100% Great Information I just applied this to my 2006 Ram 2500 today on Easter morning! It works like a charm and let's just say it took me longer to get my tools put away then I did to do the job!!!!!
My '67 Cuda has a 340 LA engine w/727 TF trans, "hemi" bands and internals(just RV spec HD parts), always set both lo-reverse and high bands when servicing to the 426 hemi specs, according to the trans builder who set this unit up. This car leaves about 30 ft. of rubber on a full throttle 1-2 shift as well, thanks to some good valve body mods and line pressure adjustment. Excellent tutorial, many newer transmissions are all electronically controlled and not as many folks are aware of mechanical adjustments these days!
Yep, this was one of the last transmissions with bands to adjust. I find it hilarious that to make it a 4spd trans they just took a 3spd trans and bolted another gear on the back of it! 😅
just had my 47re rebuilt after 210k miles, kept it serviced every 20k, and used hi quality synthetic oil, and Wix filter, added a high volume pan, with drain, and rare earth magnet to catch any metal before it got to the filter.
Precautions the solid info homes straight to the point and so far the only one that got straight to one of the common issues with the 46re 47,and 48res
Using the whiteboard to explain the function of a transmission band certainly helped explain what was going on inside the transmission when adjustment is needed. Back in the day a band adjustment was part of a trans service; showing my age..LOL
While it did work for many years, I personally find the band actuation to be such a terribly flawed design. I have no idea how that persisted for so long! 😄
Crawled under my 95 1500 ram today after pulling pan and fluid a week ago. replaced filter and adjusted bands as well. 1 quart of Lucas stop slip plus filtered remains of old ATF, ran in neutral and what do you know it moves again. So happy because local shop said I needed new trans after saying they don't work on. Your description was helpful. I test drove around neighborhood and seems ok so far, Ill know more once I get it out on the hwy.
Good to know man. My mom has a 96 Ram that she keeps around to haul brush and to have a spare vehicle. I’ll keep this in mind if she ever complains of a 2nd gear issue.
thats what my 97 dodge ram 5.9 cummins does... the 2nd gear doesn't shift properly...... there was onother video that said it could be the governor solenoid? but by watching your video hopefully it will fixed the problem excellent video.
Thank you so much this is a great video it is so clear, I would like to ask you how to know what is my automatic transmission on my dodge 2001 2500 V8 gasoline 5.9 engine?
Awesome info. I have a 2002 Dodge Ram 1500 n it’s slipping in second gear. I replaced the sensor n governor switch n it worked fine for a few days n then went back to slipping. I’ll give this a shot n see what happens. Thx! Keep sharing! I appreciate it!
Mine shudders going into 2nd. Ill be opening it up and checking the drum and the band. BTW you can get a slip in band and put it in with the trans in the truck. That's if your front drum didnt get damaged
My 99 Dodge ram 4wd just started to act up going into 2nd. Feels like it goes into neutral and then 2nd. I am going to try this, hopefully it works. 🤞🤞🤞
I have the problem you explained. I thought it was my torque converter. Nope. Mine slips out of 1st gear going into 2nd 90% of the time. But once it gets into 2nd I am good to go. I will be adjusting the band tomo. Thank you for your awesome video. And yes I like the white board explanation.
Thanks for posting this video, will get on it this weekend. I do have a question for you. Just FYI I had tranny rebuilt under 1k miles it's past warranty and had taken it back 3 times. Ran perfect last time. Vehicle 2001 ram 1500 5.2L single cab Now I was on the highway and noticed it started to go in and out on overdrive from 3rd to 4th. Speed was 65 to 70 max, not driving hard and only additional weight was the regular old campershell. Got off highway and just took side streets to get home. Turn on next morning with cold engine in park. Dash light of od flashes on and off as well as light for tranny overheating. Any suggestions. I'm thinking governor but will try this approach you present 1st. Thanks once again
I have these same symptoms but, I noticed as the tranny warms up the symptoms go away. does that make sense for the symptoms to go away as the transmission warms up and be the same cause/band adjustment? I'm second owner of my 2005 Dodge RAM 2500 with 5.9 and don't believe the 2nd gear band has been ever adjusted. thank you for all your great and helpful videos!!
