In Fate/Zero almost everything was perfect, but in future installations he’s managed to refine his performance as Gilgamesh that the tone pretty much comes off naturally. Like if you had to compare his performance then and now. In Zero it sounded like a professional VA voicing Gilgamesh and reading a script, in Prestige Flower/Babylonia/Strange Fake, it sounds like Gilgamesh. Not many VAs are able to refine their performance to the point that a character is synonymous to them. That’s true professional work there.
to be fair, Gil is pure - even the grail that could easily corrupt divine beings cannot corrupt him. he just wanted to watch an entertaining show. He knows full well Kirei will fail. before his past demise, he came to accept his mortality - that he won't be there to keep watch on humanity until the end. but he was also at peace because his clairvoyant tells him everything that will happen in the future - that said, he keeps forgetting the details because there're so many things repeating themselves. but at least he always knows the end, that humanity will always thrive. this was why he didn't really care about awakening the evil in Kirei, its just a fraction of moments in the grand scale of time to him.

It’s a mystery no one agrees on Kinoko once said that the reason why Gilgamesh’s behaviour is different between Fate/Extra - where he is an ally - and the main world - Zero and Fate - is because he’s disgusted with the modern world. According to his principles and the way of life back in his time, there’s too much contradictions so he’s pissed off. Mesopotamia is the cradle of humanity. That is when societies were born, when people stopped living like prehistoric humans and teamed up. This is the time when humanity gained dominance over all living beings. And there weren’t a lot of people. Gilgamesh being the oldest known hero, he isn’t kidding when he says he is the king of the world, he was. The problem is he still considers himself as thus. In UBW, he had a nice chat with Shinji where he related some story : back on his time, some people disrespected him and/or broke the law, so what did he do ? Nothing. Because they were irreplaceable, all of them were useful to humanity. In Ubw, emo-Gilgamesh deplores the fact that they are a lot of people but less history-making people and no one is irreplaceable. People only have to entertain themselves til the day they die, they don’t have to accomplish anything. That’s why he wants to do some Thanos Snap. This is his way of "readjusting the balance" / "fixing the world". Just like a ruler noticing hubris amongst his subjects. If you wonder why his behaviour is different between the 3 routes, that is because he has the same objectives : Thanos snap, do some ruling and marrying Saber. But his priorities are different. In Fsn, getting Saber comes first. In Ubw Thanos snap comes first. In HF, he died too soon for us to know 😂
@@artieskuld6858 yeh, it's still weird though, that he was THAT disgusted in humanity. Especially with who Gilgamesh is. He's the overseer of humanity, he's seen into the future so he knew that life would get this far, and in Fate Zero, Tokiomi asks if the modern world is to his liking, Gilgamesh responds with, "it's utterly disgusting, but that is fine in its own way", which really implies that Gil understands the progression of humanity and even maybe approves.... I don't know, it's just off to me.
@@mr_fahrenheight1728 yeah I see what you mean But it's okay in some way, because what makes Gilgamesh likeable is its complexity. Not being fully understandable is what makes him complex. Who can tell ? My analysis may not be good enough, at least that's what I know about on this question
From what I can tell, in his time, Gilgamesh thought everyone was pretty cool. In Zero and Stay Night, he wasn't a big fan of the modern world and the people who lived in it. No one was interesting to him, and during that 10 year time period, he probably did meet some people who were REALLY unlikeable. But it also seems like he's more or less of a jerk depending on the time period. In Extra, he actually calls the Master "Master" in some occasions, and he doesn't show much disdain for merely looking at him like he did in Zero. I think FGO and Extra are what Gilgamesh's character is SUPPOSED to be. He's arrogant and a jerk sometimes, but he's not really evil. His alignment is Chaotic Good, meaning that he does understand when a job needs to get done. He just hated the timeline in Zero and Stay Night. I think the best example of this is when in Zero, Tokiomi suggests that Gilgamesh use EA against Gilles De Rais's tentacle monster thingy, which made Gilgamesh offended. But in Extra and FGO, Gilgamesh is totally okay with using EA if the situation really needs it. Heck, if he was forced to use it via Command Spell, he'd be angry at first, but probably shrug it off a few minutes later.

Uncut huh that seems cut to me
So, I have a question, in Fate Stay Night, is Gilgamesh under the influence of the Holy Grail? Or is he just like that?
It’s a mystery no one agrees on
Kinoko once said that the reason why Gilgamesh’s behaviour is different between Fate/Extra - where he is an ally - and the main world - Zero and Fate - is because he’s disgusted with the modern world.
@@mr_fahrenheight1728 yeah I see what you mean
But it's okay in some way, because what makes Gilgamesh likeable is its complexity.
I have to admit, for some reason he sounds like a gay man
No offense
It’s not gay if it’s clay!
Lol probably bcs this is dub. I don't think Gil ever sounded gay in the original japanese sub.
Care how you speak before a god!
He's bi, lore wise.
I mean the real Gilgamesh was bisexual...
ITS HERACLES
I liked him better in a fur coat
