hill in reverse. i have tried to adjust the bands but still same problem ... i was wondering if i can replace just the reverse band and not rebuild the whole transmission? i think i can do everything but the plates in the planetary gears seem technical and crucial to get right.
Unfortunately the Rear / Low / Reverse Band is captured inside the unit, and as a ridid band there's no way to swap it out unless rebuild.
Worth Mention - We do stock a few longer band struts, which are the small flat apply plates.
If I recall they come in .010" & .015 longer than stock : length differences
Also If you have high miles on the truck or it's been ran with frequest towing hauling in town driving -
the original ones may be a bit worn out which combined with the band stretching may cause your issue.
** The first and main concern is - does the existing band still have a good lining clutch material on the strap ?>
the repair i mention may only be a band aid to help until a later rebuild can be done.
we don't have the struts on the site, but they are in stock andf can be requested within the order notes if ordering other items such as a filter kit.
Hope this helps some -
@@CascadeTransParts thanks for the reply .. 160,000 miles on it. i bought it as a project ($500), it's not my daily driver so i'm trying to be patient and just find a working replacement for a cheap price. maybe if i don't find one by spring i will attempt a rebuild. i don't have a garage just a carport.

Hello. I have a few questions that I'm hoping you can help me out with...
Why do you guys offer "generic" band adjustment settings, when in the factory Chrysler manuals, the band settings vary a bit from transmission to transmission? Seems that problems will arise sooner when you are out of spec. No?
Also, what exactly is the purpose of the 3-4 accumulator spring? I just replaced mine, as it was broken when I removed the cover.
My real problem is this... My truck's trans has a functioning lockup, but no 4th gear at all. Truck is a 2001 Dodge Ram 2500 V-10 4x4 with the 47RE transmission, with about 183K on the clock. It tows mildly, and it plows snow in the winter. I just bought the truck a few months ago and stupidly didn't realize that 4th gear wasn't functioning, or I would have never bought the truck!!!
Anyhow, I was thinking about replacing the 3-4 shift and lockup solenoids (because they are "paired" together) next, but I really hate to just "parts replace" when I don't know if they are actually bad or not. As you know, parts ain't free. So, I'm looking for any suggestions you can offer me to check / test first.
Is there an "in-vehicle" test that I can do to see if the 4th solenoid is functioning? Is there a test to see if there is a valve body issue? How about a test to know if you have a mechanical (clutch plates) failure? My guess is that to damn it mechanically, you have to get there by the process of elimination, once you have confirmed everything else electrically is working properly?
What I'm wondering is that if it were a hard part failure (such as burnt clutches or stripped gears, wouldn't the OD be inoperative as well - or are there totally separate clutch packs that used for 4th gear and for OD? I've never been "into" an automatic transmission that deeply before.
It's also my understanding that the solenoids are shifted (controlled) by the PCM, which controls the ground circuit. Does that make sense? If the lockup is working fine when in 3rd gear, does it make any sense that the 4th gear still does not engage at all?
Bottom line is that if you didn't know the truck is supposed to be a 4 speed, you'd never know you have a problem... because hydraulically, it shifts fine through the first 3 gears. Where you realize there is a problem is when you look at your speedo and your tach (or listen to the engine's roar at highway speed). The engine is turning somewhere around 2,200 - 2,300 RPMs at 60 mph. You can't pass a gas station b/c the damn truck is only getting about 7 mpg!
Any assistance would be GREATLY appreciated!
Hello - typicall we prefer all questions go through our website so we can have actvie dialogue
Regarding band settings - we have found for gas , diesel , small or larger models these band settings by far apply to the masses - there's very fine slight tuning that can be done to the front but not suggested for most as it's possible to strip the band lining off if to much tighter than this.
you comment about this " process of elimination " is correct
much of these repairs are just working through a list of possibles
there's some ohm testing that can be done on the solenoids , but
by and large they have to be tested on a solenoid dyno to know for sure the function.
You may be able to dis-assemble the valve body and find something wrong also..
I can tell you with some amount of conviction with that many miles on it ;
99% of these trucks need our full solenoid service kit and a shift kit of some sort.
Solenoids for these are somewhat wear items after a long period of time.
Additionally springs in the valve body become tired , as you found with the 3-4 spring broken.
dropping the pan may show you some of the more serioues problems if present.
Sorry we can't comment of the Pcm of items beyond the central transmission itself.
A very good start point may be our ATSG Technical Manual for these trucks see our part # " ATSG-48RE "
Turbo Diesel
Help
Turbo Diesel you can take the valve body off and put air to the servos to see if they are functioning. You will see them come out like a ram when under pressure.
Do u know the length of these Tran pan bolts ?
How can you tell I just replaced all that now my truck does not want to take off in first gear and it can go into drive Andover drive anywhere from 6 mi to 32 miles did I get a bad Governor solenoid sensor
hey man, do all of those transmissions have the same bellhousing bolt pattern? ive got a blown up 2006 1500 with a hemi 5.9 and a auto and i just bought a 2000 dodge dakota with a 4.7. just curious i i could use the trans out of the fullsize incase my dakota ever goes out.
thanks in advance
The computerized valve body is different from 00 than 06. It will not be compatible with your ecm. Also the A and RE transmissions were discontinued around 03. Your "5.7" HEMI won't have a band adjustment.
