    The gun is light, but my brother (an army vet) said the barrel is heavy. but after firing it, it actually compensated for the recoil. perfect gun

    The 5.7 round comes out of the five seven pistol with the velocity of some long guns. Pretty impressive

    I love the Five seveN and the p90 from an engineering perspective. I know a lot a people dislike the 5.7 round, but personally I wish they had been more widely adopted. Great video btw.

    The thing I like about a Mag release safety is if someone is attempting to take it from you from behind or whatever & it feels like you are loosing, you can drop the mag and know the guy will not shoot you with your own gun.

    I had one of these; but sold it out of needing money. I was easily hitting 8 inch targets at 200m using the pistol with adjustable sights. It can attract some attention on the range when people notice your doing that.

    Got mine Friday. Took it to the range today (Saturday). I shot 40 rounds without a hiccup with the FN and 66 rounds with the Smith & Wesson 5.7. without a single problem. The FN shot more accurately. But, the FN comes with better sights than the S&W. My plan is to install Hi Viz sights on both my S&W 5.7 and my S&W 22 mag. I have a Holosun 507 that is now resting in its box. I had trouble adjusting it. My best shooting has been with iron sights so far, but I am a novice when it comes to shooting pistols.

  • @TheWanskiz
    @TheWanskiz 12 років тому

    I like the trigger on my 57 a little long but crisp and light. Not a 1911 trigger but it does just fine. I love how people hate on the 5.7 when they have never shot one. I love mine and would use it over any 9mm. It's nice to know you can engage a target at extremely far distances with a pistol. If you can put the sights on it, you more then likely gonna put rounds on it, that simple.

    Hey bud, love your review, i have this gun , the gen2 like yours, everything you said about this gun is true. you could have mentioned camping and hiking purposes too , very lightweight and high capacity makes for a great outdoors gun.
    for the gentleman that wondered about the trigger reset, this gun has a very good reset.

    I liked your review, just a small suggestion. If a pistol does not have a good reset it can be the difference in making or breaking the purchase , maybe in future reviews you can try and give us a taste of what the reset is like on whatever particular firearm you are reviewing. Anyways good review man.

    The US Secret Service uses the FN P90. One of the main reasons is because it will not over penatrate. The round is bottle necked. It tumbles upon impact, ripping apart tissue and organs.

    The FN FiveSeven is LEGAL to own, at least for certain in California.
    CA has a handgun roster list, and the FiveSeven is listed by name on it, as well as date (meaning it's approved at least until April 2014, the date listed).
    The SS190 AP ammo IS (I repeat IS) legal to own, however, FN, by their own accord, restricts the supply.
    AP ammo has a legal definition that is NOT "will this go through XYZ" but is determined by the composition and weight of the metals in the bullet itself.

  • @Krogoth04

    Cool, those ballistic tipped civ rounds address the over penetration factor that's a negative in a self defense scenario. Aside from a 1911, I'd love to own one of these.

    Nice review. Keep in mind that "reaching out and touching someone" beyond justifiable self defense distances could land you in rather warm legal waters. If used for its 'fundamental' role, that being on the battlefield then reach on out there all you can!
    I've been tempted by this firearm, alas I just cant justify its total cost of ownership at present..Ammo prices are nothing at all to sneeze at.

    reaching out and shooting someone beyond self defense range can land you in trouble ", true but if you are out camping and you are beinfg tracked and killed "Deliverance " (i love that movie) by those types , you may want to reach out and touch em beyond legal range.
    This gun makes a great camping Gun, Light , large, smooth as heck, large capacity, light recoil. great for camping, i love mine.

    I really gotta agree with you on the 5.7 caliber round. After shooting it just a few minutes ago, i really felt the light recoil and was able to reach out and slap down plates at 50ft (i wouldn't use a pistol for anything farther than about 30ft)

  • @arbpotatoes
    @arbpotatoes 12 років тому

    this round was DESIGNED for armor penetration. it's light but very high velocity. force = mass x acceleration, or in this case deceleration. if it's going very fast and is forced to stop very quick, it'll have exert a lot of force regardless of weight. look at the difference between .22LR and .223, you can use 40gr .22 subsonics or 40gr .223 varmint loads to VASTLY different effect... i dont think anyone's ever complained about being shot by a lighter round.

    My only problem with the review is the comment about engaging targets further then you would with a 9 mm. You said you can confidently engage targets at 30 40 50 yards with the five seven. In the military we engage targets 50 meters out with a 9 mm. For those who do not know 50 yards is only 45.7 meters.

    thats because your not actually supposed to drop the slidestop to chamber the first round.
    Its sayd to be hard on the firearm after continued use. It shears the slidestop * to an extent
    Your supposed to "power stroke" the slide instead. AKA once the new mag is slapped home, grip the back of the slide and pull back a bit, causing the slidestop to disengage without any rough effect.
    Makes sense if you think of it.. i just dont know how bad it truly is to drop the slidestop.

  • @PracticalFirearms

    Its very hard to explain cause the trigger is not a DA/SA but its also no a typical DAO trigger. As you can see when the gun is rack back the triggers has a SA like trigger pull but it also has a heavy trigger. Its a good trigger for what it is but Its a very weird system.
