The Zulus must have got those rifles from the Battle of Isandlwana, - but they never knew how to use them properly, surely they didn't think those cattle skin shields were going to give them any protection!
pretty much what the battle of Ulundi was? they had brought along gatling guns, formed square and when the Zulus were in retreat sent out the lancers. this is pretty much what happened. the end of a dynasty of an amazing African tribe of brave warriors. they had also entrenched the position so if the Zulus got close would have to climb a wall before receiving more fire.
Not a single Zulu Warrior got within 30 yards of the British Lines - the later charge by the Lancers accounted for many hundreds of Zulus - the British Army certainly got its revenge for the bloodshed at Isandlwana that day, as well as breaking the power of Zulus as a military power in the Region.
Is there any way the Zulu could have won this battle ? Did they sit back and let the British form the box and protective trenches? Could they have caught the British earlier and unprepared? Or were the 24 cannon gatling guns just over whelming fire power?
Honestly no. The british army consisted of up to 5 thousand compared to the 1 and a half at isandlwana. That's forgetting about the extra fire power. The ammunition was giving out alot easier resulting in the army having plenty of bullets to keep firing at a quick rate. The square also made it impossible for any army to get near without an even fire power back. The British only needed to kill 1 in 5 zulu to wipe them out compared to the 1 in over 20 at isandlwana. The use of 3 lines compared go 2 also resulted in this outcome massively. That's war I guess
Nobody want a fair fight dumbass, look at isandlwana, rorkes drift, Zulus literally outnumbered them, Isandlwana theey lost because of how dumb the commander to split his force to far, Rorkes Drift was different, they hold the place
No they were properly encamped each company knew where their ammunition wagon was and most ammo crates were unscrewed ready to hand out ammunition quickly but probably the biggest difference is the ammo runners only had a couple of hundred yards to run instead of the kilometre they had to cover to supply ammo at Isandalwana.
Unfortunately I am not able to put links with this youtube account. This is where I could get the units of the second invasion, which are the units used in this video, in addition to the original ones that the mod has: Total War Center > Forum > Napoleon: Total War > Napoleon: Total War > Napoleon: Total War Hosted Modifications > The Khartum and Zulu Mod > Sticky: SUBMOD: units add-on download! Units of the second invasion.
I noticed that when I've played this mod, I've never seen these units, texture wise. did you modify these soldier to look like the proper regiments? If so, bravo and also teach me cause I'm trying to make a boer war mod for shogun 2
I doubt it. The defeat at Isandlwana against fearful odds was one thing, and the defence of Rorkes Drift another, but to return later that same year with cannister shot and Gattling guns against spears isnt how they'd like you to remember it, because as this production shows, it was indeed a massacre.
I dont remember if I used mod manager or the game script but I am almost sure mod manager. There you can edit in one of the tables the unit size of each unit by modifying the number of soldiers, but also cannons and horses accordingly.
I don't think so, contrary to what happened in my video of Khambula I disabled the fire from british cavalry. At the time I recorded Khambula I was not aware about the friendly fire. Casualties in this video are closer to the historical ones.
Pretty much the same happened in the US at a smaller scale. Even a slight edge in technology is overwhelming in a protected environment.
"Alright then"
"Nobody told ya to stop working"
is that what he is saying @ 2:05 & 2:09 ?
@@joshuatrotter25 yeah it's a quote from the film zulu. One of the all time great films. U should watch it

They also traded with nearby settlers but most were older muskets and rifles but even then the zulu were poorly trained in using them efficiently.
In reality none of Zulus use the muskets in Battle of Ulundi for some reason.
they were effective with those rifles to some degree at the battle of rorke's drift.
A general did not want another general to steal his thunderbolts and tried to restore his prestige...
When you hear "Alright then" from hundreds of meters away, then you should just surrender.
My guy Colour Sergeant Vaughan is everywhere 😎 there was no escape for the Zulus
This is not a battle, Its a massacre!

@Justin EdwardsI think he means don't bring knife to a gattling gun fight.
Which is why I live these vids
Unfortunately this is what happened historically, the end of the Zulu empire and the victory of British empire in the Anglo-Zulu war.

Sarge, are we gonna die?
Huge gaps in that square. In reality the square was closed and the Zulus never got anywhere near it.
No ammo shortages or overheating guns and messed up cartridges this time. What changed?
They were prepared instead of being caught by surprise.
Glorious.
Not enough zulu
The crazy thing is that this is very accurate to how it was 😐😐
No it isn't!
I would have thought that they would have used regimental colours, rather than a union flag.
British, Americans and the Australians, three nations against 1 nation Zulu nation just imagine.
One third of the video wasted on a troop review.
How i can more Soldiers taken (only 1500), here are 5000 ?

So Woolsely could reinforce Chelmsworth if he got into trouble? I though maybe the Zulu could just surround them and starve them out.
The zulu did surround them
Chelmsford, not Chelmsworth.
nice try zulus
Why some British soil diet wore black uniform instead of red?
Elite light infantry rifle units wore very dark green.
Natal Native Contingent troops.
Who won?
GulfHunter The British of course
It was a decisive British victory