Great video, through me off at first thought it was an ad until i realized what you did there Haha. 15 min fix for sure. currently trying to pin down an intermittent cyl 8 mis fire on 2010 ram 5.7. Your other videos had me nervous about cam but i dont have any noise and some days it will drive all day without reproducing. Only a stumble at idle only when code is thrown. Think i am going to try switching injectors first because while it stumbles at idle i can unplug the coil on cyl 8 and still gets noticeably worse. (Pass side closest to firewall) i know it sounds silly but it seems like when i remote start it triggers it faster, usually 10 seconds or less then code shows back.
Definitely go after the easier stuff first! If it is the cam/lifters you can always find that out down the road, better to start with checking the spark plugs, swap coils, swap injectors, compression test, ect.. 👍
I'm 65 now did this to my 71 Dodge Charger everytime I changed the fluid just to get the most out of the bands I was pretty rough on the old girl racing and all there is also low and reverse band adjustment on the inside of the pan but those transmissions were non computer of course the good old days by the way I still have that old Charger was my first car everything she ever had done to her I did and still do as long as I have my health
I'm always jealous of those who still have their first car. My first car was a 1971 VW superbeetle that I "restored" myself. Had a lot of issues but I loved it, was pretty fast for a bug, until it caught fire on the highway one day. Melted the entire car to the ground 😢
Great content . As always I enjoy your knowledge. I have 1 question. When I am coming to a full stop. I can watch my RPMs fall to lower than 500 when the truck stops 100% . It feels like I have to press the breaks harder, as it wants to power through the breaking.
This would just be an educated guess, but occasionally I've seen the torque converter clutch have trouble releasing fully, and this can cause issues like the one you're describing. The only fix is replacing the torque converter. Again though, this is just an option, is would get it professionally diagnosed before spending any money. 👍
@@ReignitedAuto Wow! You don't know how much I appreciate you responding. That means a lot. Much respect . I will have it looked at and let you know if you are spot on . Thanks again .
Cool so many guys are thinking my transmission shop told me I needed a complete rebuild. 4500 dollars later they seen this video and blew milk out their nose. HaHaHa HA
I hate to say it, but sometimes dealers take advantage of this situation, because they know it could be a simple fix, then they lowball a guy on the trade in value. Sometimes I hate my own industry...
Got a question?? I have 08 Durango. And on the freeway, sometimes I got to stuff the pedal to get it to downshift??? It doesn’t do it by rpm or lag. Once I awhile it will on its own?? Is the the shift silanoid going bad. Sorry for misspelling
Thank you for the info. I am going to try this, but I also have a couple other problems. I have a 2006 Ram 3500 with 110k miles. In addition to the problem you described, when I attach a trailer around 5000 pounds and start driving out of my driveway which is at a slight incline, it really struggles like a massive load is on it and in about 15 seconds the special overheat light shows up. I let it cool and after I start driving regularly and the transmission is actually warmed up, it seems fine. I also notice that after it sits for a couple days and I put it in drive it takes a while before it will start driving forward. Thank you for the help!
The issue where if it sits for a couple days and it takes awhile to start moving is actually completely normal, Chrysler actually gives an allowance of up to 6 seconds if you can believe that! As to your first issue, first thing I'd be looking at is the trans fluid level and condition. If the fluid is low at all that'll definitely contribute to this problem. But if the fluid is blackand smells bad then you're likely looking at a rebuild soon. 👍
@@ReignitedAuto Wow, 6 seconds that seems crazy. It just feels like it has been getting worse over the years. I have been changing that oil about every 15,000 miles. It still seems fine, but it is on the lower side. I did find a TSB for a bad Solenoid valve which causes some shift hunting which I do experience. When I do this I was thinking of getting one of those deep machined aluminum pans. Do you like those? Thanks again!
