An old timer told me about that trick with the points. He called it a 'Dead Man Switch'. I ran one for 39 races back in the early '90's on a 1965 Triumph 650. Hill climbs & sidecar ice racing. The hillclimbs were AMA & they let me run it. A deadman switch is mandatory. I did it like the old man told me. I had a half of a popsicle stick with a hole drilled in it for a string which I tied to my wrist. They're wired to the ignition points to ground them out when the popsicle stick is removed.
