    Haunt should be SCARY. The "no boo" thing shouldnt exist. If you dont want yo be scared, leave before 7.

    Bring back the scary and limit the no boo’s! Also bring back the Undertaker to you entrance of the park! That made it welcoming and comical at the same time!

    I grew up going to six flags great America then spent five years with six flags San Antonio as my home park and as much as I prefer everything cedar fair to six flags I’ll say kings island could take a lot of moves from six flags for haunt. You don’t need to go rated R, but come on you gotta meet Halloween nerds in the middle and give them something considering before dark it’s basically kids/family affair especially with the candy and food offerings. Now I’ll defiantly agree and say though no matter how scary or not park always looks amazing at night during haunt and favorite time of year to be in the park hands down.

    I miss the risqué parts of haunt. The more adult friendly environment, how some of the haunts felt more directed to a mature audience. It seems too tame now.

    I personally would love it to return to the old haunt where it was more scary. Its too watered down now . Honestly its packed either way but i think more tickets and food were sold versus season pass patrons and food plan users when it was the old haunt.

    I remember going to Halloween Haunt for the first time when I was 13. It was a fun experience, but here’s the thing. I did want to be a scarer, as a guest. So, I was in my costume and mask, but we were told that I wasn’t allowed to do so, because of safety reasons. We ended up going in, anyway.
    The scenery from 11 years ago was really well done compared to what we’ve had, over the years. I stopped going to Haunt for a couple of years for some reason, but I decided in go back when I was 16. I even got myself a job at Haunt, as a scare actor around the same time. I was one of the actors in CarnEvil for two seasons. Since then, I have been experiencing the scare factor that it had, but I do agree that it dwindled down, a lot.
    I went through a lot of scare zones first, and then I decided to do the mazes. So far, I’ve done five mazes, but I might do the mazes this year I haven’t done yet like Alien Abyss and Hotel St. Michelle.
    The shows were what I enjoyed as well, but I got more into them because of a good variety that the event had, over the years. I hope that we get a better variety of sinister shows this year. Other than that, I would like to see the scare factor increasing a bit more. I don’t know about the KI Theater being used for the fall, like for a show, but I have a feeling that they might, but we’ll see when they announce the lineup tomorrow. ‘Cause having that venue unused for a sinister show is a total waste of time and space.
    Besides, the wall of monsters at the front gate prior to 2017 was iconic for the opening of the event. I wish they could bring that type of opening back, especially since the chaperone policy was enforced since last year.
    I do hope that the Tricks & Treats event improves a bit as well, I think they need to change the background music in the Snoopy area for that event as well. Don’t get me started on The Martian Hop, that song got on my nerves when I worked in the park for park services. I don’t understand why they couldn’t rely on other Halloween music for that kid-friendly area that would be ten times better than what I mentioned.

    I want haunt to be scarier but my biggest thing is a non-gore haunted house. Not everyone finds layering stuff in blood scary. Chaos was my favorite haunted house because of the science theme. I do hope the fall shows are good this year. For tricks and treats I want to see more family activities. If I want to pedal around on the little kid tractors I should be able too, even if it isn't that comfortable

    Haunt/Fear Fest was never my thing. I don’t like haunted houses so when I went back in the day I stayed out of the houses and just rode rides. But I knew there were people walking around and expected that. It’s historically been a scary Halloween event. They have family friendly stuff during the day. The necklaces are dumb as hell if you don’t want to be scared don’t go.

    Haunt has evolved from its fear fest days to haunt of more PG13 than R rating so more people can enjoy the experience and it definitely shows from the attendance inside the park. Haunt has been the most single attended event year after year and the park makes more money from this tamed version than the “scarier” version. I believe that the internet has de-sensitized kids today as they have access to a lot more information than we did as kids and adults have grown up with it also since the 2000s. There are core groups that want the jump scare everywhere and other groups that just want the gory stuff with minimal scare so the family can enjoy. The park can’t please everyone and there will always be someone losing in this scenario and those are the ones who try and bring it down and ruin it saying it sucks , not scary, no boo necklaces not allowed , adults only night out excuses. That’s why we all enjoy winterfest as people don’t complain about it and it’s an event everyone can enjoy.

