- Polychaining two Behringer DeepMinds, a quick look at how it's done and how they sound.
Here I'm using the DeepMind 6 keyboard to control the 12D version remotely via Midi and listening to the combined 18 voices, but with more DeepMinds the number of voices could be infinite... If only our budgets were...!

Oh wow, you're gonna love it!
If ya think about it, you now have 2 more voices of polyphony than any other analog polyphonic synth out there, which usually max out at 16. Very, very cool.
And that's what I wanted to hear... it was an expensive experience but worth it! I can see another 12D being on the horizon at some point, I just need to clear desk space... but they sound bloody immense together!!

They're pretty solid synths....! Love mine, always amazed by the quality of sound!
cool stuff . nice how it mirrors the parameter settings also, but can you turn that feature off?
I believe so, I think that's what "Program" on/off enables in the Poly Edit menu, just below the "Polychain" on/off option... Im guessing here though and haven't checked, that was just my assumption lol
Do the patch banks have to be identical on both, or does the master place the chosen master patch in a buffer on the slave?
You can set the slaved DM to an independent patch if you prefer, but changing the master DM will change the slave patch... I think you can turn this off with the "program" option in the poly edit menu though..?

If the arp is playing in poly mode with a longer release time, will it borrow voices fron the module then?
And is saving patches on the DM6 mirrored in the module as well?
It will work its way through all available voices yes! And nope... lol
At least I don't recall them doing so? Whilst you can control the other one from the first, you can still change the patch on the second independently, so you'd need to save on both machines independently I think?
@@krsTBedfordStudios Unless there is some kind of sys-ex magic going on. I don't know. I'd think there would be the chance of accidentally overwriting presets in the desktop. But then again...it would be great too.
I think that when I get my 12, I'll dump all my presets from the 6 into it right away. I'm interested in a 18 voice poly...not two separate synths.

Having and issue with getting both of my DM12 to talk to each other (I have the keyboard versions) what are your exact midi settings
Hey there, I can't remember off hand, but obviously the same channel... I think this video has instructions on how to get to the polychain menu..? Did you set that up from there for yours??
@@krsTBedfordStudios again thank you for the speedy reply. I followed your example from the video but I’m having trouble enabling “Key-Range” from the chin parameters menu while having both program link and poly chain are turned on. (when I enable keyrange, the polychain and program link turn off.
@@d__CrossMusic oh man, I'm really sorry, but I'm away from my studio for a while so can't check the behaviour of mine right now I'm afraid! Have you tried any of the user forums for advice on this?

Can I poly chain a deepmind 12 & deepmind 12 (both keyboard models) for 98 playable keys?
I'd say so...
Just set the octave range per keyboard to act as the split...
Depending how voice heavy a patch you're using they may not even need to be chained?

Most definitely...! I've loved the 6 since I first got it... but the 12 is a whole lot deeper... the 18 was crazy, so a 24 feels inevitable!
