Just a reminder that I'm not trying to win these battles, but rather make an interesting video. Comments about "how bad I am at the game" are becoming tedious at this point.
Square formation against infantry.... brave.
+Charles Purssey Battle of Ulundi, The British beat the Zulu's by forming a large hollow square against infantry.
Line is too long - use 3 sides square with cliff to your back - have cavalry free range and get behind Zulus and catch them in a cross-fire - drive flanking Zulus off the cliff - This 'might' work better....
Man, that would be scary as hell in real life. Those Zulus DO NOT ROUT.

I would have had howitzers behind the lines not cannons... id be worried of the cannon firing arc being too low at close range...

Have you got something against the British or do you just like the huge battles where the British are outnumbered 6 to 1? Because I like battle where one side is ournumbered
+Ethan Dodd Well it's kind of the charming thing about the Zulu Wars. The British were HUGELY outnumbered and that's what made it, and the movies good so I made my video like that too :)

This mod doesn't seem to model the firepower the British had back then. In most battles during the Anglo-Zulu War, the Zulus couldn't even reach the British lines before they were shot to pieces.
It's because in Total War there is no suppression mechanic. Realistically the whole Zulu unit would hit the deck the moment volleys started coming their way.

Are the Ballistics for the Martini Henry rifle correct? Or did the developer just stick with musket dynamics because they equate Musket=Rifle?

If by ballistics you mean the stats of the units being realistic compared to a unit of the time? Not really, they're just skins. The range is still about 75 Yards :/
Thought so, the Martini Henry can hit a melon sized target at 100 yards! If the ballistic properties of the rifle had been accurate most of the Impi would not have gotten to the barricade.

Aye, it's a shame. This was a very early mod that was never updated. I hope someone may pick it up and implement more realistic range and accuracy. The fire rate is quite good though, in terms of an entire formation at least.
What happened to the Cav? Those guys should have been way our front harassing and slowing pulling back. They had a ton of ground they could have traded while bleeding the Zulus a bit. But just my thought. Great battle.

What kind of shells were those cannons firing? It looks to me like itty bitty white phosphorus.
GenericFakeName Good spot, phosphorus (primitive phosphorus as its pre WW1) howitzer shells. Mixed with plenty of shrapnel ;)

Well it's tame compared to what you'd see today. It would work more like Tar gas - but searing the skin at the same time.
It was the prelude to the gas attacks we see in WW1. However as you can imagine it, producing it, storing it, transporting it & using it, wasn't easy with the 19th Century technology and therefore cases of use were limited.
It's in this mod just to be cool, I thought I would use it since it had a better cinematic explosion xD

I do wonder why you keep forming square randomly in your zulu vids, you're losing 3/4 of your fire power and as once face gets hacked to bits the moral for that unit goes down massively. Move your skirmishers out further and pull them back as needed, and save a couple of barrels of cannister shot for the las second before the zulu hit home ;)

+Hauptman Walder It's all for cinematic effect, lad. Winning is easy, but making something exciting is the name of the game - to capture the spirit of the old movies was my goal, with the weapons available I could crush the Zulus a thousand times over but that would be very boring wouldn't it?

I'm just surprised that you honestly kept your skirms in such a terrible formation. They should be more spread out across the whole line, not bunched up in clumps.
