B.C. Black Bear Hunt In The Kootenay's - Bear Down, Then Stolen From Another Bear.

- I am back in the Kootenay's doing a quick hunt with an old friend. I grew up in the Kootenay's and it was nice to get out and see some of the country I grew up in. It was a slow start to the night and it was extremely buggy. So instead of sitting and glassing a known good bear area. We opted to slowly do some road hunting and exploring, as it has been many years since I had been in the area. I end up spotting a bear and it turned into two bears, which I am sure were a boar and a sow. After shooting the one bear the other came out and started eating the other bear. I never had my tag or a rifle as I had just came from shooting a match in the U.S., I should have at least had my tag with me. The live bear ended up dragging the dead bear into the thick timber and when we tried to get close, it was huffing at us and we were loosing light, so we backed out. Leroy went back the next day with dogs and retrieved his bear, I had to go homeland couldn't be there, but he sent a few clips of the retrieval. #bearhunting #hunting #blackbearhunting

I've always said when the bugs are out the bears are out , great video and congratulations you guys , I've had this happen to me a few times while hunting bears and i live in the same area

Hi Steve, I was shocked to see that second bear come running as Leroy took that second shot. He didn't care about the gunshots, he just wanted that other bear. I'm curious as well, but I don't think they mentioned it. It's difficut to tell but up close it looked like a sow. In June most of the time the boar is following the sow around and it's not uncommon for the sow to be larger.
Hi, it was a female and I kind of figured that, as the other bear was following. I wonder why he attacked her and started ripping her apart. I guess we will never know. Thanks for watching and the comment, take care.
@@supdru hi, yes it was a female. It just made sense to me as he was following her every move and the time of the year. She was a 5' bear so a medium size and the boar was about the same maybe a little smaller. So you are correct, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment, ,take care.
