ah yes, the good old in an hour delivery anywhere. if we ignore the entire we need a rocket part, so it is several hours of preparation, dozens of kilometers from anything, and the landing site is similarly out of nowhere for the same reason (rockets blow up and noisy.) just as it was stupid in almost every case for starship, it will be for them too. you need something that is light, needs to be at the target in less than a day, able to survive a launch and landing, and worth lot. to the point that maybe a few medical stuff is the only thing that left on the table.
very hard to beat the airplane delivery time, will cost way more and adds massive risk.

You know, using ai to steer as an on board agent as well as multiple other agents in charge of but sharing with the whole ship. Like steering and stuff related would connected and controlled together and not directly by any one but in case of emergency or failures the system can troubleshoot and still operate. Multi agents connected and sharing and maybe sharing enough to be an agi ship variant. The system would be connected to air and compression chambers and such so the humans inside would just need to talk to the ai and it would talk to the differences in the ship or of itself but calling on the differences when needed and not always fully engaged or if so it doesnt need the agi but can act independently like the human body.

    • @undertow2142

Hmm... I'm a bit concerned about the impact of frequent sub-orbital freight deliveries. The bulk of the ozone layer extends from roughly 9 to 35 km, which seems likely to be crossed by most of the proposed flights. The Shuttle punched holes in the ozone layer at each launch but even SpaceX's current launch cadence allows time for the holes to close. The higher launch rate for retail delivery services will require careful examination and possible mitigation before it should be allowed.