@@MakersAcres good find on that TSB, it most often happens under very light acceleration that it'll kind of hunt between first and second gear. Note: along with the pressure solenoid also replace the pressure transducer (pressure sensor). It's right three next to the solenoid, they are fairly cheap to replace and they also contribute to the issue. As for deep pans, I actually don't like them at all. Ostensibly their purpose is to add extra fluid so you don't overheat the stock fluid amount, but I just don't think they make a huge difference, not to mention you are now spending a bunch more on fluid, and they make it hard to know howmuch fluid to add after a service. And they usually leak like crazy too because people over tighten the crappy cork or rubber gasket they come with.
I have an 03 2500 5.7 automatic but it has 8 lug axles. Im not a mopar guy, does this mean i have a 3/4 ton cab and 1 ton rated axles drivetrain and suspension? 1-2 gear are strong, but shifting through at a stop it jerks into every gear. 3-4 gear are as if its in 1st or neutral. Throwing codes but also found to have been overfilled by previous owner. Im praying that it was by mistake and not by intentionally deviance. Im a gm and toyota fan but unbelievably love this truck enough to try to keep it. Plan to remove trans fluid to correct level one way or another. Cannot find a drain plug it's either non existent or if what I found isn't just part the casting, maybe an unused feature on mine than others, or I found it and its snapped off in the core. With my misfortune somehow it will be the last, if not all three. Thanks for the answers in advanced!!! It will decide whether I fix it. And if not 1-2 gear and 4x4 work absolutely phenomenal and the bed and other stuff is rusted out beyond belief. A farm use and off-road truck is totally manageable to only go 40-50 wound halfway out in 2nd. Lol.
Its 4th downshifting to third for mine. Whenever im going around 55mph-70mph and just cruising along and need to accell it likes to hold fourth and like slip some and accelerate very lazy instead of downshifting if you try to accel normal. But if you give it a bit more throttle more aggressively on the first initial acceleration it will wake it up down shift and accel so much faster and easier in the correct lower gear.
I have TRANS TEMP light on. After doing all the steps in this video and others you have posted...changing filter, fluids, gov sensor, adjust screw etc. Why is that light on now? I never seen it or heard of "Trans Temp."
@@ReignitedAutomy 96 1500 has trouble downshifting from 4th to third on the highway when slowing down cuz of a hill or something. It tries to, but i have to floor it, then it goes from 4th to second then third. Any ideas? Would be appreciated alot
I like the videos, keep up the good work. I do have a question about my 06 1500 mega cab. I’m getting a shudder when I take off. I’ve checked the rear diff , changed the fluid and put in new additive. Wondering if it’s a transmission problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Keep the videos coming. Thanks.
Only on take off? Sometimes if a driveline U-joint is starting to fail it will shudder on take off, or under certain load situations. I'd probably pull the rear driveshaft out to check them both (usually it's the rear one) If that's not it then we can dive deeper. 👍
Ok next up I'd suspect an issue with either the trans pressure transducer or pressure solenoid. I generally replace both at the same time, it's a relatively simple swap, but you do have to pull the trans pan to do it. Now that I think about it, I need to make sure you have a RE trans and not a RFE. Shoot me the last 8 of your VIN and I'll check it out.
@@ReignitedAuto definitely will do. It will have to wait until tomorrow though. It’s a little late to go out to the barn. I do really appreciate your help.
I have a 1993 Dakota v6 4wd and transmission has started slipping in reverse. 135k miles. Do you have a video covering this situation or have any advice?
I have a 1996 Ram 2500 with the 46RE, at the top of 1st gear just before second it kind of misses / slips, then goes into 2nd. Hopefully this is all it needs is a band adjustment
I have a 2002 Dodge Durango sport with the 4.7 v8 I'm having a problem when I drive it shifts normal but if I go to pass somebody I stomp on it and the RPMs kick up high and it won't shift unless I let up and then it won't shift properly could that be my solenoids going out it's never done it before it just started doing it
Dan I wasn't planning on doing a video for the rear band. To be honest, in over 10 years of being a trans tech I've only ever seen the rear band fail once, and they're almost never out of adjustment, they are much stronger and wear much less than the front band. I bet I can tell you exactly what's wrong with your overdrive though! The snap ring on the top of the O/D unit starts to snap into several pieces, the unit still functions, but will exhibit a flare like you mentioned. Neat thing about the O/D unit is that it can be removed with the trans still in the vehicle. 👍
@@ReignitedAuto Thanks for the response, from my digging thats what I think has happened, its just a winter rig so I will probably leave it until my summer ride is out.
