Good job with the repairs! After seeing the condition of the case, if it was my laptop, I'd have just gutted it for all of the working parts, and scrapped the case. So glad to see it live again! Also, good work with finding an 80-90% battery; most used batteries are in much worse condition than this and seeing anything above 70% for me is a good sign! Only thing I'd have done was changed the SSD for a bigger one, as 240GB isn't much.
Hey Andrew just a small recomendation, you can use a soldering iron to get the bolts into the platics easily and also the bolts dont need much glue since the plastic molds around the bolts just make sure not to keep the heat for long since plastic could get inside the bolt
Hi Andrew.. Can you please tell me what are the best glues available which can be used in India for Refabrication..? Also share the name of the glues you used...
Thanks. Greetings from Indonesia. Your channel is one of my inspiration to make a non-functional laptop to be repair and back to it's function again... Like one of mya client laptop and mine too. So thank you, you deserve subscribe

Whoa, just yesterday I cleaned up my old laptop, this same exact model and specs from 2016, exactly followed all your steps, thank you for inspiration. repaired hinges, given a good clean and replaced thermal paste solution, now it is working fine and tempratures are in control, love it! (GTA 5 Works just ok enough) just because of the broken hinges screws my laptop's bottom side is not sitting properly(My bad)
Cat and Andrew you know your video inspire me to do my own repair business with compiuter PC to do mods and repair so thank you and greetings from poland 😀😁🤙👍
Hi Andrew. Good job on the restoration. However, I would point out that I would not attempt to repair such badly damaged plastics. I would have opted to find a dead parts laptop to get the plastics on a budget before resorting to repair. But I’m glad that you did the repair as it shows people that it’s possible with patience, effort and time. I’m a fellow technician and refurbisher like you. Even after 25 years of experience, I still see myself learning more tricks.
In the case of fixing the missing bolts, I always use the tip of my soldering iron and melt them back into the bolts housing. Instant replacement and no waiting for glue to dry. 😁
hello brother, I want to start in the world of repairing computers, and your videos inspire me a lot, I love your delicacy and your passion for what you do, thanks
If you don't have epoxy glue you can enforce the case with regular super glue and paper. You put some glue on the area where you need repair and on top of the still wet glue you add regular paper piece. After that you soak the paper with more glue until is saturated. After it dries is super strong, did it to my laptop.
you have great hands for this work man! im not as good as i was but i still work on laptops. i have an hp 8760 elite workstation and it needed thermal paste replaced...i was not wanting to take this thing apart due to the sheer screws i had to take out so i let it sit for 6 months. after watching you and a few others do this work i went back and dove into it! it is working great with some artic mx5 under the hood 16gb ram and a 1gb radeon removable gpu.....and is very quiet now!
Woah this is cool to see! I had an older version of this laptop for years but I updated the ram to the max supported and put in a ssd and gave it to my sister
Absolutely fabulous work! Your artistic quality far exceeds just repairing laptops. I can tell you're a perfectionist, it shines through in your work. Great job! Loved watching you adapt to repairs with missing parts. You're a master!
A while ago i restored a dell latitude E6400 And i am using it right now! I know its old but it runs every thing really well with an ssd 6GB ram New thermal pate its 1.5 sec faster than light to be honest.....
I also repair in the same way but to give you more info, those bolts with Pattex instant glue doesn't last long. They break super fast again. especially at the hinges as the pressure is way too much. Epoxy for them would be way stronger than anticipated.
Nice restoration video and to reduce e-waste. I can't imagine the amount of abuse the previous owner(s) put this laptop through. The laptop certainly deserves better life and it found you! Just a question, how do you learn to tear every different laptop down apart? I know how to build my own desktop PCs, but dismantling a laptop is another level for me.
Hi bro, I have worked in repair shop for a pretty long time, but isn't that hard to learn this, most of the laptops are very similar to disassemble, repair or upgrade
love your work can't stop watching is really great and helps you learn new ideas how to handle problems I love it that you use J B plastic bonder to fix the sides i did the same on MSI had 3 damage sides want to fix it so I mix up J B wait for it gets a bit gummy to make the side walls then let dry up later sandpaper it to match then later i spray paint it red
Thank you for putting all of your effort into reshaping the laptop and your hard work paid off but it's a little bit ashamed that you didn't upgrade the laptop but I'm fine without upgrades, keep it up

The other day, I was blessed to save a Dell Inspiron 15 3552 from 2017, from being recycled. It was intact, and in perfect working condition. All I had to do was to buy a charger (OEM Dell 130w Charger), a license for Windows 10 Pro (Since it came with Windows 10 Home), and a bag to carry it. With that little investment, I got a very solid and reliable laptop (The Specs aren't too Bad: Intel Pentium N3710 X4 -Quad-Core- 1.6Ghz - 2.56Ghz, 8gb of Ram, and 1TB of Hard Drive). After a Clean Installation Of Windows 10 Pro, it runs like a champ with a very solid battery (I'm very happy with it 😃).
Hello i've try 3,4 times to repair some laptop with glue on the fixations for the screen, and all the time when you open the computer the fixations broke. So the best solution for me is to replace the all plastics parts, no to glue them and believe it's not going to broke. Good vidéos keep going
Well, I've done a lot of repairs on notebook housings, and I've never had good results using super glue. Super glue doesn't work well on objects where we need to move, it doesn't accept well the "traction", the effort of holding a piece that is being "pulled" and "pushed". I really liked the idea of redoing parts of the broken carcass with epoxy glue, I'm going to take advantage of this tip.
I share my many years of experience - the capsules that you poured into the matrix cover and the pallet will hold on tighter if glued the other way around. i.e. large diameter down)
I once found this one on mint condition in the garbage, but end up breaking it while trying to fix it. These one's have a major desing flaw that breaks the screw holes that hold the hinges if you don't secure them properly
*Pro tip* : 9:43 warm the metallic bolts with a lighter, they'll go right inside their plastic place without any efforts =) You won't even have to use the glue ^^
I literally bought myself the same laptop used for a few months this past summer with a negotiated price from 101.25 to 81.00 dolars in perfect condition from a family who's kid bent the pins that the laptop uses to know how many watts the charger has and it wasn't able to charge the battery and they thought it was dead, surprise surprise when I fixed it and it even has enough life in it for 1h and 20m of work related stuff, in games about 45 min tops, with decent specs of a 5gen i3 and a 2gb geforge 920m GPU ain't to shabby.

nice repair, Try to get some Qbond works way quicker than epoxy and stronger you can use it to rebuild the plastic. When using superglue try to rough up the plastic it gives it more surface area for the glue to hold
Amazing work!!! Never would have thought of molding JB weld to repair corners or anything like this really. I have so many questions. I guess the most important would be do you have a room full of spare parts? You always seem to have something from another broken computer/gaming console to complete the repair. I asked myself how many times that came in handy on computer repair then I said oh thats the hammer that was used on this computer. GREAT WORK!!

I’m very impressed by time and effort you put into this repair, but - this may be unpopular opinion - I’m not a huge fan of this particular method. I’m talking about glue usage. While it is indeed a cheap and affordable way, in my experience, it’s a short run. Plastics on these cheap laptops (especially near hinges) are quite britle out of factory, and they snap easily. Re-glueing them, while cost-effective is not a long term solution, they may break even easier than before. In such situations I tend to just replace case pieces, often with used, taken from non-working machines, to make it somewhat cheaper, yet still „as good as new”, if you can call it that way. So, in conclusion - great vid, huge respect for creativity, but in terms of longevity - not so much. Anyhow, I like all your vids, they’re relaxing as such, so still it was fun to watch ;)
