First I like to say thank you very much for making these videos. I absolutely depend on them to keep my three old 20 something old cars going. Second, this is not any easy repair. One has to be a little crazy to pursue this do it yourself repair. The main difficulty is that hard to see and remove "Omega" clip, called such due to its resemblance to the Greek letter Omega. What finally helped me was the encouragement given from these videos and viewer comments. Close the driver door and view the clip from outside the car, hunched over the wide open or missing window. Also study the replacement handle and installed shiny new Omega clip. From outside the closed door with ample illumination the offending clip is much easier to remove. I also used a small pair Irwin Vice Grip channelocks to gently squeeze the old lock cylinder into the replacement handle assy. At first I thought they send a defective part. In summary, hang in there stick with it, take a few breaks to cool off and watch 3 or 4 you tube repair videos with comments in order to convince yourself the Omega clip will eventually come out! Worked for me.
Hi! I just completed this very repair on a 2001 Civic 4-door, and the driver door is slightly different from that depicted. The access hole for the leftmost bracket nut is blocked by a plastic bracket that I believe connects the lock solenoid mechanism in the base of the door. Releasing the clip that frees the lock tumbler is also a bit more difficult in that configuration. You need plenty of light to see what you're doing, too! Thanks for the video.

I watched this whole video and I don't have, nor do I plan to have a Civic. But thank you. I like how you pretend the battery was disconnected, but you did a function test on the window during re-assembly ;)

Thank you!!! Mine was a different year so a little different layout but this made it all workout. I had to have the window rolled down in the exact perfect spot to remove it so I had to reconnect and and unconnect the power to adjust it but eventually got there.
Do I need to take the window out to complete the job cuz I'm having trouble locating and removing the nut? since its not in place at the hole I believe
At 4:15 of the video, you are undoing the clip on the "latch rod". You eventually pop it out with a screwdriver somewhat effortlessly. I am trying to remove the same clip on a 2005 Acura EL, which should be the same thing. My latch rod will not pop out. I can see the other side (not shown in your video) and the plastic clip has four fingers that appear to lock on to the head of the rod. He harder I pry, the more the fingers clap down on the head. Any ideas? Anyone?
Hi! Great video - have one question. It looks like there is room to work on the handle without removing the glass *if* the window is completely closed (full up position). Is that correct? That is, must the window be removed?

Actually I undertook this repair on a friend's car (4- door version) about a month ago and your are right - I didn't have to remove the window, but I ended up removing it due to the very issue you mention - getting to the latch. It *could* have been done, but it would have been decidedly trickier!! I suspect the four-door configuration makes it just subtly different enough to make it a bit more difficult.

You missed a step. After 4:35 there's another rod (connected to the lock?) similar to the one you just removed which is somewhat smaller and positioned on the left side of the handle. In this video you never remove it.

Window does NOT need to be removed. However, you have to be a little more creative in getting to the latch.

I have my rear driver side outer door handle that fell off through the outside when I pulled on it, can't I just drop the new one through the outside?
