    New York facial cosmetic surgeon Amiya Prasad, M.D. talks about how facial aging goes deeper than the skin; how fillers can improve the appearance of sagging skin; and how the results of filler placement are highly dependent on technique:

    Hi Dr. Prasad, what are your thoughts on microneedling and Sculptra for collagen stimulation?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Рік тому +1

      Hi @nek7705.
      Collagen stimulation is for skin quality improvement, which is different from volume enhancement. While I have performed microneedling in the past, I do perform it less are there are more predictable, and controllable ways to stimulate collagen, such as lasers, radiofrequency, and PRP/PRF.
      Sculptra is for volume enhancement, but since it relies on a biological reaction for the body to create its own volume, results are not as predictable, or precise as hyaluronic acid fillers that can be sculpted for exacting results as shown in the video. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Hi @rohanbhandari2645,
      It is possible to reduce prominent zygomas, although it's not a procedure I regularly perform. I don't recommend facial cosmetic surgery to young people whose faces are still growing, but you can consult a doctor who specializes in this procedure when your face has stopped growing in your early 20s. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Is sculptra any good for volume loss in some cases?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  11 місяців тому

      Hi @annaframeworktwo1288,
      Since Sculptra or poly-L-lactic acid relies on a biological reaction to create volume, results can be unpredictable. I do prefer hyaluronic acid fillers as results are predictable, and accurately customizable. I hope this clarifies things for you.

      Note: I don't want to use FILLERS

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Рік тому

      Hi @Discoverajijic,
      I hope you understand that I would have to physically examine your face before making and specific treatment recommendations for you. If you are already ruling out filler as a treatment, then you have less options, and results may not be optimal. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Thank you for the video.
    Is the filler you are using at the bone level called Sub-Q?
    And another question: Can wrinkles under the eyes be reliably treated with PRP/PRF?
    Thank you.

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Рік тому

      Hi @Anne....,
      Sub Q is a similar filler to what I use, which is Juvederm Voluma, as both are the thickest hyaluronic acid fillers meant for the cheeks, jawline, and chin.
      PRP or PRF are effective at treat under eye wrinkles, but other treatments may be needed as well such as lasers or radiofrequency to tighten the skin. You can refer to this video about how I treat under eye wrinkles - ua-cam.com/video/PXMhY90TReM/v-deo.html

      Hi @HopeHope-ne3qv,
      No, it's not necessary. Your transplant surgeon will let you know about aftercare during your consultation. I hope this clarifies things for you.

    Hi Dr., I had two wisdom teeth removed a few years ago and started experiencing very severe facial slimming not long after. My cheeks started to sink in and my skin started to sag as a result. The experts in the orthodontic field seem to be a little divided on the issue; some say this can't be a result of the wisdom teeth extraction, others say it's definitely possible. I am now struggling to get a semblance of my old face back but recreating bone is very tricky, as most procedures focus more on fat and collagen and injectors in my country rarely inject on the bone level. Do you have any experience with this issue? Have you had patients who experienced facial slimming/sagging after tooth extraction and did you treat that with hyaluronic acid filler at a deeper level?

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Рік тому

      Hi @santanacaipirinha9536,
      It's not quite clear if your condition is due to your teeth removal, or from volumetric loss at the lower jaw. We can address bone volume loss at the lower jaw, but you can also see your dentist/orthodontist/oral surgeon for an examination for bone loss. I hope this helps you.

    • @santanacaipirinha9536
      @santanacaipirinha9536 Рік тому

      @@AmiyaPrasadMD Thank you. The dentist and orthodontist have been very dismissive and you won't get them to check for bone loss unless you have a severe medical condition. I guess I will just have to accept I will never know for sure.

      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Рік тому

      Hi@@santanacaipirinha9536,
      Sorry to hear that. You can still get another medical opinion, but that does require a physical examination by a different doctor. I hope this helps you.

    Doctor i have a doubt regarding finasterude

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Рік тому

      Hi @Rohit-rx5rz,
      Finasteride is a prescription medication, so you can discuss your concerns with your prescribing doctor before you are issued your prescription. You can refer to these videos about the importance of finasteride in treating male pattern hair loss, and how we can go beyond finasteride alone in increasing hair thickness, and scalp coverage:

    Sir what to do if a person feels the symptoms of fever before hair transplant surgery will it affect the procedure

    • @AmiyaPrasadMD
      @AmiyaPrasadMD  Рік тому

      Hi @user-tf1pt3us5d,
      You should be healthy when having hair transplant surgery as issues like elevated blood pressure can push out hair grafts during surgery, known as "popping". Also, you need to be healthy for optimized recovery after a hair transplant so the grafts heal with blood supply to deliver nutrients an essential part of hair graft healing and survival. I hope this clarifies things for you.