    Cedar point hasn't announced anything either. I have it on good authority that pumpkin eater is moving to a new spot and will be bigger this year. I like the scare zones to be a bit less scary and save the haunted houses for the more scary stuff for people that like that. I'm not one for no boo necklaces either. But I do like the option of doing things that may not be as scary or things that are.

      @TransAmDude8806 all the b&m coasters (hypers and Gigas) are basically the same ride.
      Granted traditionally a hyper uses its height for air time and a Giga uses the terrain and transitions to exhibit its speed but it's momentum hill is higher..
      Diamondback and Orion ride very similarly despite one having a helix and the other having a turn around that is banked in the opposite direction.
      They're all non looping bunny hill coasters.

    Haunt was an never will be on the same level as half of the local haunts. Ohio and Pennsylvania are two of the top 3 states for haunts, the only one that comes close is California. Ohio is where haunted houses began! When the competition is nationally known like dent school house, blood prison, or the multiple other haunts in OH and PA that draw people for all over the country, you gotta make a decision. Is it a family event or is it a scary event. Haunt has been laughable for the last 5+ years. They can’t staff the mazes and you conga line through them. If it’s the most popular time to go to the park surely they have the funds to adequately staff the houses. They are just riding the wave of what haunt used to be and people still show up for it so why put any money into it.

    As someone with a family, I'm perfectly fine with it being less scary and more aimed to families. We don't live super close, so it's usually hard to go without bringing the kids. And even when we do, we usually want to do night rides and drinks instead of being scared by people in heavy makeup.
    I understand why people want the scare, but that's where more should go to the mazes so that those are the scary places that people can go to for that.

  • @coasterboomer1067
    @coasterboomer1067 Місяць тому +1

    I feel they should make the mazes better and keep the scare zones as is. I know people hate no boo necklaces but for years I refused to go to the park during haunt because I was terrified of getting scared, when the brought out no boo I was finally able to walk around an enjoy the atmosphere of haunt. With KI being a family park I understand why they cater more towards families, especially because families spend more than teens. Haunt has continued to get better every year after covid, and I think with the merger it’s only going to get better. Also carowinds always gets their maze announcement before us because they start haunt before we do and we’ll probably get our announcement soon.

    If ppl are so worried about being scared then Kings Island need to have separate days or weekends for family haunts & other week days or weekends for real adults that love being scared. Nothing was a bit scary last year. My family & I went together last year & after 45 minutes we were so bored we all left & their were a ("LOT") of us. Like 17 all together. Land of Illusion was much better & worth our money.

    My thoughts:
    1) Know the room. KI is a family park. The present and future of the business is families. Look at yesterday. Soak City and Planet Snoopy were packed. Everything else was empty.
    2) SF (and previously both SF/CF) are designed to push season pass over single day ticket.
    3) I think the current mix works. Mostly family friendly with a hint of scare for the for the older kids.
    4) Planet Snoopy rides aren't open because they put all the fall kids stuff in that area which is always packed.
    5) Dark rides and shows draw more in 2024 > "scary" and it's not close. They'd do better to put peanuts characters in planet Snoopy in Halloween outfits for pics than scary actors.
    6) Wanted to add in... Again... Stop with the "communication" rants... This is a great example of coming off as bitter over "no spin"... 99.9% of KI guests and potential guests could not care less about what Carrowinds or any other park announces. So no, any KI announcement is not "old news". Give me a break.
    Best time to announce Haunt activities is labor day or right after. MAYBE late this week to push 2025 pass sales.

    • @ThemeParksByDon
      @ThemeParksByDon Місяць тому +2

      If the best time to announce is Labor Day or right after, then what you're saying is all the other parks across the country are wrong and KI is the only one doing it right? Many parks begin promoting their Halloween events at the end of July.

      @@ThemeParksByDon the ones in the situation KI is in absolutely would be wrong.
      KI has no problem drawing crowds in October. It's nearly exclusively a pass holder/local park. The park is drawing tiny crowds in August and will be closed for weeks. Hyping October - with nothing going on now - pushes people who might go now to wait until October! Get them now - then use the three weeks you are closed to hype October.

      @@Heifer2997 well, you answered your own question - Universal isn't a local park. KI isn't counting on people flying in and filling up resorts.
