I chop about 50 acres sweet corn every year after it is hand picked. It is all chopped into green feed wagons & fed green - the greener the better. Makes really good green chop to keep the mama cows & calves happy when pastures taper off production.

Growing up all the other harvesting operations I got to see and do, but it seemed chopping corn was done so fast that it was over by time I got out of school and basketball practice so I missed that. Filling a 10 x 35 and a 14 x 40 with two wagons was done in about 4 days. This is by far a favorite harvest operation, thanks. The Dion head makes life much better, here we thought a self propelled four row chopper was the limit lol

That is one incredible hungry machine, I assume you have a cattle operation. I am in SW Illinois and it seems each harvest season that someone gets tangled up in a drive belt or chain or gearing, you have probably heard it before. Excellent drone footage, I think I saw it land near the end of the vid. Good job!!!

Coffee with Mike this morning. The drone shots give a good look at your dad's sweet corn. It's a good sized patch he has there. The dion head gives you options in direction of cut which is helpful with some of the shape and size fields we have. Thumbs up see you on the next one

GReat video. At what stage do you chop sweet corn? We usually chop at 30% of dry matter or we determine the right on the basis of milk line...

If we don't make our turns too good we can knock some down. It does a pretty good job picking up the down corn. If you watch on the part where the camera is on the chopper you can see it pulling some down/bent corn into the feederhouse

We usually do go with the rows. This field was sweet corn and it was planted that way to be walked through and picked. The good thing about this head is a lot of guys that use it go continuously around not just with the rows.

I'm assuming you mean the chopper. It all depends the year and model you want. One of the dealerships we deal with has a 2008 FP240 (like this one) for 33 grand. That doesn't include the hay head or the corn head. That Dion F64 corn head is around 20 grand
