i agree with almost every point except the 86 efi delete because 86 heads, intake, and EFI are all horrible, and certain one piece headlights on racecars are ok, and i whole heartedly agree on not ruining a beautiful LX with a gaudy plastic 87-93 GT body kit😁. i especially agree on not ever, ever swapping a LS into any Ford especially a fox body
I’m pretty sure most people put carbs on 86s because they run speed density not MAF so you can’t run a bigger cam or heads without needing one of those old school computer chips. Makes total sense to me why someone would just go carb.
Don't own a Mustang, but owned Ford trucks the last 21 years of my life. I hate the modern mustangs,, they look big, but they are so cramped on the inside. The Fox Bodies Mustangs have always been my favorite, and thry are fun to drive. Came across this video, just subscribed.
I agree totally. My 88 was painted 4 time before I got it and they painted the intake each time they repainted the car. I do have to admit back in the 90’s I had the monster tach on the dash.
You have to remember the Mustang is the most customized/personalized car on the planet. Doesn’t mean you can’t express your own opinion, just remember you are looking to ‘add’ followers, not subtract.
I'm totally on board with number one. Putting an ls engine in a Fox is like putting an outhouse in a elevator. Don't belong. That's what Cameros are for. Their taking away the music when taking out the old 5.0, I don't even want the new 5.0 in there, same thing. Maybe the EFI 5.8 but that's it and take off those big ass wheels, makes it look like a tacky looking cartoon car.
Firm believer of if you payed for it you can do whatever tf you wanna do. Not saying I'd do any of these things. But still ppl be judging when they didn't pay for it
I disagree with the EFI to Carb swap. You can't do several mods on your car without constantly tuning your car, putting a computer in your car, and constantly moving the idle. Like every day.
@Eric C usually on a foxbody it lets you get away with a couple of mods since the computers aren't that advanced. But after a couple more it has to be tuned. It becomes a headache.
@@notsure7874 Yes, but Speed Density was always a bitch, and limited to what you could do with a eec-4(?) computer. The only people I know who swear by using them are SVO guys, who swap in 87 Turbo Coupe ecu's, because they have a better tune, than the SVO ones.
In 2004 i was living in west palm beach and i went to a friend of a friends house and he had a back yard full of stolen foxbodys probably 4 or 5 and he had a whole engine in the living room that was powder coated purple and chrome fuel injected 5.0 engine was immaculate, i still have that vision in my head of that stolen motor in some guys living room
I’m guilty of a few of these lol, after owning over 40 foxbodys over the years, but one I’ve never done of never will is put a LS or any Chevy engine in my foxbodys . I think it’s kinda funny that after the SBF wearing out the Chevy guys for the last 20 years they try pushing the LS on all us ford guys now. Love the video man!
We’re killing the Ls guys on the streets with a NA 418-W with eBay Skip White cylinder heads that I reworked. Very little work in the right areas of the cylinder heads. Combustion chamber and some simple clean up, and properly gasket matching the intake to the cylinder heads. It’s funny watching the Ls guys looking for nitrous after they get gapped. We’ve been accused of hiding nitrous under the intake manifold.

As a diehard Ford and fox body guy, I think Ford should've offered a GT Coupe seeing as how they had a GT vert. Also, they should've kept the Capri as a corporate cousin to the Mustang. It may have kept Mercury alive to still have a performance car on deck
I think the stock tail lights seem to be the the best for me and in my opinion if you want to spice them up a bit is just go with a light smoke tail light tint.
I agree on 9 out of 10. I had many fox body mustangs from carburetor.to fuel injection and can say carburetor wins seat of the pants and is way more dependable.. But each fox mustang owner is his own.
In stock form, the FI system produces more torque - the "seat of the pants" low end. The carb atomizes fuel somewhat better. As for dependable ... well, that depends on what kind of stupid has gone on with the fuel injection system in the past. I've had some carb cars that were so bad that if you depended on it to fail - it'd let you down. I've seen carbs that had been forked with so badly that the owner swapped to an edelbrock to fix the problems.
