This video, with an unknown cable overhead, shows just one more obstacle which farmers have to contend with nowadays! Great to see how great farmers like these can still succeed!!!
There’s always something that goes wrong never fails good thing you noticed before it was to late. We’re hoping to start cutting beans next week. Can’t wait till you guys start great video
Sorry to see the cable trouble. I always find it interesting to see a corn field opened up. Could you put the go pro on the front of the tractor to see that perspective of opening up a section?
Very nice. Pain with the lines though. My boss has a couple corn fields that has the big power lines from Syracuse going through them, and they're always doing something to them.aways enjoy watching the 4555 at work.
@@mikep7810 I'm from Lisbon actually. Work for LT Smith Farms in Canton. That's where the lines run from is Syracuse, well, Utica actually. They go from Syracuse to around Utica. Then they split off again, one set heads North towards us. They're quite a site.
I went past your farm the few days ago and seen tractor and chopper parked by shop and thought about stopping in and saying hi but was in a hurry to get too mckees tire for a tube
I found some interesting things in my cornfields before but never a phone wire that was only partially hung but these big companies don’t get it when it comes to agriculture I found a stolen motorcycle in a cornfield one time years ago that was interesting someone was trying to hide it there
Good show Mike, glad 2 C things R improving. Understand utility easements, but that is difficult 2 wrap my head around that cable in the middle of your corn field! 👍👏😊
Phone lines are a rather odd additive to give to your livestock, especially if you don't notice it until it's too late. If that had got into the chopper it would either have got tangled in the machinery or it would have been ripped to feed sized shredded phone cable. I'm not a farmer myself, but I must say these phone companies don't even bother checking before they put a line over a field.
@@mikep7810 you would need the accompanying Jaws music for more dramatic effect!! I had a frost monday nite but not a killer. Sounds like this weekend a different story.
Nice looking corn we are 4 days into chopping now so for so good looks like its going to be in the 20s at night over here after that the corn will be more then dry have a great day
Dry corn get the water hose and bring the silage up to proper moisture level and it will cure just fine in the silo. Some farmers like this fix others not so much.
we like are corn silage a bit on the dry side mike we are thanking about buying a 2ad Pull behind chopper so this way we can have too going at the same time you got any Brand of choppers Recommend
Haha the thought crossed our mind, but when he first saw it he didn't know what it was, if it was a live wire or not so we tried to do the right thing and get around it and call the company
We ended up with free cable and a new haybine because they ran line in a hay field, without telling us... in June, and we found it with our old haybine!
We had the same problem last fall. Internet company ran cable past our farm entrance and we couldn't get combine under it. Ended up cutting it off because they wouldn't move it.
your songwriter is John Lennon but you should check out "Days Like This" from Van "the man" Morrison - great song and a native of Ireland - "Well my Mama told me there'll be days like this"
I hold no shame. I would have wrapped the cable up and tossed it to the side. My work is not going to wait for someone else. Phone companies in my area don't really care. Had semis rip cables, cables simple fall down and trash trucks rip them down. Got to the point we just wrao them up and throw them by the pole.
The way my luck is, I probably would've had that phone line tore out before I knew it. That looks like a pretty nice chopper you guys have there. Stay safe.
Years ago we had the high wire bunch bushog a field of corn they said if its in the right of way they could do that. My boss kindly drug the guy out of hus truck and well they never mowed our corn again lol
@@mikep7810 that definitely makes all the difference in milk production, keeping your livestock comfortable, clean,as stress-free as possible and feeding a constant guality feed they are used to consuming, there is alot that goes into producing a high quality milk with plenty of butter fat and others factors that go into grading milk, what about doing a in depth video on some of things that will change a cows quality and production to let the average person that doesn't have a clue about milk except they buy it in the stores heck this might even be a 2 or 3 part video

Great awesome video mike, that don’t supraise me about the phone cable they put the stupid thing just under the grass or on top of the ground , it’s like they don’t give a crap 💩
Its going alright. We got the field with the wire down all chopped and in the silo. The fields on the flat are a little too green yet to put in the silo so we are going to try to get some 4th cutting alfalfa chopped. I seen Brandon was packing the bunk the other day!
They fly a light rope over with a chopper then pull the cable with it. power lines are the same. sometimes a bulldozer is required for the pull. glad you didn't grab it! if it fell on a power line it would be like the hand of god touching you.
Sure, If they never came and got it taken care of we probably would have, but we didn't wanna knock down corn because of someone else. We gave them the opportunity to fix their problem

Thank you Dick. I'm glad you enjoyed the video
That 4555 is so cool. It’s almost like when you see a classic muscle car. Beautiful part of the country you live in as well.
Thank you. It really is a nice location and I like your comparison of the 4555 to a classic muscle car
That river beside the corn field looks Awesome 👍
Its very nice scenery working thise fields down there
Hope things get better. The first day of anything on the farm is always interesting to say the least.
Thanks Zeke. You are right, day 1 is always the crazy day

great video mike, how do the phone company get to put a wire across your farm without your consent, don't hold back, thanks for sharing
Thank you Tony. We rent this field. I'm not even sure how they ran the line without taking out any corn
I like the random kayakers, lol
I was in the side by side with my mom flying the drone and I asked her if I should chase them lol
mikep7810 now THAT would have made a great video 😂
Haha right
Thank you Mike for another great video.

It a wonder how some of these companies stay in business
It just adds to the fun of farming!! Besides the next field he got to chop corn on the beach, there was kayakers in the background!!

Feels like an early fall and rough winter on the way ! 50 's here this weeknd leaves falling already etc , chilly today and rain again smh !
Its been some chilly mornings when I walk out
Do you spray and spread fertilizer on you're crops?
The fertilizer is put in the front of the planter when we plant. We don't do our own spraying

4555 handles the chopper with ease. Must have been a little oversight on the phone companies part to leave cables dangling like that.
Yeah the horsepower is turned up a little in the 4555
I found an abandon/stolen cement truck with a dead hooker inside. Was up on my grain cart and was like "is that a concrete truck"??????????
Holy cow thats insane!
If they don’t come to fix it just pull it down with the spout from the chopper. Then they can wait till after harvest.
We were able to get the field chopped. It will be interesting to see how long it takes them to come back and finish

Run it with out a shear bar :)!!! Ha .my cousin in pa just started choopinh his corn 🌽 said he could finally get into his fields ,

a couple hundred
Sucks about the phone line, but I enjoyed the chopping footage!! We could nickname you Andy if you want LOL
