- After the disastrous first invasion of Zululand, Chelmsford set about reorganising the army for a second Invasion before his replacement - Garnet Wolseley - could arrive. This second invasion was more heavily reinforced and consisted of 25,000 men - 16,000 Britons, 7,000 Africans and 2,000 Boers. Chelmsford's column arrived near Ulundi and on July 3rd held a cavalry skirmish with a few thousand Zulu warriors. The next day, 4th July 1879, his column formed into a square of 5200 men and horse. Around 10,000 Zulus charged at the square in a Horseshoe formation but stood little chance against four ranks of line infantry, 12 cannons and 2 Gatling guns. The 17th lancers and other mounted units pursued the fleeing Zulus once they had broken. The battle marked the destruction of Cetshwayo's army, which had already suffered crushing defeats in earlier battles. The Zulus lost 1,000 warriors on that day and at the cost of only 14 British and South African soldiers. After the battle, Chelmsford's army depredated then burnt the Zulu capital of Ulundi then ended the war between the Kingdom.

Great video. Nice to see Zulu war material which doesn't just cover Rorkes drift or Isandhlwana
Also, great to see somebody spell it 'Isandhlwana'. Don't see that 'alternate' spelling very often.
Splendid firework display
You should do like a 15-30,000 zulu vs 2,000 british to see what the results would be 😂😂😂
It would have to be 15000, because otherwise the mod becomes too laggy. For a similar result for what we'd get, see Isandlwana.
@@oliverjonesmilitaryhistory well maybe we should do 5,000 Zulus vs 250 british
@@spamdendunce1587 Sounds alright.
sad i wanted zulu to win
Well, at this one they didn't. Take a gander at my video on isandlwana for a Zulu victory.
