Giovanni’s Room is one of my favorite books of all time. Heartbreaking but beautiful story. Hope you enjoy it!
If you haven’t read already I would recommend Wash Day Diaries. I believe one of the characters is bisexual.

      I LOVE WASH DAY DIARIES!!
It's so refreshing to see someone else promote this book. It's not talked about enough imo.

Happy belated birthday! I just celebrated mine a few days ago too.
    Queer Horror Recs:
    Homesick - Nino Cipri
    Manhunt - Gretchen Felker-Martin
Tell Me I’m Worthless - Allison Rumfitt
Her Body And Other Parties - Carmen Maria Machado
Hell Followed With Us and/or The Spirit Bares Its Teeth by Andrew Joseph White
Ahh and then you have Manhunt on your shelves. :)
I really liked Nevada as well. I read it last year for TransGirlApril. The Great Believers is on my TBR this June. On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous is one of my all time faves. It’s so good.
I’m not the right person for romance recs, but I did enjoy Red, White, and Royal Blue by Casey McQuiston.
Detransition Baby was a good book, but I definitely think there were parts I didn’t all the way get.
    Giovanni’s Room is so good.
Ooh there’s Hell Followed With Us. Be warned, it’s super brutal.

Happy belated birthday! Enjoyed seeing your shelves and collection; you have some great options for June. I highly recommend She Who Became the Sun! It features a sapphic relationship and a gay yearning (will they, won't they) between two male characters.
The Prophets is one of my favorite books of all time! It is such a beautifully written book that pulls at your heart's strings and makes the characters come to life. I think it was the first book I read featuring queer enslaved people.

      Thank you!!
Ooooo...you just pushed The Prophets way up there to read this month!! It sounds incredible but haven't heard much about it in general. Glad to hear someone's opinion (and that it's a positive one!)

Its been awhile since I've read The Fifth Season but I do believe it did have a little bit of queer rep in it. I need to re-read it so I can finish the trilogy.

Happy belated birthday, welcome to the 30’s club!! 😀🎉🎉 Loved seeing your shelves, sounds like there are a lot of great potentials for this month! I recently picked up Bright Young Women from a blind date with a book event and I’m excited to hopefully get to that soon! Also very intrigued by This Is How You Lose the Time War. I believe Malibu Rising does have some queer elements but it wasn’t my favorite book of TJR so I wouldn’t rush to read it, haha

I have only read The Seven Husbands Of Evelyn Hugo so far. I really enjoyed it and want to pick up another. What do you prefer?! :)
(It doesn't have to contain queer elements. Just curious as to which books of hers you enjoyed the most!)

@@scottieshereereadsSo my top two favorites of hers so far have been Daisy Jones and The Six and One True Loves! Closely followed by Evelyn Hugo. Really enjoy her writing in general but recommend those two 😊

One of the main characters of Jade City is queer. The uncensored version of A Portrait of Dorian Grey has queer elements, but many editions are censored, even today. Another queer book I read recently is Lunar Boy, an all-ages Indonesian sci-fi comic.

I haven’t heard of Lunar Boy before. Going to check it out now 🫡💛

Happy belated birthday! I really love this video! Some queer horror that I really love: The Sacrifice by Rin Chupeco, Dead Collections by Isaac Fellman, everything by Andrew Joseph White! I just finished Manhunt and whew that was a ride. A lot of it was really uncomfortable and after reading I heard some things about the author that makes it even more uncomfortable (Goodreads reviews made me research). But there was also a lot I really loved about it and I am so conflicted.^^ I'm currently reading and enjoying The Z Word by Lindsay King-Miler. What I'm in the search for is more (queer) horror by BIPoC authors. I want to check Tananarive Due out, have you ever read something by her and can give me a suggestion of where to start?

    • @scottieshereereads

Thank you for the horror recs!!
And yes! The only book I've read by Tananarive Due is her newest book "The Reformatory" and I absolutely loved it!!
I am eager to pick up more from her.