@@danh6533 its not a tough job, but it does require a couple special tools to do it, which is a pain. Only thing I would caution is if enough of the snap ring comes apart you'll lose overdrive entirely. 👍
Hi Reignited, the car had shown "Input/Shaft Speed Sensor No Signal" error and was recently fixed. The professional was not speaking English well and all I understood is that the input/shaft gear had to be adjusted to always send the signal to the "Input/Shaft Speed Sensor". I wonder could what you explained in the video (although the car might be different) be what he actually did to solve the problem. I would appreciate if you can point me in the right direction.
Hello. Sir, how are you? I have a question for you , do you know if the number outside of the transmission bell housing is important when you change the transmission with used one ? Cause my transmission has priblems and I wanna replace with a used one, mine has this number 064-2 (98 dodge ram 1500 4x4) and I found one from a 97 4x4 as wel but has this number 064-9 in the transmission bell housing, thanks in advance and hopefully I can get answers from you, thank you an I appreciated
Great video. I have a 2007 dodge 2500 5.7L (545RFE Auto trans I believe). Would this transmission also have a similar band adjustment and is the procedure the same? Not sure if this is my exact issue (I have high rpm when I kick down into lower gear but lack power). Thanks for any help you can pass on and yes your white board description gave me a perfect visual of how the mechanism worked.
Not exactly sure if it is all of them or just the lower gears as it is not insured right now. When I did do some research on it, from the videos I watched it seemed like the issue was the clutch plates worn out. It makes a bit of a groaning noise while driving it normally on the flat ground but when I kicked the throttle down to go up a hill, the RPM's would jump up to 5000 plus but it would not have the power for that high of RPM's. This was last summer and I figured at the time it needed a rebuild but would probably be cheaper to look for a used rebuilt transmission which seem difficult to find right now for some reason beyond me. I live in BC, Canada but seem to only find rebuilt online in the US. Any suggestions on the best root of wether this is a rebuild or a cheaper fix? Thanks for listening to my ramble.
I just bought a 04 5.7 ram with the 545rfe and it want shift into any gets but first neutral reverse and park. And it will pull first and second if I manually put it in 2nd. I changed the trans fluid fillters solenoid and pan. Still same issue now just shifts a little smoother. When in second. I have the speed sensors and the pressure sensor on the way. I seen an other video of yours said it might be the torque converter. Will have to drop the trans to change it or do you think it's something else?
have a different vehicle . its automatic transmission6 speed. when i am going from 4th to 5th gear, it seems to be clinging to the 4th. revs up and then goes to 5th. could this be a band issue?
Hello.. I have that same transmission 2005 Cummins. I feel going from 1st to a 2nd gear, 2nd to a 3rd gear it locks afterwards to that last gear I feel. Not sure what gear it is but that is my highway gear I guess. 2200rpm @70mph. I feel it shifting only twice never goes over 1700rpms if driving easy on the pedal. Am I suppose to feel it shifting 3 times since it’s a 4 speed/gear trans. If yes not sure what gear is missing. Thanks
A question I have the slipping under moderate load bands have never been adjusted. But I had the truck from about 9000 miles on. Trans fluid changed every 16 20 k it slips under moderate load and tries to skip 2nd gear all together. Slightly burned fluid recently. Could this be the issue or is it time to rebuild the trans or replace with reman. The truck has 122k on it and has seldom been driven without hauling a trailer of at least 2000 pounds behind it any info would be great.
I have to say, that's pretty rare. You don't normally see slipping issues with the 8spd trans it's a really solid trans overall. I would say if you are experiencing slippage on cold take offs, definitely check your fluid level first. If it's low by a fair amount you'll experience slipping. If you need any info on how to check it let me know. 👍
What about holding on to second with a 47rh with new apply piston and accumulator piston? I did this adjustment and it improved 2nd gear, but now it doesn't want to shift 3rd without very light throttle or rev high and back off of the throttle? I'm thinking of adjusting again a little looser.
