I have an old original paint 56 with flamboyant green tanks and champion yellow fenders. I believe that dash is the correct one for 56. I have the same one on mine. That’s a great score.
If you have more bikes , it might be nice to keep one just as you found it, if you must change anything make shure to take some real good photos of this ‘gem’ this is truly what bikeing was all about, guys did what they could with what they had, the extras are what make this ‘’scooter’’ special, I have been riding since ‘63’ and this bike brought back many memories. You could write a book about the the little things this bike has had done to it ,where the parts and pieces came from and how they where fitted on ,the thought that went into each each little item and how proud the man was of each little modification that was made, i like accessories, both factory and custom ,each to ones own taste, the finned brake cooler is great ,I’ve had them before ,but i do think you could sneak on some sort of seat rail, it’s just too obvious that something is missing and a pair of tank crests before you go for a putt RIDE SAFE MY FRIEND & RIDE FAR-----O&O----

Incredible score, I would have loved a more detailed tour of the homespun accessories.

Looks like he went through Pep Boys with a big magnet on the bike! It will be fun getting it running.
Nice find, she's a beauty
I'm an acorn nut fiend as well; nothing spruces up a bike like a couple dozen acorn nuts 🙂
incredible bike!
What a beauty!
Incredible man. Making a living living. Good shit.
Can't wait to hear it run and see it ridden!
Congrats on this bike!
The leather helmet is AMAZING !!
Take a good look at how well those bags have held up for 68 years! It's too bad that Softail bags turn to mush in a couple of years.
Nice find
What was the purchase price?
Usually that's the best part of the story.
