I've had one for at least 5 years. It came with small bottle of Sun Joe chain oil which is better for electric/battery saws & available in quarts. Saw cuts much better than 40 Volt battery chainsaw. It's almost as good as gas chainsaw without starting hassles. Have cut up to 8" diameter hardwood easily.
@@DoresoomReviews some bar & chain oils like Poulan & others have a honey like stickiness that don’t feed well in electric & battery powered chainsaws. I have 2 battery powered & the Sun Joe chainsaw & none feed regular chain oil well even one that has a manual bulb feed. Gas powered saws get a lot hotter along with fast chain speed & 30 weight or multi weight viscosity chain oil flows & visibly slings easily from them. I found using them in electric/battery saws that the bars & chains ran too dry to the point when I drained them I’d have almost the same amount I put in originally. Didn’t have that with Sun Joe oil so I got more. It seems less viscous but viscosity isn’t stated.
Love that sun joe. I trimmed a tree up that was near my garage and it did a great job even cutting branches up to 6” and between using a little giant ladder and standing on the garage roof I got the tree trimmed up to around 20ft high all around. Transformed the look of the tree and made it much safer for the garage
Perfect instruction and use video. I feel good about having purchased a great tool for me as a mature user. Now, I have what I need, instead of more than I need. Thanks!
Thank you for this video. I bought mine last year and have not used it yet. I've read that Vegetable Oils such as Canola Oil are a good temporary substitute as they are bio-degradable.
Great video. I wish I found it first as I just unboxed my saw. Totally agree about the wrench. Was just thinking I have to make a label for it so everyone knows what tool it pairs to.
Thanks! From what I can tell they have an articulating model with plastic bucking spikes (the one I reviewed) and a fixed-angle model with metal bucking spikes. But there's always a chance I just couldn't find the newest model with both!
My sunjoe is dull, won't cut, blade in the right direction, just wondering is it the blade, or oil the problem? but i already add the oil in it, is it possible the oil stuck not go to the chain? does it matter chain without oil? oh long time haven't used it, bought new and used it maybe twice or 3 times, thanks.
I wish it were longer so that you could reach those limbs from a lower rung on the ladder, and/or avoid getting on the roof at all. Since you didn't lay it on the table at the end of the video, I had to freeze frame it to see it from one end to the other. You should have told us your height to give it some scale.
My Sun Joe electric mower has been doing well for a few years, and the 100 ft 10 gauge extension cord I purchased for that, will be just the ticket if I decide to purchase this chainsaw. Have you found that the oil reservoir ever leaks/oozes while in use, or in storage? Thanks for the well-edited, efficient, and thorough review!
@Doresoom Tool Reviews Not really in my five decades of experience. But, I do see references to it on the big e-commerce seller's website reviews for this saw. I'm more interested in what the best position to store the saw would be, as opposed to just running the saw down. I figure it's popular for good reasons; I just have limited storage space.
I definitely would have lost it by now in my garage full of tools if I hadn't designed and 3D printed a clip that attaches the wrench to the cord stub.
Actually not this time, although I've definitely done so in the past! The reason for the jump cut was so you didn't have to waste time watching me pour oil. If I didn't edit the video, it would be 30 minutes long, which is a waste of everyone's time.
I didn't feel like it was safe to use it on a ladder either, so I'd stick with what the manual says. You absolutely need two hands to control the saw, which leaves you without three points of contact to use the ladder safely. It's also easy to get unbalanced when using the pole saw extended all the way out, which makes it even more dangerous to stand on a ladder without a hand available to steady yourself. Also if you don't plan the cut right, falling branches can easily knock you off a ladder. The one shot in the video where I cut from the ladder, I was braced against the corner of my roof and stable. When I needed to reach higher, I sat on my roof and cut from a stable position there.
Wee-oh wee-oh, "Oh look everyone, we're saved! The UA-cam Safety Police are on the scene!" 😂 Should you always wear eye pro? Yes. Do you always need to wear gloves with a pole saw when the business end is 6+ feet away? Nope.
Just the video I was looking for! Thanks so much for the detailed assembly! Bought this months ago and now feel ready to put together and use!
Glad I could help!
Thank you for your help. I needed a refresh on how to keep the chain tension correct. Great video!

Interesting, I didn't know they made bar oil specifically for electric saws. I'll have to look into why.

I was wondering if it was thinner due to less heat. Thanks for confirming!
Excellent review, concise, thorough, and very clear

That was my same method for extra reach - Little Giant ladder and my roof! 😄

Excellent training video for beginners!
Thanks for your review and setup demo!!
Thank you so much for clear and full coverage video. I’m buying it after watching your video.
By the way, how much it cost ?
Glad I could help! I think I got mine for $80, but it fluctuates quite a bit.
Thanks for your quick reply. I just paid $62 for it on their website.
Thank you so much for sharing.. I will definitely be using mine
Works great, but many, many, people have lost chain tensioning screw, including myself!
Thanks so much for making this video, very helpful!

There are better videos where peoole actually put on safety glasses and wear damn gloves…
The think the newer model shows metal spikes on the oil-fill side...better. Thanks for posting.

I have a battery one and am surprised at how awkward and heavy the top is. I can only do a few branches at a time.
What is bar and chain lubricant used for?
Thank you for this simple explanation of putting this saw together!
A chainsaw needs bar and chain oil, otherwise it will overheat and can damage the bar, break the chain, and overheat the motor.
Thank you for the video!
Thanks for you video. I am like you. I have two trees that need to be trimmed periodically and was looking for an inexpensive solution
Glad it was helpful!
Would have been sweet to be able to see you adjust the tension… still need to see that lol
I showed how to do that at 3:12

I covered the actual length at 4:26

Now that is a beast of an extension cord! It seeps a little bit of oil while in storage, but not too much.
great video thank you
I had mine a year and now it want come on. I only used it three times. It’s booty!
What type oil should I use ?
Any oil labeled "bar and chain oil"
Good price. I think ill order one. I wont use it very often so dont need anything fancy.
My thoughts exactly when I picked mine up!
Does it take 2cycle ino it came with oil
No, you need to use bar and chain oil with it.
Did anyone have an issue with the Bar Oil leaking out of the pole saw? Asking for a friend...lol...
In storage? Just about all chainsaws will do that.

my saw leaks oil all over i opened it up and the tubes are melted and gewey
What type of chain oil
Any oil at the hardware store labeled "bar and chain oil."
Thanks
It didn’t come with no chain oil
Great instructional video...very detailed. Thank you!
You’ll be okay with just setting the wrench down 😂 unless you lose stuff quick 😂
I definitely would have lost it by now in my garage full of tools if I hadn't designed and 3D printed a clip that attaches the wrench to the cord stub.
Oiler doesn't work on mine making the saw useless
Return it if it's new, otherwise I'd file a warranty claim with Sun Joe.
👍🏻🍻🍺🐶
he definitely overfilled the oil and had to jump cut lol

the manual said to never use the saw while on a ladder.....what gives here....seems like bad advice
I didn't feel like it was safe to use it on a ladder either, so I'd stick with what the manual says. I bought this doesnt cut much its a joke
Are you sure you have the chain on the right direction?
That’s odd, mine cut up to 8” large branch. Not recommended but that’s the only thing I had no time to buy another.
very helpful video, thanks for sharing the tips.
No glasses on . No gloves on..great example …
