    Starmer will expel any labour mp's who vote against this . There is a large feeling of unease within the Labour party that Starmer is becoming extremely dictatorial . I'm convinced that his downfall will eventually come from within his own party

    What Starmer seems not to realise are a few factors: That people mainly voted AGAINST Sunak,than FOR Starmer.That only 1 in 5 people voted Labour.The turnout was one of the lowest ever,so it may be only one in 7 that voted Labour,and they might turnout to vote them out next chance.Hes not there through vast public enthusiam for him.

    My mum is 97.. she is cold virtually every month of the year.. her heating was turned off for two weeks during August.. what with the cost of fuel.. her bills are extortionate. The winter fuel allowance helped massively.
    She has a little savings but not even enough to help pay for care if she needs it.

      My mum is 92 and always cold bless her, she is disabled and poor iron levels don't help. She doesn't have any savings and is panicking . We, the family, who are not well off and mostly pensioners ourselves have made a pact to all put in a little bit to ease her stress.

      Whilst there are some pensioners who will suffer hardship, there are others who enjoy a very comfortable standard of living.
      A more targeted approach such as limiting it pensioners who are basic rate tax payers would be a fair compromise.

      On principal I agreed with it. I mean it's ludicrous that Elton John, Paul McCartney etc receive a winter fuel allowance. Having said that, if people who earn slightly over the Pension support credit amount, and are going to struggle financially, then that is totally unacceptable, and the Pension support credit threshold needs to be urgently looked at, and raised.

      How can you call the UK a democracy when a party imposes 100% of it's manifesto after only getting the support of 20% of the electorate?
      Democracy is the will of the people - not just the majority or plularity. Democracy takes account of the minority viewpoint, led by the majority.
      No country in the world is an actual democracy. They are pseudo-democracies that flip between viewpoints every few years to achieve balance.

      I live in what was Barbara Castle’s ( later Jack Straws) constituency. We had a very competent constituency MP, Kate Hollern, who was a terrific MP for her constituents . At the GE she was supplanted by a man who stood as an Independent, his whole election bid was based on “ Free Palestine ” he has published documents which are blatantly anti semitic. It’s very worrying.

    What effing skills do train drivers actually need - they don't even need to steer?
    I'm pretty sure driving trains could EASILY be handled by computers (so called A.I.) - for a lot cheaper than train drivers are paid.
    Any Labour MPs that really do understand the way Two-Tier is crapping on pensioners and other ordinary working-class people, NEED TO DEFECT TO REFORM!

    Y'know what amuses me about all of this? Boris Johnson was exactly the same when it came to the whip particularly in the early days. He lost dozens of MPs from his ranks. And look what ended up happening to him. Never say never when there is such a clear precedent.