+gibbles717 FUCK. Into the dustbin with that piece of shit then.
Say...U wanna buy a blown up dodge for 500$?
Great video! But according to Chrysler its supposed to be backed out 3 turns on the front band, and 4 turns on the rear......
Please tell us all why you have chosen 2.5 turns and 3 turns instead???!?!?!?!!!
Mine is going from 1st to 3rd gear it won't shift into 2nd gear would this adjustmen works for that too? thanks for the video
I would get a new shift solenoid.
I didn't hear you mention the 2007 Dodge Dakota 4.7 V8 4x4. Does this transmission have the Band adjustment screws?
No.
How about the governor adjustment ?
Why did you have to tight the front band adjust stud twice ? One with the torque wrench at 72 lbs. then again with the hand tool ,it seems like when you reach 72 lbs with the torque wrench was really tight but when you use the hand tool was kind of loose enough to tight it with the hand tool ..Thanks.
He was demonstrating two diff ways to do that procedure, one WITH torque wrench & the other without.
@@hutfrd I didn’t hear it the first time, thanks ✌🏻
Any symptoms of the 3 4 spring failing? Or will trans act any certain way if that breaks?
Usually issues are with 3-4th gear shifts. Hence why it’s called “3-4” hard shifting, delayed shifts, no shifts.
I just installed the tourq converter lock up solenoid and decided to try and adjust the bands. Have no reverse now but did before so did I get it to tight or not tight enough? Help please!!! thanks😜
Glen this is why I'm against do it yourself vids they cause folks to ruin trans. You should be able to pull reverse servo lever about one third the way up ift should have reverse if you didn't do something else.
What does this do to the transmission
In this band adjustment video you state to torque to 72 inch pounds or 8 1/2 foot pounds. The direct conversion for 72 inch pounds is 6 foot pounds. So why do you say 8 1/2 foot pounds?
I have a question for you bud how do you know when your band needs adjustment I have a 98 Jeep grand Cherokee and if it sits over the weekend I put it in reverse and it doesn’t seem to want to go into reverse all the way and like it slipped and then it’s fine after the second engagement I’m thinking about adjusting the band
can I take a 46RE out of a 1996 dodge pickup and put it into my 2000?
As long as you swap the electronics to match the controller year. Probably.
For the band adjustment in the pan. It has a square headed bolt will a 12 point 8 mm socket fit the square 4 point bolt!??
sounds correct except i think it needs to be a 6 point socket
Mines in a 95 Dodge ram 1500 4x4 46rh so not sure if it's square or 6 point like in this video. But the video I watched before this had a square 4 point bolt. But it was a 46re I'm tearing my pan off today to put a lock up solenoid, new heavy duty 3-4 accumulator spring that I got for $2.77 at a trans parts store(: discontinued at the dealership sadly. And I'm throwing a new filter and fluid and going to adjust the bands while I'm in there. Hopefully I will be able to drive the truck for a couple months before it fully blows up and I put a 5 speed in it and do away with these shitty 4speed autos...
When you're done just be sure to fill and top the fluid off while it's running in neutral.
Also inspect the 3 wires going to the main harness connector for any possible shorts, repair as needed. There's no pigtail repair kit available so handle unplug with care.
I tightened mine to 8.5 ft lbs like the video says but then I realized 72 inch lbs is actually 6 ft lbs. how do I redo the process?
What exactly does that spring do?
2003dodge Dakota, in drivn no forwy moving , as 1355578 mils v6 engine trans is a 42re, replace fluidand filter will not move in driven , move in reverse
im rplace fluid and filer and gov solenoid, in drivn no forw move . please help
I have a question regarding this. I have a 00' Ram 3500 4x4. Has a 47RE. Recently I am unable to drive beyond 40mph because my RPMs spike up to about 3500 from 2300. Also feels like it's trying to go into neutral. I've been told by a few friends that the bands need adjusting. Is that a symptom of the bands or possibly the spring? I'm pretty mechanical savvy, but I don't know transmissions well at all.
Did you ever figure out what was the issues ???
@Average Driveway Mechanic My Overdrive was going out along with my Torque Converter. Eventually, I started having smoke come though my vents, so took the truck to a transmission shop for a full rebuild.
@Demize74 dam.. not the respond i was looking for 💔 but looks like full rebuilt then thanks for the respond !
@Average Driveway Mechanic Yeah, it's gonna hurt your wallet. It hurt mine $5k hard haha, they did a complete rebuild with a bullet TC and a few other parts, basically bullet proofed it.
But if you ever start getting smoke through your vents and your trans isn't going into Overdrive over 55mph, then your Overdrive gear is shot followed by your TC.
Thanks for info on 3-4 spring. Mine shifts super fast on 3 and 4 when I am only running 35mph easy. I didn't realize how critical it is to adjust these transmissions at frequent intervals.
also be sure to check the wiring lead # 12445AK going to the output speed sensor and the sensor itself # 92436
If there's a premature 3-4 shift it's possible a minor short of ground out on that circuit
* this is where the signal goes to the computer for overdrive & upshifts
@@Quadman808 I sure appreciate the information!!!