I have the 06 Ram 1500 2 wd my problem is when i first start my truck and drop it into drive or reverse the tranny takes at least 6-8 seconds to move the truck its like the tranny is in pause mode until it decides to engage what can be causing this problem?
So i raced a guy from a dig brand new transmision done to 600 hp and it slipped down to first after about one second in 2nd gear any ideas let out and it just ripped in a straight line no slipping after
Mine shift 1ft and 2nd but 3rd and over drive won't release gears i put both sensors and accoumulater spring and still won't release it got any answers.
Mt trans doesnt have the t40 torx. Its a bolt head. Which trans is that? It has the solid metal solenoid not the plastic one. Has the round plug not the long square one
Any check engine light when this occurs? If not, have you checked the fluid level and condition? These transmission's are pretty sensitive to low fluid levels. If the fluid is black or smells burned then it's time to price out a new one. Cheaper to buy a new one than rebuild the old one.
I’m about to try this to my 2004 Ram 2500. Just started slipping last month and I was thinking the tranny was going bad because I lacked on the transmission fluid change. This could be my answer.
Did it work out for you? I was thinking about doing the same thing to mine. Started slipping about a month ago also and I though the same thing you did because I put off transmission fluid change for a long time also.
Technically the front and rear bands should be adjusted every time a trans service is done, basically every 30k miles. But I've seen trucks with 190k on them that it's obvious it's never been adjusted. 👍
Thanks for your video , I'm having issues with the 46RE in Dodge Ram 1500 , code trip is P1740 error in tcc or O/D solenoid . Truck is not shifting from first gear and slips out of first gear and just revs like it's in neutral while I drive it . I researched and thought I found the solution - replace the TCC solenoid but when I dropped the pan there's a piece of what looks like a ring on the magnet . I stopped the job . Are you able to help figure this out ? Thank you
That's an older problem we don't see much of anymore. If it's what I'm thinking, the ring you are seeing is part of the overdrive clutch snap ring. The snap ring fractures into several pieces until they are small enough to fall out. At this point overdrive can no longer engage. Only fix is to remove the overdrive unit from the back of the trans, which can be done with the trans still in the vehicle. Once out, you'll have to install a new snap ring, and it can be tricky to reassemble the overdrive unit properly. If you don't get all the clutch plates aligned properly it won't go back onto the trans properly.
Wonder if this will work on mine? I had a tranny cooler line pop off sitting still and spit all the fluid out. Refilled it with oe fluid and when it gets warmed up it doesnt want to shift to second. Gonna try it out, thank you! Btw ill post a update if it works or not
My truck won't go to first when D is selected.. sometimes it will down shift from D, but I need to manually shift to 1st then 2 and D. Is this the pressure transducer? Inside the pan under a guard? Thanks. Also, should I even try the band adjustment?
Hey I wanted to add the gear to gear shifting in this transmission is firm not too quick , not slow and sloppy. The manual shifting is just fine like it's always been I just can't get first every time and drive it tries to take off in second gear. When I'm in a light I can feel something downshifting I think cuz you're not feels like there's more torque in the truck wants to creep forward. But when I go it's still not in first gear.
Does this also come in to play when out of nowhere you lose second gear, drop the pan and see the fork on the bottom of the pan. or do you think the thing on the other side of the band is bent or something
I'm back again looking for any advise on my 02 4.7 2wd. For over 5 years the trans will not work until it seems the fluid makes its way around the cooler. Once it runs for a few seconds, it works fine for the rest of the day until it sits for hours. I changed the filter inside the trans with a Mopar trans filter and seemed to help just a little at the time, but, really the same. I only use it for a few months during the winter as a second car. 140k miles.
Ya, that's kind of a classic issue with those trucks. The drain back valve in the torque converter starts leaking back down when the engine is off so it takes a little bit to fill the torque converter back up when you first start it. A good way to check this is to let it sit overnight them check the fluid level before starting it. Normally it will be above the full mark when not running, but if the converter is leaking back it'll be way up the stick. Unfortunately the only fix is a new torque converter. Chrysler actually has a specification for this that says anything up to 6 seconds before the vehicle moves is normal! 😄
@@ReignitedAuto Thank you, I always wondered what the fix was for it. I bought the truck new and the only major things wrong was this and the rear differential had to be rebuilt only 6 years after I had it and Chrysler would not reimburse at the time.
