      @@sirako A perhaps politically incorrect ethnic reference. What is now the Czech Republic was originally called Bohemia, and the Czechs were called Bohemians. But now, tired of the persecution they endured under that name, they prefer to be known as Czechs. Much as the Gypsies now prefer to be known as Roma. However, among English speakers, "Bohemian", like "Gypsy", has now acquired its own (more positive) connotations apart from its original designation. My intent was to recognise the Czechs as the origininal Bohemians, and to extend the sentiment to modern "Bohemians" everywhere. History plants amazing seeds, but it also leaves some deep wounds. To any who might find my use of "Bohemian" insensitive, I apologise.

      @sirako A more modern meaning is Bohemia: Someone who lives an unconventional lifestyle such because an artist may or may not do. It comes from the 19th century when many artists and writers lived an lived a nonconformist approach to life and art. It was often used in a derogatory way by those who didn't care for nonconformists. Phooey on them, I say. Live and let live.

    Great arrangement of an original masterpiece by Maestro Zappa. Many thanks to the orchestra for helping to keep his music alive. You know music is good when people are still playing it live when it was composed over 50 years ago and then given an orchestral arrangement, and well after the Maestro passed on to Music Heaven. His compositions have even been played by school bands and orchestras. It will live on. I miss Frank. His music, talent, wit and social commentary... and of course his humor. This brought me to tears. I hope he knows how much we love him, miss him and that his music is still played and revered by all who like good music, and that new generations are being introduced to his wonderful music.

      corey edwards I love FZ yes! I also like his son Dweezil Zappa, who is a brilliant guitarist and musician. I also love (as well as blues, R&R, Jazz etc.) classical music. my partner is a classical musician... has her degree, and I love classical music, and I play guitar well, I cant say I play piano or Cello as well, lol but I am persisting at it as well as learning music theory. I especially love this song of FZ's from the album 'Hot Rats'.... 'Classical rock I call it'
      thank you for your 'comment' Corey :)

      I'm not familiar with Zappa what albums would you recomend starting with?

    • @ziggyzappada4554
      @ziggyzappada4554 10 років тому

      corey edwards WOW!! let me see Corey.. 'FZ and the Mothers of Invention' was the name of the band... many a musician did their apprenticeship (so to speak) playing in this band... such people are Steve Vai ( who was a 'Transcript Transposer' for Frank at the age of 18 years old) , he went on to play in the band as a guitarist and is one of the worlds best today (guitarist/musician) I have counted that FZ had 70 something albums! he recorded before his unfortunate 'Passing away' from an undetected enlarged prostrate at 51 years old. ( what a waste of a genius's life, he had so much more to offer) Just a little history for you to start with. Also Frank 's real love was 'Classical' music and used 'Rock and Roll' as a way of financing his real love (classical music). He (frank) composed music for 'The London Symphony Orchestra, The New York Symphony Orchestra etc.
      here are some of my favorite FZ albums
      Zoot Allures
      One Size fits all
      Apostrophe
      Hot Rats
      Joes Garage I, II and III (triple album, or I first then II and III.. I forget now , but brilliant!)
      these are a few you could start with, if you don't like them I can suggest a few more.
      some people say FZ music is an acquired taste... I loved his music as soon as I heard it, it was full of humor, that, I loved!
      Are you aware that Frank has a son called Dweezil Zappa (I am telling you this as I am thinking you are quite young?) relative to me anyway (I am 55 years old)... Dweezil is a great guitarist and musician like his ol' man... His band is called 'Zappa Plays Zappa' (ZPZ)... because he plays all his fathers songs, live! he tours the world. FZ's music skipped a couple of generations and Dweezil is bringing it back to life! He plays Frank's music, and if my memory serves me right, he used to, or still does play with 'The Wallflowers' (someone will correct me, I am sure, if I am wrong.) Dweezil also has a lot of past members from 'The mothers of Invention' as guest appearances some times... Steve Vai.. Terry Bozzio (drummer and percussionist) and many more.. you might like to listen to some of his 'covers' of frank's music (I guess you call them?.. not renditions) Dweezil doesn't like to sway to far from the original 'transcript' or 'composition' though. you can find heaps on 'you tube'.
      Happy listening Corey, I hope you like his music, like I said, some people just can't get into it. I love it :_)

    This is a great composition, one of Zappa's best. I think Frank would've been proud to hear this arrangement of his music. It manages to sound as if it had been originally composed for a philharmonic orchestra, while also staying true to the spirit of Zappa's music.