Agree with them all, and NEVER do an LS swap on ANY Mustang!! One of the car shows I went to, the only mustang that didn't get an award was the one with the LS swap!
They literally make me sick at this point lol. I can't stand ls swap mustangs. If ya want an ls that bad buy a gm. Do an s10 or a camaro or old g body something anything just don't ruin a mustang.
Yep, Sounds Right. I'm Still Rocking My '92 Deep Jewel Green GT That I Bought Back In '95 With 31K Miles For 12 Grand. She Has 185K+ Miles Now & I'm So Glad I Never Sold Her!! I Did Cut The Rear Bumper For LX Tips Back In '00, But Just For A Few Weeks Until My '93 Cobra Rear Bumper Was Painted.

I couldn't agree with #1 more. A bow-tie motor in a Foxbody is sacrilege! As for #2 please don't judge me to harshly. After an uninsured motorist tuned in front of me, a GT nose was the only replacement I could find in my price range. However, I did not do the whole GT ground effects package. I only did what I had to do. And with the Cobra grill insert, most folks don't notice until I point it out.
Have to say the Euro tail lamps should have been higher for sure. but I can't argue with your #1 choice. BTW, I did paint my intake as it was nasty after 170,000+ miles. Ford blue of course. Good job!

Mine was a special edition, 1989 1/2, well it still is, it was Almond, with the SALEEN package, and ram air hood absolutely sexy. But after a few years, in 92 I painted it hot pink with a blue pearl clearcoat. NOW, I've had the ground effects off for about 15 years, but still look back at the old photos of both versions and she was incredible. Mybcustom paint is overcf39 years old now. This summer my notch will get a new color and remain skirtless, the Saleen wing is gone, but my functional Ram Air hood stays. I still think Sales a are sexy 😜

The one thing about after market one piece headlight kits.....how do you adjust the headlights if they are in a fixed position being one piece?? The one hassle I have with new 6 piece headlights is getting them properly aligned so you can see where you are going. If you install the fancy one piece headlight kits....how well can you see at night???
My 90 came with the cheese graters and I replaced them with LX lights and love the look the only thing I regret is selling the cheese graters I wish I would've held onto them just to have.
Agree with all except painting the intake Ford engine grey. I did that with my ported Exploder, to make it look stock. I buried a separate shift light down low out of sight. No monster tachs. Me 86 coupe has 4 piece headlights.....
Some struck home. I removed "Altezza" taillights from my supercharged 88 GT and went back to the cheese grates just before I sold it. I used a Kenne-Bell supercharger to avoid an after market hood. And I just returned a 93 SVT Cobra I bought as junk back to the original headlights.
I have a 1990 GT. It's dark blue on top and gray on the bottom. I'm considering painting it all dark blue as the gray is starting to show It's age. Is that a sin? I honestly can't decide!
Great video, very entertaining! The one thing I would say is that although I don't recommend removing a healthy AC system from your Fox, I got rid of mine (it was shot) and have never regretted it. It had nothing to do with the tiny fraction of a horsepower you might save, but more to do with getting rid of extra weight and clutter under the hood. I would say that the only reason to keep your AC is that the Fox is your only car, and you live in an area that is hot all the time. My Mustang gets driven a lot, but if it's so hot and humid that I feel the need for AC, I drive my truck. The 'Stang feels like a pig in that kind of weather anyway.

i agree with almost every point except the 86 efi delete because 86 heads, intake, and EFI are all horrible, and certain one piece headlights on racecars are ok, and i whole heartedly agree on not ruining a beautiful LX with a gaudy plastic 87-93 GT body kit😁. i especially agree on not ever, ever swapping a LS into any Ford especially a fox body
A build is a build everyone should be able to put whatever on their car, I love every car build bc it's something they wanted to make happen and did
Spoken like a true hater
Truth
Saleen wing on a notch is sweet. Takes me back to the 90's, rollin in my 5.0
I agree totally. My 88 was painted 4 time before I got it and they painted the intake each time they repainted the car. I do have to admit back in the 90’s I had the monster tach on the dash.
i sprayed my intake gunmetal, thought it looked good lol It was in a 89 lincoln towncar with the porno red interior holla at ya boi
Wow. I actually agree with all of these. Except for the Saleen wing on the LX. I think that looks way better than the stock lx wing.
