as a self taught bassist who somehow ended up playing in a church, this stuff helps a lot, thank u so much
🙏
Solid lesson as always. One of the best bass instruction channels ever.
Thanks so much.
Single MM pickups usually aren’t my thing, but I’m LOVING your tone!
Great vid!
Thanks! I’m a fan of them (and this bass).
🎯Ah,...Really Great Bassists Who are Also Great Teachers are Always Appreciated!🎯
🙏🙏
Hi Dan! I want to thank you for all bass lessons on your channel, now it is one of my favourite! I play bass for 3 years and I stil learn. I found so many interesting ideas for my basslines in your videos I began to use. You are very cool bassist and teacher.
Thanks so much - really appreciate that!
Fr
Thank you for the PDF! I always learn so much from you.
Excellent lesson! You really boiled it down to the essential. I know it's good to learn all 5 pentatonic shapes as most instructors insist, but this was just what I needed. Now, I'm going to go play my drums for a while.
So wonderfully helpful.
Clear informative and useful; who can ask for more.
Another great lesson, Dan.! Your teaching method resonates with me because you get straight to the point and your explanations are crystal clear. Your enthusiasm and love of the bass is inspirational. You are a rarity among teachers!
Thanks so much!!
Awesome job 👏 thanks for sharing this lesson 😀
Great lesson! Time to practice!
Thanks Dan!
Thanks for this lesso I will be practicing all afternoon whith this ❤️😊
You speak to your expression that you add in all your videos in more detail this time and I really really am glad I found it as it takes regular playing and makes it sound *pro*. Thanks for your excellent videos - I am learning fast watching you!
I’ll do more on that soon…
Great lesson!
Thanks Dan.
You are helping groove on Dan~~~~
Good stuff, working on it now
Thank u bro da I love the kind of shapes
Thank you sir 🙏
😍👍👏👏👏👏
Thanks ❤
Hi Dan thanks for this lesson, it’s so much fun playing around with these pentatonics, 🔥🔥👌🏽🏴
Sure is!
I really like your videos. love you.
Dan your lessons always ROCKS. Love it bro, cheers!!
Glad you like them!
Dan tha man.. best bass instructor eva! Loving those shapes brother & I'm sure I saw some of them in your books I bought last year. I'll have to dig them out again for sure. 👍🎶
I’m sure they were there! Many thanks.
Thanks!
🙏 thanks for the super thanks!
Very sweet.
Good lesson Sir! I'm mad for pentatonic scales. I use them all the time myself. You can never learn too much about this. I also would like to thank you for putting up the images of the scales so we're not guessing what you're playing. Well Done.
Many thanks!
This is my favorite bass of yours. Real beauty! ✌
Mine too I think!
Awesome lessons ! Merci beaucoup ! ✌️✌️
Merci!
Une autre excellente leçon, merci!
🙏🙏🙏
I learn most from you. I understand my chord wheel book more and more as i learn from you. Are you a college instructor?
Glad to hear that. 👍 I taught in schools in England for many years but no music schools/colleges.
I do too " easy to understand great teacher 🙌🤟🌻👍😎
Just found you. Great stuff. Looking forward to learning more.
Glad to have you here - thanks!
i actually got that!😮
Hi, great video! The thing I like best is your sound, can you comment how do you achieve it, I can see an Avalon pre, thanks!
Thanks! I explain it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/JXURgP2XAUk/v-deo.html
Thanks for this video! I am working on, and mostly have the fretboard memorized. I also have my major, minor and pentatonic, major and minor scales memorized. My end goal is to move around the fretboard with ease, any tips for that? Thanks again 😁
Check out my fretboard knowledge playlist. There are a few lessons there. Basically, learn the notes everywhere and then play patterns all over the neck. Get to know the sound and the intervals. It does get easier!
@@OnlineBassCourses thank you 😊
Gotta love the tone you get from that old ‘Ray!
It’s a great bass!
@@OnlineBassCourses How do you eq it for that awesome tone? Recording direct?
@@illustriousdrbobble yes it’s going in direct. I just turn the bass knob up on the instrument and the treble a bit. I don’t do anything else.
@@OnlineBassCourses thanks for replying. mine has a mid knob too, I suppose I’ll have to work out where that sits. Flatwounds or round?
@@illustriousdrbobble old sounds. These old StingRays are two band only.
I heard Cosmic Debris in that second one.
Wow, you're best teacher
🙏🙏
@@OnlineBassCourses I'llfollow every time
👏👏👏👏👏👏‼️
I know where I will be living until I get these shapes without thinking about them
👍✌️
Hey Dan, great video. In the first pentatonic shape for G min, you mentioned, C and D as min chords. Isn't D , the fifth in G min, and won't that make D as a Maj?
In a minor key, the v chord is minor as mentioned. It’s major in a major key. 👍
@@OnlineBassCourses Alright, wasn't aware of that. Thanks for the knowledge 👍
@@OnlineBassCourses Hey Dan, isn't a fifth known as perfect, be it maj or minor? I checked many places, they call it perfect even in a minor scale.. perplexing..
@@tron_143 yes. A 5th is usually perfect but can be flat or augmented too. In a basic major or minor chord it is ‘perfect’.
May we know the gauge and brand of your strings on that MM?
Of course! Elites Players 45-105
Is the perfect “5th” at 5:02… isn’t that a perfect fourth (which is 5 half intervals)? I’m learning theory right now and just read saw this difference. Please help!
It's either - depending on which way you look at it!
It’s a 4th if the F were the root. Since the Bb is the root though, it’s still a fifth although it IS a 4th down from the Bb root!
😮
What am i missing here, i thought the F within the B flat major scale is a dominant chord!
If you put the 7th in then, yes, it Is. The basic version is just an F major chord.
@@OnlineBassCourses Ah! Thanks very much Dan.
Use as leads like on guitar it's what they do lol
When I tried this, it doesnt sound like this lol.
Mileage may vary… 🤣
