I’ve always been fascinated with these tiny little Oceanian island nations, including Nauru and also Tuvalu I hope to visit one day! 😀

Haha the airport is clearly visible on satellite images of the country! They even needed to extend the airport into the ocean because the island was too small to fit it! Little Nauru, respect from USA
They extended it because the NZ government wanted to use Nauru as an airport in the middle of the pacific for emergency landings of their old 767s.

@@ramblin-randy - No. Living in Brisbane. Haven't been to Nauru though! Proud of her! Has been a pilot for over a decade at least. Sad to hear about ET302 crashing yesterday with 157 on board.

Nauru looks absolutely stunning in this video. The centre of the island was supposedly destroyed by phosphate mining, but it looks lush and green in this video. I think the place has fantastic tourism potential !

This aircraft (VH-XNU) used to be Air New Zealand's B737-300 (ZK-NGJ). I flew this aircraft on NZ674 from Dunedin to Auckland in 2013 so I'm glad that the plane wasn't scrapped.

When the plane starts landing your in Aiwo, then you roll to Yeren, then you roll to Meneng. Then after that you roll back to the terminal

Give you an example mate: if you intend to land on a Mango you have to fly via the Pinapple first in order to align with the Mango- runway.
Wind direction... the plane needs to go against the wind for take off and landing

Thanks! I'm reading it now. I traveled around the world back in 2000. I've been to more than 50 countries, but not yet to Nauru, St Helena, or Pitcairn. These are a few that are on my bucket list.

It’s the flyover landing. Sometimes for take-off. Back in the days it would be done on special occasions like Nauru Angam and Independence Day with the captains special PA and also when foreign dignitaries and VIPs come to visit Nauru