Not to mention saleen actually made notchbacks with that wing lol
@@moonshiner0197 notice he had a real Saleen notch as don't do GT bumpers and skirt.
I love the saleen wing on the lx, i dont care what anyone says.
I think the Saleen wing on a convertible looks really good at the end of the day if it was good enough for Steve Saleen then it’s good enough for me
I have a fox 87 2.3, what engine would be good for it? :)
A lot of options out here
You have to remember the Mustang is the most customized/personalized car on the planet. Doesn’t mean you can’t express your own opinion, just remember you are looking to ‘add’ followers, not subtract.
No, Nissan s13 s14 si the most customized car
87-93 Saleen Notchbacks are the best lol. The Saleen kit with the rear wing on a notch are perfect.
Central Florida subscriber here.. appreciate all your videos.
I run a 90' 5.0 h.o. lx 5spd convertible
Thank you so much
Firm believer of if you payed for it you can do whatever tf you wanna do. Not saying I'd do any of these things. But still ppl be judging when they didn't pay for it
Definitely agree with most of what was said ! Great content as always bro 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Number one should’ve been don’t put a cobra badge on a non-cobra
I disagree with the EFI to Carb swap. You can't do several mods on your car without constantly tuning your car, putting a computer in your car, and constantly moving the idle. Like every day.
I'm right there with you. I have so many problems with the efi so I carb so and I can actually drive the car and be reliable.
@Eric C usually on a foxbody it lets you get away with a couple of mods since the computers aren't that advanced. But after a couple more it has to be tuned. It becomes a headache.
@@oscarvillarreal8951 You have to tune a carb once you mod the engine a certain amount too.
As long as you haven’t LS swapped all else is forgiven lol
LT swap it is then! :D
@@StainlessTIG2 Ford beats Chevys, Chevys beat Fords, Dodges beat them both and vice versa - and I've even seen a couple of Hondas smoke all 3. The brand loyalty thing kills me. Use what works for you whether its a stroked out 351, a a Hemi, RB, sbc / bbc, LS, LT, modular / coyote - whatever works.
For a restoration, I appreciate the car having at least things that were options for that car. I don't want to see a C2 Vette that's coyote swapped for example. For a race car it's an entirely different story. I don't care what the car came with from the factory.
@@notsure7874 I agree. I’ve owned them all. Had great luck but just my opinion and my experience, I’ve just had better results with Ford. That’s just me. I even built a 81 Volts wagon Rabbit. That car was crazy fun!
I agree with pretty much all of this. Only one I question is didnt Saleen make a nothback with ground effects?
Happy New Year Ken, I agree with all of them, but #1 keep GM( Garbage Motors) LS junk out of Fords period.
As a owner of a 1985 carb foxbody. I agree with not swapping the efi for carb. I have been think about making mine efi.
I agree with all 10, but I am guilty of #8. I inherited my 93 GT convertible with the tail pipe cutouts. I had planned to go back original. Thank for keeping it real.
Great video and I agree with you on all of these. I've owned my Fox since 1992 and it's changed alot for the better over the years!
Hold on, that grey painted intake looked pretty good tho lol
My car initially had a big 4” cowl hood for no reason. Engine is stock lol 1st thing I did was sell it lol
I also have horrible one piece headlights, the black ones. Those are next to go when I get it back. Hate those! Lol
Saleen wing used to be the IT spoiler back in the day! Not so much anymore.
When I saw these, I was thankful for the fact that one has to HAVE lunch first in order to lose it. Thank you for posting these.
The only one that matters is #1. Keep that LS mess out of your Mustang.
