- Footage posted on April 8 by the Azov Battalion shows a soldier firing on a vehicle in the besieged city of Mariupol.
It was filmed near a church in the eastern part of Mariupol.
The Azov Battalion, which makes up a significant proportion of the Ukrainian military defending the area, continues to engage Russian forces in the city, located along the Sea of Azov in southern Ukraine.
The battalion was incorporated into Ukraine's National Guards to support their fight against Russia.
On April 6, after several furtive attempts to reach Mariupol, the Red Cross said that some 1,000 evacuees from Mariupol had arrived in Zaporizhzhia after first escaping to Berdyansk.

I wouldn't wonder if there would be good bunch of Russians defending the place they been living in as well, after seeing "liberation" with a lot of local Russian people losing their relatives, homes getting bombed they might not end up very impressed by how Russia is "helping" them. For those who don't know, the weapon that was fired is a RPO-A Shmel. It's a rocket assisted flamethrower, it is is desiged for anti personel. It doesn't do much against armor, only if the hatch or ports are open
And soft vehicles as the BMP.

On the other hand you make a good point, but there are also people for whom scenes like this are just mentally too difficult to handle. It may be for example because of some psychological problem, or because their family member has died in war. I think it's good that the there's a warning for them. I'd say that most people have moments when they rather would not see videos of killing and dead bodies, even it they in general want to be aware of what's happening in the ongoing war.

For those not familiar with what a BMP is, this is an amphibious tracked infantry fighting vehicle. An old one, too.

@@amazingsupergirl7125 The view outside of those isn't exactly spectacular. Being in a tank or APC-like vehicle in an urban environment is one of the worst case scenarios. Tanks and APCs are better for open environments with visibility, like big fields and dirt roads. It looked like it moved there at the beginning. Hard to tell. Probably just waiting on orders.
With turret elevation problems. Can't engage targets at height. But prob could elevate to the height of this soldiers gigantic brass balls.

@@willliamnash4855 BMP's are IFV's and thus they are fundamentally different from tanks. They are used as transports and close direct fire support for infantry including in urban environments. They are using it correctly assuming they have infantry mutually supporting it.

I doubt there's ever been a conflict, ever, where so many antitank weapons have been available to one of the beligerents. It appears that almost every Ukrainian unit is very well supplied, to say the least, and if I were a RU soldier, I would not want to be sitting inside any kind of armored vehicle.

The only way Russia currently has a chance in these dense cities/MOUT without AIR superiority is to push dismounted with Arty/mortars, drones, and possibly LAV's. Pushing in Tanks, and APVs is not smart.

In strategic terms, this invasion is a colossal military and political blunders as NATO is stronger today, and Russia failed to removed the Zelensky government. At this point Russia goals aren't achievable unless they conquer the whole country and that isn't likely as the West is preparing to overload the Ukrainian front to be a proxy protracted conflict.

This is true, many, if not most, of the Russian soldiers do not want to be there but ADOLF Putin cares nothing for the lives of anyone....including his own soldiers. It's not really Russia's incompetence to blame. If Ukraine haven't received all this anti-tank weaponry from many other countries it would be an entirely different story. Years before it was pretty much a stalemate between Ukrainian forces and Russian-backed separatists. You can see this in one documentary about the 93rd Brigade here on youtube.

@@Paralyzer There's a large number of Reserves and Regional / National Guard, who have joined up with the Ukrainian Army / National Guard / Regional Forces. Would not be surprised if they number over 400,000 now. Nearly every able bodied many is being conscripted to fight...although most are volunteering first.
Russia has more tanks an equipment...but that's changing as Ukrainians capture more and more Tanks and Equipment from the Russians.
The cities in the South are getting hammered...but the Ukrainians are going to be able to shift some forces that direction too as the Russians pull out from Kyiv.
