    Perfect lesson for this killer bassline. Worth nothing that Sting had to simplify it somewhat for live performances so he could sing along to it 😂😉

    Canary in a coal mine was always by absolute favorite. I don’t know if he wrote it, but it’s such a lovely line.

    Hi Dan, not sure sting gets enough credit for being a great bass player! Great stuff as always.

    Thank you for covering this song, Dan! I always loved this song too. I'm definitely adding this to my list to try and 'graduate' myself to. 🙂 I'm really enjoying your *'Bass Breakdown'* Series. It's a great idea!

    súper class, very clear as always, thank you.
    As I am learning reggae bass, it wasnt too difficult to find that 2+ beat to start, neither the rythm itself, but the pace is killing!! I have to slow down the metronome a lot haha.

    Dan thanks for sharing your knowledge .. im giving up playing bass . Im just not getting it and don't have the money to make it..

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  2 місяці тому +1

      You don’t need money to make it. Set a simple goal you want to achieve like learning one song or playing one scale up and down cleanly. Just one thing. Then you need to commit regular time to practice. You can’t improve without that. Try not to give up! Just commit to 5-10 minutes a day.

      @@OnlineBassCourses thanks dan your positivity is appreciated. I think one thing is i don't know how to set a practice routine and watch way too much UA-cam video and just get lost.

    • @OnlineBassCourses
      @OnlineBassCourses  2 місяці тому +1

      @@bradami1234 There's your answer right there. UA-cam and social media generally have the finest minds in the world trying to get us all hooked. It works. Luckily my last lesson was titled How To Structure Your Bass Practice Routine! Here it is: ua-cam.com/video/H-jVDpez-uc/v-deo.html. Then watch some of these: ua-cam.com/play/PLdXYrUzLRVdocp3euI1PZSAYeEoAdm3_M.html
      If you watch videos that further your education or improve you in some way, that's all good. Focus your energy and time on understanding how to set that practice routine. Then you'll start to improve, your motivation will rise, and you'll want to play rather than mindlessly watch. Good luck!

    I’ve seen Stewart Copeland talk about this song, says it’s the hardest song for all of them to play because there is no 1 beat lol😂

    Thanks Dan. The bass-less track is on UA-cam here: ua-cam.com/video/fDPmu4Wh7uE/v-deo.htmlsi=d7bvBf-xDZ3WIif6. Painfully exposes how complicated that rhythm of that bass line in the verses is.

    Have a look at the Rick Beato interview of Steward Copeland, he explains how this was done from a little Casio synth automatic accompaniment and how he himself counts the beats. The bass line being written later by Sting of course. ua-cam.com/video/XIJkRhd1CTY/v-deo.html