2006 5.9 seems that second is gone when up to operating temp and light/moderate accelerating. When the truck is still cool it shifts properly. Could this be the issue
The 65 is actually a pretty solid trans, my only advice would be to make sure you're doing trans services every 30k miles, and I mean actually dropping the pan and replacing both filters. And make sure you're actually using the tow/haul mode if you're towing. Most common failure I saw is the overdrive is kind of weak, and will burn up easy if you are towing and not using the tow strategy. 👍
@@ReignitedAuto Awesome! Thanks! When i bought my truck last year they had replaced the trans cooler lines when it was traded. Should I assume it was serviced as you describe then?
Have 2001 ram 2500 diesel when making left turns the engine revs like its in neutral and after turn is complete the tranny or rear end grabs again and truck is ok ever hear of this?
I have experienced this in a chevy with an Allison trans before. Check your trans fluid level, if it's low you could run into a situation where the trans fluid sloshes to one side of the pan or another and temporarily loses prime. Sounds dumb, but it could very well be causing your issue. 👍
I just purchased a 2000 Dakota for my son, The guy I bought it from said it had codes 1763 and 1764, Basically no 1st gear unless manually shifting through the gears then all worked fine? I replace complete kit including internal harness and codes gone and all shifted through all gears. But now when going from 1st to 2nd it surges until I lift throttle to engage 2nd. This sounds like what you are describing but not sure? No more codes just the second gear thing? Thanks in advance!!!
Best advice I can give is there might be an issue with the overdrive unit. On your teams the overdrive is a separate housing that bolts to the back of the trans, inside that unit there's a small ring that likes to fracture into a bunch of pieces, if it comes apart enough then the clutch discs will get burned up and it'll have trouble holding 4th gear. One situation anyway. Unfortunately it requires disassembly to verify.
Question for you guys, Do you enjoy the whiteboard segments where I try to explain how stuff works? Or is it not necessary?
I think you should use the whiteboard, remember there are people learning and a visual can be helpful 👍😁

Mine shudders going into 2nd. Ill be opening it up and checking the drum and the band. BTW you can get a slip in band and put it in with the trans in the truck. That's if your front drum didnt get damaged

Great video and info definitely worked! About how long will this adjustment last?
a while. years.
It does help understand
Thanks for posting this video, will get on it this weekend.
I do have a question for you. Just FYI I had tranny rebuilt under 1k miles it's past warranty and had taken it back 3 times. Ran perfect last time. Vehicle 2001 ram 1500 5.2L single cab
Now I was on the highway and noticed it started to go in and out on overdrive from 3rd to 4th.
Bert try checking the plug on number 8 to see if the ceramic is cracked
@@tylerb8678 thanks, will do. Waiting for the weather to break over 30. Been mostly in the teens & 20s here lately lol
I like the whiteboard makes stuff a little easier to follow sometimes especially when talking about an auto trans those things scare me 😳
Thanks Joe!

When do you recommend to swap fluid on a 16 charger rt? I know its suppose to be lifetime fluid but i dont trust it
Good instructions thanks. Is 6 foot pounds the same as 72 inch pounds?
Yes sir 👍
@@ReignitedAuto
Wow, 6 seconds that seems crazy.
@@ReignitedAuto thank you very much! That is great info and I’ll replace that too!
If the band is to tight could it cause a 48re to slam into 2nd from 3rd gear?
I have a quick question does a 2007 jeep commander with a 5.7 transmission fit on a 2004 dodge ram
Lol.
12 point 9mm 3/4 wrench tighten to 72inch pounds and back out 2 7/8 tighten nut down done!

Is the 47re transmission workable in a F450 delivery flat bed truck or seek an upgrade?
I have a 2007 dodge ram sport . I have a code p0524 oil sensor switch. I change the switch . They say that it's an update for the pcm .
