It might be ALMOST ridiculous making a video about this but certainly not ridiculous. I have a JDM camper van and getting in and out was an adjustment. I pretty much do what you do, sometimes adding a little bounce on the way up. I bought an out-of-state FJ. Waiting for delivery, so definitely interested in anything FJ. The looking around is a nice touch because, the reality is, it’s never going to be as smooth getting into something lifted as slipping into a sedan. Thanks 🌸
I'm disabled, and have rock sliders instead of running boards, but I don't know how I didn't already know this after driving trucks for over a decade. Thank you for making this video for those of us (me) who are a little slow to catch on lol.

I'm 6'5" 350 and our fj has the 6" lift on 35's. I just open the door and can just sit down because the seat is lower than my butt. No outside foot step on ours.
What size tires and rims are on that thing and is it stock? \\ Thats the way I do it in my suburban z71.. haha. if you want to get in quick and smooth you do the same but you don't even have to stand all the way up keep knees bent and just glide in without touching the seat.
I have 35”x12.5” tires and the rims are 16” diameter but I’m not sure about the offset on them. I used to have a friend who had one of those giant suburbans and it was a fun vehicle for drive in also. The truth is I get in and out of my FJ all sorts of different ways depending on the day and my mood(:
HAHA I am the same about getting in different ways based on mood.. I do the look around thing sometimes too lol. I guess you can tell the mood of someone in the Truck Gang by how they get in and out of their truck lol. The tires on your FJ look huge I love it! @@AndreHaroldDancs
The first thing I did to mine was take the factory running boards off. Im 6 feet tall with long legs so I just step in. The running boards will soil the back of your jeans everytime. My lifted Silverado has running/nerf bars that I custom made so I actually use them in and out.
@@stevegowan1282 I think you can go run a tire size of 285/70/17 but thats the biggest tire you can get under that stock wheel well without any modifications and it’s also pushing the width boundaries of the wheels too, But it should work.
Thanks, I bought the vehicle with the aftermarket tail already in place, and there were also DNA front LED headlights in place too, but the DNA lights didn’t last very long so I replaced them with a higher quality, archaic front headlight and they are defiantly more money but seem to be way better.
No, I don’t know about anything about the tail lights, Sorry man. But my thought is that the tail lights aren’t always on the and in Canada the daytime running light in front have to always be on so you could probably get away with something a little bit cheaper for tail lights.
The rims are 16” and the tires are 35”x12.5” you will need to lift the FJ a couple of inches and cut shorter, or replace, one body mounting bracket just behind the front Tire.
@Frank-gh9qn mine is a daily driver too, although I don’t drive very far, so the fuel mileage doesn’t make much of a difference to me. If you don’t have a large commute then it might be worth considering something bigger if you like. The vehicle can handle it.
The way you get in, is exactly the best way, and the same way i do it. Have to throw that right knee in first, under the steering wheel. Its like butter getting in and out that way.
I'm confused.. I've watched it about three dozen times.. I'm just not getting it! ..after several attempts and constant falling down trying to get in my FJ.. I'm always very apprehensive to get out of my FJ when I get to my destination.. I'm thinking of having one of those emergency inflatable slides that flops out when I open the door.
You got to open the back door to throw your jacket in the back, just so people know you’ve got suicide doors. Nah really I’ve borrowed an fj for the last 3 weeks and it’s the most annoying car I’ve had.
I will have to make a funny video on the suicide doors soon, just to put more emphasis on them. You’re right, not everything on the FJ is practical but it can be fun and entertaining.
@AndreHaroldDancs I jest! I have already adopted the " look around ". In all honesty that one tip significantly mitigates the blind spot issue. Thank you!
@dainkawarrior.1030 I actually didn’t do the work myself I bought it this way, so I’m not sure if it was re-geared or not, it seems to be fine just the way it is though. The gauge says it runs at about 2000 RPM at 105 km an hour. As far as I can tell it seems accurate. I don’t do much hardcore off-roading myself anyways, so even if I did the mods myself, I probably wouldn’t bother changing any gears.