(Sad music playing) I'd like to apologize to my 93 GT Vert and to the Foxbody community. I was a victim of crappy three-light misalignments and oxidation... My poor 93 GT Vert had a hard life before I adopted it. I was about to make a terrible decision. Rather than looking into fixing the alignment and a new pair of headlights, I did a quick fix and bought the one piece without the knowledge I have now. I have learned now that that was a mistake and I need to apologize to the foxbody community and to all the people who saw me drive by with those ugly lights. I hereby commit to once I get my ride back on the road I promise, I will have some beautiful aligned three-piece headlights. 🤣😂 Ha ha love the video and your content! I was happy to learn I only had one no-no! Keep up the great work!
Lol 😂 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Also don't swap the interior with a new edge, looks awful 😕
One piece headlights.. tried it. When my 89 LX comes outta storage this spring, I have a set of new smoked 3 piece waiting😁😁
Cant believe wheel size didnt make the list. Figured that 18" max was coming for sure.
1990 Gt with trick flow heads, intake.Bought it with 18 " wheels, 245/35 front, 285/35 18 rear on 10 inch wheels. Was too stiff, especially on bumps, potholes.Switched to 245/45 R17 wheels on 8 inch wide Bullit wheels, better ride and still handles corners good.No more rubbing in back on bumps and still have room for rear quad shocks if desired.
what about when they paint the window frames the body color ?
Agreed
Let’s see how bad mine is 😂
10) OE Cobra lights are 🥵
9) 🤐 it’s just cast gray!
8) agreed! That’s ugly I do have mine out the side spat though
7) safe!
6) safeish.. I have the Cobra R hood to clear the turbo
5) safe!
4) 😬 had to put my alt there due to the turbo
3)Agreed
2) safe! 3 piece FTW
1) I’m still SBE 302
Damn I was scared for a sec, I got gt sideskirts on my calypso lx hatch and looking for gt rear bumper, 5.0 and t5 being rebuilt in my shed to swap in one day
NO LS SWAPS!!!!!
then also having real HP should be on the list
This is completely on point.
Haha great video brother and I agree with everything. Now if we could only get you to mention wheel diameter/width along with tire specs ;-).
Keep the content coming
I will still ditch the AC what are windows made for ac there that solves that problem
As a diehard Ford and fox body guy, I think Ford should've offered a GT Coupe seeing as how they had a GT vert. Also, they should've kept the Capri as a corporate cousin to the Mustang. It may have kept Mercury alive to still have a performance car on deck
I agree 100% it would have been awesome
They should have made a capri rs coupe
I think the stock tail lights seem to be the the best for me and in my opinion if you want to spice them up a bit is just go with a light smoke tail light tint.
Agreed
I’m putting a GT nose on my LX for one reason…….turning the fog light holes into brake cooling scoops.
If it offends……….oh well
I'm a new foxbody owner and thinking of putting a Ford 5.6 from a crown Vic in it. Any suggestions?
It's a 93 lx hatch
I'll add one I didn't see in the comments or on the list.
Colored wire loom looks Gawdy AF under the hood. It can be wayyy over done
As a S195 owner I thought I'd check out your video I agree with every one. You are right. Great video !
That moment when you have a pace car scoop and a saleen wing with sequentials. Rip
another one, never convert a 4 eye into and 87-93 body style
Gotta love the 4 eyed foxes!
I absolutely love the LS engine platform and in my opinion is one of the best upgrades u could do to your foxbody. Love or hate them you can't argue they make power period. 💪💪💪
yessir putting a 5.3 in a 93 right now back headers intake and everything 400 hsp + for cheaper than a crate 302 or 5.0 LS swap the world
If you want an ls get a gm. Are the gm cars that bad that you have to put the ls in mustangs? Like seriously I don't get it. There are plenty of ways to make power and go fast with fords. I'm sick of ls swaps.
@@connorbentley8361 I don't think it's gonna be as much cheaper as you think it is. There's alot more to it than just buying the engine. Why don't you just get a gm vehicle are their cars and trucks just crap or what.
I can make more power from a built 351w swap dollar for dollar what it takes to do the swap vs an LS. And if I really wanna go all out I can just get a Coyote
Because it's my dang vehicle and I'll swap it with whatever I want to witch is a bad ass LS and that's that unless you want to buy a engine for me. Ls swap the world idc what brand it is!!!!!!!!!!!!
Amen to this list brother. Glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this way.
