Fa'a'ā International Airport (French: Aéroport international de Tahiti Fa'a'ā) (IATA: PPT, ICAO: NTAA) is in the commune (municipality) of Fa'a'ā, on the island of Tahiti, French Polynesia, 5 km (3.1 mi) west southwest from the town center of Papeete, the capital of French Polynesia. Tahiti is in the northwestern part of French Polynesia, and this is the only international airport in the overseas collectivity of the French Republic. It opened in 1960. Air Tahiti and Air Tahiti Nui have their head offices at the airport.

Took this flight in 1997. So beautiful flying in at daylight as the clouds part, allowing you to see what you will be in for. Thanks for posting! I do remember hearing all the mosquitoes rejoice upon my arrival though.

I flew to Papeete Tahiti right after 9/11. It was around 9/26/2001...what an amazing flight, the landing was stunning on a Air France 747 Jumbo. As we landed I could see many armed military with assault rifles around the airport parameter, and I could see many native Tahitian bungalow homes surrounding the airport with many..many young and old natives on and around their homes smiling and waving, it was so moving...beautiful Tahiti.😊✌
