    I had an 02 Solara with the 1MZ and 5-speed.. miss that car every day. Engine loved to rev and pull and sounded great doing it, smooth as an inline, and it was more fun to shift than the FR-S I replaced it with.
    Parents have an '18 Camry XSE V-6.. I _SO_ wish they made that with a manual because it would 100% be my car too. Even with the auto it's way more fun than it should be (and is a fantastic car besides).
    This is so awesome, what you've made here.
    The 2GR is an absolute gem, it's the MZ family perfected. (in spirit - I know they're unrelated)

    • @WiseGuyzGarage

      Toyota should have seriously made them manual from the factory, especially with a sportier appearance it would really sell. These cars would be a heck of a lot faster if they had a limited slip, and a manual transmission from the factory. Those solaras with the 1MZ/5speed are really rare. Barely sold even new. Crazy you even had one!

    • @WiseGuyzGarage
      @WiseGuyzGarage  8 місяців тому +4

      We did! The TRD supercharger is super hard to come by also. Eventually we want the slightly bigger one from the Evora, upgrade the brakes to the Highlander variants, and then go AWD W/a 5speed manual! The TRD Supercharger needs an intercooler, that’s why it only makes a few more HP over stock. Rumor has it Toyota was extremely conservative with the tune also.

    I really want to figure out how to 2GR-FE swap my 13' Scion tC. I have more engine bay space than that generation of Camry, so I think I can get away with it.
    Considering I use the exact same motor as the Camry 4cyl of the same generation, I'd imagine swapping that V6 in isn't impossible, but probably really involved and would require a lot of weird parts being swapped around.

    • @WiseGuyzGarage
      @WiseGuyzGarage  2 місяці тому

      In all honesty the engine bay is setup exactly like a rav4 with the 2GR. When I was looking to swap the 98 celica, I looked at the rav4 mounts and the gen2 TC mount use the same aluminum spacer bracket on the engine side. You use the same exact mounts as the 2ar rav4 as well. There is zero reason why it wouldn’t just plop in there with the rav4 engine mount on that side! The exhaust would need to be custom of course but that is the easier part. If you ever get stuck shoot me a email! Thanks for watching!!

    • @WiseGuyzGarage
      @WiseGuyzGarage  8 місяців тому +1

      Yes that is exactly what is going on. So the ECU actually adjusts the VVT Tables ( from my understanding) depending if it is detecting if the torque converter is engaged or not. It will put the engine in a "limp mode" state if it suspects the transmission is faulty, and searches for the code involving that. When the ECU thinks it is in drive, and doesn't detect the TCM, cruise control DOES work, but it will NOT have full power. The switch is there to basically go from neutral, (this retains full power at all times) back into drive JUST for cruise control. Thankfully Frankenstein Motorwork's exists, and if you are serious about the swap, I can 100% confirm the switching from different gears is mitigated/no longer necessary with his ECU. I tried the 08 Rav 4 ECU that is in my 91 MR2 2GR swap in this car, and it worked! He cannot tune the factory Camry ECU because it Requires the Immobilizer to be present, and cannot be cracked. Using the early Rav4 ECU is quite easy, and only needs a few wires moved around in the harness. The immobilizer will resync to your car upon completing the connection on the harness, as the ECU he sells is basically tricked to return back to a virgin state. Hopefully this helps, and thank you for watching!

    How can I go about to do this for a 2.4l 2008 camry?

    • @WiseGuyzGarage
      @WiseGuyzGarage  5 місяців тому

      If it’s a manual 2azfe Camry, you would need the entire engine assembly from a 2GR fe. Ac lines, ecu, harness; and modify the engine bay fuse box. You also need to swap the radiator, and fan controller to work with the v6. Ac amplifier is the same, but you need to make sure the amplifier is from the same style Camry. (LE, XLE, etc.) the 2azfe manual transmission cv axles will work, but they are weaker. That’s a few things, and I’m sure there’s more I’m not aware of. That’s why I recommend getting a v6 car to start with, as all of the chassis integration is already set up properly. Hopefully that helps!

    • @WiseGuyzGarage
      @WiseGuyzGarage  8 місяців тому +2

      Yes it will indeed bolt up. No carrier bearing will work for it. We made a custom one when we had the eb62 in this car. You would need custom mounts and brackets for all 3 mounts. I personally don’t prefer them anymore. It’s all too common to have bearing failures. The cv axles for the narrow e swap work for the eb60/62

    • @WiseGuyzGarage
      @WiseGuyzGarage  4 місяці тому

      If you happen to need to replace the 2AZ with a 2GR, you’ll need to replace a lot of other components, like the ac compressor, cooling fans, engine bay harness, fuse box modifications, and the drivers side mount to name a few. If your looking to convert a manual Toyota Camry CE into a v6, your best bet is to find another v6 model with a blown transmission, and swap all of the transmission components over into a v6 chassis. Hope that helps!