I have to agree to disagree with some of these especially the cowl hood the car doesn't have to be fast to have one i mean it does make them look better i don't have one now I want say no name but one of your people that gives their opinions needs to reevaluate their cars before giving opinions
My lx didn’t come with ac😢. I have a polished intake manifold and don’t really mind a correct rattle can black manifold. I’m stuck on polished tho.
I just painted my valve covers and intake this year when I did gaskets. It felt wrong to take them off and not clean them up
Have to say the Euro tail lamps should have been higher for sure. but I can't argue with your #1 choice. BTW, I did paint my intake as it was nasty after 170,000+ miles. Ford blue of course. Good job!
#8 GT exhaust cutout. Well I did that and it looks amazing. Just gotta do it right.
Understood
@@BuiltVSBought copy that..
As an advocate of telling people to "Do what you want, its your car, as long as YOU love it, no one else has to", I disagree with everything in this video. I am a firm subscriber of Blue Oval Media and supporter of the channel, but this video should not have been made, sorry my man. You are telling everyone to stay the NORM when being unique separates us as individuals.
This video was done more as a joke and as something fun to do. I am an advocate of doing what you want as well. I am sorry that it did not make you laugh and know that I am not trying to keep us all the same. Some of the things that I mentioned are things that I have done but like I have said it's all in good fun.

Tell me why I should buy heads cam and intake for my Ford motor when I could buy an ls for cheaper and make same horsepower
You guy's left out, never paint the moldings around the glass! The factory matte black was the best look! 👍 Help to break up the lines! It's great! Nothing worse then seeing a bright color go all the way to the windows! 🤮 Great video! 👍
Mine is factory chrome
You all are right thanks for your information
You made a mistake on the last one!
The SALEEN package on the notch is not a GT kit swap! See... Look mom no fog lights 😜
Also it's hot AF! Including the ram air hood.
Otherwise I agree .
The Saleen notchbacks had pretty much the same ground effects on them. So what’s the problem?
I have one piece Headlights, I have a Carbureted Engine, I have ground effects on my notch, I have a cowl hood with a drag wing, I have half holes in my rear bumper for the exhaust, I have no A/C lol I almost got everything you mentioned.
But you are still alright with me lol

Ofcourse brother lol I enjoy watching your videos.
Not me spray painting my intake black😂😂😂
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Agree with all except painting the intake Ford engine grey. I did that with my ported Exploder, to make it look stock. I buried a separate shift light down low out of sight. No monster tachs. Me 86 coupe has 4 piece headlights.....
What would you say about SVT/SALEEN ground effects in a 2011 P71?
happy new year my boi love the ksd notch
I appreciate ya
Lx clear taillight not bad, the painted intakes look good, that black and red gt 40 explorer both look good
Pretty much described how I wanted to build my mustang at 16 lol. Still love Saleen wing, cowl hood and welds on a hatch for the nostalgia

Love your channel! You are my favorite foxbody UA-camr. Keep the great videos coming in 2022!!!
I know you mentioned not putting a Saleen wing on a notch, or convertible, but, what about the actual Saleen convertibles?
Love this video. Hope to find one some day
Some struck home. I removed "Altezza" taillights from my supercharged 88 GT and went back to the cheese grates just before I sold it. I used a Kenne-Bell supercharger to avoid an after market hood. And I just returned a 93 SVT Cobra I bought as junk back to the original headlights.
What wheels are on the black fox at the start of your video and tires sizes if you know ??
I have a 1990 GT. It's dark blue on top and gray on the bottom. I'm considering painting it all dark blue as the gray is starting to show It's age. Is that a sin? I honestly can't decide!
Keep it 2 tone pls... just get it repainted on the ground effects .
As a big "bang for the buck" fan, I don't have a big issue with replacing a 2.3 with an LS. Just don't mess up an original 5.0 Mustang. Don't.
@@jimanastasio192 If swapping out a 2.3L, I say go with a Coyote or another 302... no LS swap. It's not an original idea, for one.
Back in the day going cruising everyone had the monster tach. I had one but never got it mounted.