Great job and well-explained video, will this also affect the 4th gear? mine does not want to get to 4th gear anymore on the highway :(
That could be another issue entirely, unfortunately there are several different reasons why 4th gear won't engage.
@@ReignitedAuto I installed new u-joints and a new center bearing. Definitely only feels like it is doing it in first. It goes away around 10/15 mph.

I have a 1996 Ram 2500 with the 46RE, at the top of 1st gear just before second it kind of misses / slips, then goes into 2nd.
Hopefully this is all it needs is a band adjustment
Let me know if that worked out for you, since that sounds like a prime candidate for a band adjustment. 👍

I have a 2002 Dodge Durango sport with the 4.7 v8 I'm having a problem when I drive it shifts normal but if I go to pass somebody I stomp on it and the RPMs kick up high and it won't shift unless I let up and then it won't shift properly could that be my solenoids going out it's never done it before it just started doing it
How do you identify which trans you have?
Love the turbo yoda flag!
Use ya brain! 😄 He really is the best.
Good video, will their be a video on the rear band? Luckily mine seems fine does have a slight flare into OD but its 20 years old lol.

What about the 545rfe with no band adjustment?
So I recently got a 97 ram 1500 with the 5.9L and my second gear takes forever to shift out of to go into third. What could I do to fix that issue?
What about slipping from second to 3rd gear problem- slips in between but when rpm’s come down it engages ???
Unfortunately the 545 is a completely different architecture, and this tip won't apply. What gears specifically are you having issues with?
I loose 4th and od when my transmission comes up to temp. Any suggestions?
have a different vehicle . its automatic transmission6 speed. when i am going from 4th to 5th gear, it seems to be clinging to the 4th. revs up and then goes to 5th. could this be a band issue?
Thanks
Is it only for second gear? Because I’m having problems with my 4th.
What would cause the newer 8 speed transmission to do this on a 2015 ram 1500? Mostly slips on cold take off.
I'm thinking of adjusting again a little looser.
check your throttle valve cable, behind the throttle linkage on top of the engine, it goes down to the trans
For all you Americans out there a 19mm and a 3/4” are the same size.

Mt trans doesnt have the t40 torx. Its a bolt head. Which trans is that? It has the solid metal solenoid not the plastic one. Has the round plug not the long square one
I am looking for some help. I have a 2012 Challenger R/T with the nag1 that will flash neutral from 3rd to 4th. Completely at random times. Thanks.
Is there a factory recommended mileage interval for this procedure?
Jacob that usually happens when the front band is worn so badly that the fork falls out of place. Usually when you see that it's time for a rebuild 👍
100% that's a prime candidate for this issue👍
How many turns for a 42RE transmission
How can one find out what transmission is? 46,47,48 RE is it written somewhere? Thank you for your video.
What year/ model is your vehicle?
Is this the same thing as a slip ring?
Any tips for extending the life of the RFE transmissions? I have the 65
The 65 is actually a pretty solid trans, my only advice would be to make sure you're doing trans services every 30k miles, and I mean actually dropping the pan and replacing both filters.
Likely not, the lines are easily replaced without doing a trans service, and if they can save the money they won't do it.
@@ReignitedAuto Thanks man. Not putting a lot of miles on it now but I'll crawl under there when it warms up outside. Love the channel!

On a 1500 Hemi you're going to have either a 45rfe or 545rfe, neither of which this fix applies to. 👍

100% it's pretty good access, the only thing really in the way is the front drive shaft and even then it's not too bad 👍

Say you get a used ram someone does this and it shifts hard maybe to much adjustment? Just curious
That can be the case, but it would only be present in the 1-2 shift.
My truck dodge ram 2004 3 and 4 gears jumping any advice please
Best advice I can give is there might be an issue with the overdrive unit. On your teams the overdrive is a separate housing that bolts to the back of the trans, inside that unit there's a small ring that likes to fracture into a bunch of pieces, if it comes apart enough then the clutch discs will get burned up and it'll have trouble holding 4th gear. One situation anyway. Unfortunately it requires disassembly to verify.
Would this repair also work on a 2012 Dodge Ram Hemi 5.7 Sport?
No those have a different transmission entirely.
