Super scary movie. The ending was also sort of depressing., which made it more so. I'm always interested to see these lists. I always find out new stuff. I had no idea that the monster in Cloverfield was called "Clover" as it was never mentioned in the movie. I would have absolutely loved to have experienced them first hand
Jennet from 2012’s The Woman In Black is hands down one of the scariest ghosts in horror films. Matched with a chilling back story. The movie was executed so perfectly. It deserves more recognition!
So glad to see the behemoth get the top credit for the mist. It didn't kill anyone. It didn't seem to even be aware of humans at all. It just kinda shambled in the background but the scope of it and lack of awareness made its reveal that more potent as a monster and really set up the hopelessness the characters experienced going into the story's finale. When I saw it, it made me think of being in a situation like in an Open Water movie and stranded in the ocean somewhere with no chance of rescue and just having a huge fucking whale show up and just like swim by. Like "this massive creature doesn't see me as food or a threat but could inadvertently kill me in an instant without even noticing I exist." It goes beyond being hit with own mortality. There is a serious existential implication to it. That's why I love that scene so much... and its haunting but serene sound effects on top of the atmosphere and soundtrack... The Mist is campy as fuck and most Stephen King adaptations are but that scene with the behemoth reveal stuck with me, even more than what followed.

Question…for the Creeper…wasn’t the Creeper awake for 23 days every 23 years. I don’t remember there being a 23 person limit on how many he could hunt.
The Grudge used to scare me, but ever since I watched the third one and saw her slithering on the ground, I stopped being creeped out by it. It made me laugh so freaking hard

I'm glad Underwater got some props because I loved that movie. It's one hell of a Rollercoaster and portrays the terror of the deep ocean so well with a great lovecraftian feel to it.
I'm 50 and have loved horror since I saw "he knows when you're alone" at age 7, then "American werewolf in London" at age 8 then found the novel "the shining" in a hotel room in Atlanta when we were driving to Florida for vacation from Ohio; which led to a lifelong adoration of Stephen King as well ...but my favorite all time horror is "cabin in the woods"
The Creeper came out every 23rd spring to feed for 23 days, not on 23 people. Clover actually came from space, just watch the scenes at the end where we get to see the train trip to Coney Island, you can see something plummet from space and land in the water just off the coast.
I can’t believe tooth fairy from Darkness Falls wasn’t on here… its based off of the real legend of Matilda Dixon which the story enough is scary and saddening
Nothing can beat Jeepers Creepers that was the most terrifying shit I've watched because it was about a scarecrow man that show gave me PTSD at a young age but now I'm alright💀

That said... I think a good list of "Horror Movie Monsters" Should be focused on movies with a monster, or at least one group of monsters. Bscause we never get to see the monster but only get creepy night sky shots indicating that it is in the sky watching over them is even more hair raising and tense. Nah bruh for 2019, I highly recommend the pick to be the Pale Lady from Scary Stories to Tell In The Dark. I literally wish I could have unseen her absorb Chuck in that hallway.
