I read that as just survival tips (I read your comment before watching the video) and thought this UA-camr was like an army officer showing us how to fight and how to cook at the same time
I love everything about this. I normally have ramen with veggies and chicken on Sunday nights, but this Sunday, it's all about Budae Jjigae. Thanks you two!
I used to be at alot of military events as a child and then got a military contract when I was 16. We would have Army Stew on certain occasions (I assume anniversary of end of Korean War). Like you mentioned it was meant to be made from whatever they found on US bases so the one I had was a bit diff but always was Spam, Cabbage, Onion, Sausage And Baked Beans. I would often not eat at home cause the food in the mess hall on base was soo good and also free!
I am renting a appartment from a welshman on aruba and he is marryed to a colombian women and the funny thing is her accent in English is welsh . You could say he's an exile too 😂😂😂
It's simple or it's complex it's up to you kind of like Mac and cheese Or Mac and cheese with lobster and bacon and scallops whatever you want and it's pretty hard to screw up dude
You really understand your target audience. Best cooking channel for an inexperienced person who cooks for themselves but wants to enjoy great dishes and flavors. I’m subscribed.
Can't wait to try this! I've wanted to make Budae Jjigae for a long time, but I only cook for myself, so it didn't seem worth making a big pot just for one person. Also some of the ingredients of the authentic recipe are a bit difficult to source in the NW of the UK. This 7-minute version is the answer to a prayer! =)
i made this for my girlfriend, my mother and my english grandmother and they absolutely loved it. I showed them your channel and all of them subscribed to you now. My grandmother loves claire
This is actually my favorite Korean dish and the first time I wen to Korea and ate it, it blew my mind how much better it tasted in Korea. After watching this video I am craving budae jigae and will be making this tonight. Thanks Aaron and Claire, I watched this like 5 times and just craved it even more!
Thanks for another easy to accomplish recipe. I’ve been cooking a number of your recipes for my wife for the last couple of months (almost every Saturday and sometimes during the week when my schedule permits) and I haven’t had a dud yet. I look forward to making this one this upcoming weekend, maybe sooner!!!
Love Claire's sweater! When I was on a long deployment, I used to look up at the sky for my favorite constellation. I could see Orion from the backyard when I was home. Deployed, I could see Orion around the world. It was like having a friend or constant, no matter where I was. Can't wait to make some Budae Jjigae. Looks delicious!
I know I'm still in 8th grade but once my best friend whos from Korea comes over I'm gonna make him the 7 minute Budae Jigae because it is his favorite food.
Budae Jjigae, my favorite comfort food!. I've been actually doing this for sometime, been cutting my full batch recipe in half for 1 person Budae Jjigae. I make 5 cups (US) of broth for my full batch. Happy New Year's.
Nice to see another version of your Budae Jjigae ! This is one of the first recipe I tried from your channel, and, one year after, I think it's still my favorite. Thank you for sharing this with us !
I went to my local Asian market and found it has a Ramen for this. You just have to add the vegetables and protein. I was so excited that I bought the 5-pack.
I made the authentic version of Korean army stew. It was very delicious. I have also bought your book and have learned so much. Thank you Aaron and Claire.
My daughter and I watched your ramen videos and she loved that little gold pot.... Guess who went to Amazon and got a 2 for $20 deal? (You guys like to fill those things to the brim don't you? )
I just made the 7 minute version of this stew and the broth was beyond delicious! I love it such a good dish for cold days or just in need of comfort food!
I'm loving this express versions. The very 1st video of yours I ever watched and made was your original Korean Army stew video. It was so good! I love Spam so I knew it was gonna be amazing. It's the best on a cold night.😋
My daughter has asked me to make this for her for months so I surprised her for her birthday. It was SO yummy! Everyone in the house loves it and I'm making it again tomorrow. Thank you for sharing yet another wonderful recipe!
The quick ramyun version of this has become a daily staple for me since I first saw it in the last ramyun video. Extra porkchop? Toss it in. Leftover turkey? Toss it in. It's so quick and easy and flexible. I can't go back to regular ramyun anymore.
I agree, I think we all sort out our own version, to suit our Taste. That’s the beauty of the noodles. I just call it my Korean noodle soup, or sometimes I end up adding so many things it resembles a stew, much like the one in the video. Not a great lover of spam, the bacon and the meatballs has me salivating though.
