Nice informative video. Would be great to see a video of what you wore on your trip or maybe a video saying what you used/did not use from what you packed, what were you missing and what new items did you buy along the way.

You will not regret the jumpers, when I was in San Francisco in July, it was not warm I spend most days in a jumper or a jacket :-)
Yes! You’ve definitely done all the research, you won’t regret bringing the jumpers when you’re in SF. Generally travel to California doesn’t require mozzy spray but you’re totally right, depending on where you’re hiking, it might be nice to have.
Mark must love how much of a minimalist you are! It makes everything easier when there’s less stuff.

Thank you for the video. I think the idea from Kkiissuu who suggested a post trip analysis of your packing is spot on, a look at what you used/needed/what was superfluous etc, is brilliant. Worth considering when you return.

This is so helpful! I‘m going on a 5-Week trip to the USA in September and also doing the same roadtrip as you are! But my friend and I decided to put her suitcase into mine, which is a bit bigger, so we only have to pay for one piece of luggage for the first couple of flights! So I have to pack my stuff into half of a suitcase 😂 But I‘m so excited I already have a packing list, propably doing your 10item method😄

Heaven! Your packing videos are my favourite thing on the internet. For realz. I feel like I'm not only packing vicariously- which I love - but travelling too. I love the SpaceNK beauty bags and may have to buy one (or two!) and the Cult Beauty case looks fab. I'm amazed how much you fitted in and thought what you were taking was perfect. Except I'd have had to squeeze in the white oversized shirt. I think you always need a big white shirt *wherever* you go. I hope you're having a wonderful time. Safe and happy driving. When I visited San Francisco, it was pretty windy & chilly. And it was July. You'll appreciate your jacket & jumper. Have lots of fun!
This was so satisfying to watch, love the packing cubes I use net ones that are similar. We did 2 road trips to the states (west coast too) about 10 years ago, and you’re right about the weather each state is different. And especially the national parks, it’s bug central so you’ll need that spray! Have a great time!
Love watching your packing videos - packing cubes are the greatest invention ever! I also put my oufits into like the ikea food bags ready and then sit on them to they're like vacuumed packed/sealed and it saves tons of room in my case :)

packing cubes are the best thing ever , my sons gone to Idaho for a month and being 6 ft mens clothes are bigger but i got everything into a medium suitcase ( not sure how if he can pack as good as me ) haha . have a great trip Anna & Mark xx

I travel a lot and my two must haves are 1) compression packing cubes (compression is key) and travel sized makeup and skincare (3oz each or less so everything can be carried on). The compression cubes were a game changer. I got mine on Amazon.
Im going to Belgium for 3 weeks and its always tricky to pack too because the weather there is unpredictable. Your video is quite handy actually.
You need layers for Belgium. Aside from the optional pair of heels you might want to bring, you need something like a pair of leather New Balances, because they’re great to wear under rain and also in colder weather, and a pair of Converses for the warmer days. The rest is packing leggings and jeans, then tops and cardigans and jumpers, and some of the “nicer” clothes like dresses and shirts. Always keep a rain cape, and if you have one of those tiny Samsonite umbrellas, you’ll be good to go. The key is layers, because it does get quite warm around noon, but it can also get windy and chilly all of a sudden. Bring a bag that can fit in an additional jumper or scarf to carry around.

Next month I've got a business meeting in Colorado from which I'll be leaving to spend a couple weeks in Yellowstone & Grand Teton--your packing requirements greatly mirror my own & I desperately need toiletry downsizing inspo. You’re very brave packing your Loeve Puzzle bag in your check on. Do you not worry about the bag being lost/stolen? Do you put some things in Mark’s suitcase? Suggestion to put a few things in and have him put some stuff in yours in case either bag is lost 😊

I am going to Washington and there is things to look nice for and things to where hiking boots and leggings as well. I am glad I came across this video it came in handy(I even had room to pack more if I needed + Souvenirs)
Perfect!! I’m going to Miami this weekend then New Orleans next weekend so I’m ready to pack! It’s so cool but also so funny to me how people travel to the US, idk why I guess I assume that Europe is so much cooler than us! I will say Yosemite is amazing, definitely do Mist Trail if you can (you may need a poncho or rain jacket).
Have a fab time! We did a similar trip last year. I used packing cubes which were so great for travelling around. Lake Tahoe is stunning - go to Resort at Squaw Creek - it’s beautiful, and you must do Glacier Point in Yosemite !

When you go to Napa, stop by Sift. They sell cupcakes and cookie sandwiches. There is also a Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s next to it if you want more desserts 😊.

ANNA!! I'm doing a one week version of this trip in a few weeks for my honeymoon- we're driving from SF to LA along the coast, we might even be there at the same time! But this was incredibly helpful and timely :)
so excited for you to go to Lake Tahoe. It's my favorite place in the world. If you are going to be hiking, you might pick up some icyhot and Epsom salts at a drug store when you get there. Helps with soreness.

Idk how strict your itinerary is but you should totally hit up the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It’s between Big Sur and San Francisco. I know you must be thinking “oh it’s just an aquarium” but I promise it’s like nothing you’ve seen before. They have a lot of really unique features and they’re one of the best marine laboratories in the world. They’ve really lead the way in conservation and technology so it’s totally worth looking into.
Have a loveky time, Anna. Did the Pacific Coast Highway in August 10 years ago. San Francisco was nippy. The Pacific does not have a warming current like the Atlantic.
A bit late but yes, so many mosquitoes this time of year in the Sierras! LA and SF will be fine but they go crazy when the snow melts.
One of my favorite things to do!! I’ve done the California road trip 3 times. Places not to be missed: Carmel by the Sea, San Luis Obispo, Big Sur, Laguna Beach, General Sherman (sequoia park).

Would you ever see the need to purchase the large? The company is giving a discount if you purchase one carry on and one checked size luggage or 1 carry on and 2 checked (i got the bigger carry-on and the medium) but I’m curious to know if the large is even worth it. Great video!!
