I walk everyday along the corridor of my appartment! I lost my dear husband five years ago and moved into an apartment. So now I walk 1200 steps each hour along the corridor. I meet lots of other folk who live beside me. I walk for 15 minutes each hour for four hours every day! I don’t have to worry about the weather and wear whatever I wear!Im 83 years old and feel great! Thanks for all of this good info! 7:14

I dislocated my right ankle 4 yrs ago. Broke 3 bones and torn everything. Surgery, receiving 6 pins and multiple screws. It took me nearly 2 1/2 yrs to get back. I was a runner. In the summer of 2021 out of the blue I had a massive bout with depression. Seemingly came out of nowhere, for no reason, and it hit me like a ton of bricks. I Couldn’t sleep, I couldn’t eat and literally couldn’t get out of bed. Zero motivation and I even became borderline suicidal. I went to talk to a therapist out of fear that I may act on the suicidal thoughts, she told me to start walking or jogging everyday. I will never forget the depths of that period of depression in my life. I lost over 30 pounds from having no appetite and just laid in bed all day, everyday. Finally I started to walk which turned into running. THE WAY IT MADE ME FEEL WAS SIMPLY AMAZING!! The RUNNERS HIGH is real and it is powerful!! Within a few short weeks I was back to my old self. To this day, I believe this therapist saved my life with such simple advice. Walking and Running were my personal cure. Don’t hesitate, get after it today and change your life. No matter how low you may be feeling, know that you are loved and YOU CAN YET THROUGH THIS with a little will power!! Brighter days are ahead!! Go get them!
I've been walking 3 to 4 mi a day I'm always looking forward to it. never was much for walking before the anxiety kicked in 2 months ago now the anxiety is almost gone.

I'm pushing 70, and only get 6- or 7,000 steps per day. I think it's an important part of my day. I don't "meditate" or anything, but I like to look and listen. I hear the birds, I see the squirrels, I pet the dogs of my fellow walkers. 30 or so minutes _well spent_ in my view.
73 here in Florida, 8 to 12k steps in the summer. Way to hot and UV index maxes out. Can only walk early morning and late evening. 10 to 20 k other seasons. Weighted vest in the AM.

I've got to disagree with listening to music (or any other distraction) while walking. You are out in the real world and there are a million things that can mess with you. I'm not talking about crime, though that's a factor, but anything from crossing streets to dog poop. Be in the moment.

When I walk to the store or to the bus stop, I say my prayers. I get my spiritual work in,besides my physical, and mental health. A win,win,win.
I suffer with sciatica and complex PTSD but I still walk everyday up to two hours a day no matter the weather I'm out as I have to be!

I just started walking a week ago. First 2 miles, then 3.5 miles in the morning. Jesus😮 this is great. I can get to it 10 minutes after I wake up.