Aaron, hi hope all is well. I tried the pork belly stir fry (samyapsal?). My husband really enjoyed it. I usually cook Vietnamese, Japanese, Pacific Rim and Thai cuisine. My Husband loved the flavors of Korean gojujang and Korean red chili flakes! Don't tell Claire, but I made budajige(sp) with kimchee, it was delicious! Cheers!
just tried it now, the cheap easy version. Never had this dish before. It's delicious. Certainly elevates the ramen. I used super cheap 20 cents ramen first just in case and only half the seasoning packet. usually that ramen is sooo terrible. Made the ramen taste delicious! Can't believe it. if I use better ingredients, wow it will be great.
I spent a few weeks working in SK a while back. Some of us at work get together to make this for lunch, each bringing an assigned ingredient then we cook in electric skillet in a conference room. Yummy, fun, and reminds us of our times in Korea.
I always put vegetables and diced chicken or ham in my ramen but I must say adding the cheese really brought it up a notch. Now I will have to try your version. I am not a student but sometimes I eat like one. 😂
I learned to put processed American cheese in ramen from Aaron and I never looked back. It's so good and it does take the ramen to the next level. Especially spicy ramen. If it's too spicy, the cheese calms things down a bit and makes it taste amazing. Try it, you'll like it. 😊
I really enjoy watching Claire and her reactions. She is so perfect for you Aaron. Thank you for sharing your dishes from Korea and making it fun and funny 😄 God bless
Do you know what I love about you and your wife? You don't hesitate to show the products you use in Korea. So when I got here for my small time in Korea I can buy local products and know what I'm getting until I can fully understand the language. Thank you so much! It helped eased and eases my anxiety. 💜💜
The first thing I tried from Aaron and Claire's channel was the Budae Jjigae from the Korean ramyun video. When he says use what you got, it really does turn out great! I usually make it with spam, ketchup, and cheese, sometimes canned beans if I have them on hand.
Thank you so much for this recipe! I made it today with what I had on hand. My husband and I loved it! The perfect stew for a cold rainy December day. Many thanks!
Aaron: Whispers "This is how I survive." My dad has a saying: Happy wife, happy life. You guys are so cute I love the interaction between you too. Having a partner like that is my life goal!
American bbq would go great with this! You'll only have to drop in the leftovers once being served just to warm up. If there is smoky flavor of hickory then it will mix well with the stew.
I recently Subscribed, and I gotta say. Aaron does a great job. I would use ham over Spam, because it's less salty and then you could season the Meatballs, but it still looks amazing.
always wanted to try making this coz eating them at restaurants seem expensive for the ingredients LOL. now I have something to refer to. Really love this channel too, one of those that you smile while watching it. Cute reactions from Claire!

I love that Claire says “Don’t worry about it!” just like Aaron.
Haha pretty soon, she might come out with his other catch-phrase, "I'm not responsible" 😂
I am renting a appartment from a welshman on aruba and he is marryed to a colombian women and the funny thing is her accent in English is welsh . You could say he's an exile too 😂😂😂
As a college student, I'm intrigued 👀
I KNEW IT!😎
You wont know until you taste it
It's great i make it in winter with mushrooms and kimchi and fresh ramen.
you smell of tumbler
It's simple or it's complex it's up to you kind of like Mac and cheese Or Mac and cheese with lobster and bacon and scallops whatever you want and it's pretty hard to screw up dude
I am now a Korean Master Chef, even though i'm American. Thanks Aaron and Claire!
Yes, you are!😎👍
Watching Aaron's YT tutorial is great but Claire's tastings are what makes these unique. I'm new to Korean foods and I love what you publish.

Leftover brisket or burnt ends with the baked beans 😩
That's a great idea! We even have leftover hamburger patties with cheese on them sometimes; they would be a great topping all chopped up!
Great thing about Korean Army stew, you can do anything to it! I’m always switching it up! Need to try the beans next time!
Looks absolutely yummy !! 👍🏼
Perfect season for this! I love you guys so much! 💝🙏💝 well wishes and best wishes for the holiday season! 💝
