1:00 Looks like the same blue that is on my 2018 Escape. It's just called "Blue" by Ford. Sometimes dealers refer to it as Blue Metallic. They only used it for 2018 on the Escape.
@@RaitisRides Well I only know because my Escape is the same color as the Explorer in your video. It's a nice shade of Blue. Don't know why Ford chose to just call it Blue. Kind of a boring name for a nice color. The Edge ST comes in Performance blue and the Explorer ST comes in Atlas blue which is almost identical. I agree with you that Ford should have kept the Focus ST and the Fiesta ST here in the US. Maybe there will be an Escape ST?
I agree with you Joe. Ford made BIG mistake eliminating the performance CARS from their lineup only leaving the Mustang. I suspect there may be some mishaps with some people driving faster than their talent in these. The rising gas prices will impact sales of Ford vehicles that are now SUV heavy. Bring back Focus ST, RS and Fusion Sport. Looking at the new Focus ST that Europe now has shows Ford has lost their way by now bringing to market here. Sorry for the rant. Now work by the engineers trying to make a silk purse out of sow's ear but not liking performance people mover especially with this mass. Thanks for the review, you always gives us the real deal!

just got out 2020 explorer ST last week with the technology and street packages ... honestly hands down absolutely amazing drive, was about to buy out our lease end 2017 sport, glad we decided to lease again this vehicle is unbelievable. Only complaint is the “upgraded” B&O sound system, I know it’s better than the previous sony but am I only one that felt it’s a little underwhelming with not having enough good bass sound?

Had a X5 with M Sport package....traded it on a new Explorer ST with the street pkg. The 10” touchscreen wasn’t my favorite, and I had my eyes on one without the tech pkg to get the 8” screen.....but the massaging seats in that package sure make up for it. I will also say the screen isn’t as obtrusive as it appears in video reviews. It does not stick up into the field of view and I dislike it less the more I use it. All that aside, this thing runs great! Love the power and the 10 speed auto. I agree that the textured fender trim would look better painted body color, but that finish should hold up to parking lot abuse. My X5 fender trim was painted and didn’t hold up well to parking lot abuse. I agree that there should be usb power for the third row, but I’ll just put a dual usb plug in the rear power outlet like I used to do when K had a Durango RT. My one complaint so far: the ST trim should have active exhaust...selectable or at least when in sport mode.
Not digging that infotainment screen. Should be in the dash. Hot summer days will kill that screen over time. Overall not bad. Those wheels would look great over my oem 20s on my 08 limited awd.
Great review. Love the twisties... i just cant wrap my head around an explorer with a sticker of $57k !! But it seams to be a quality product with a great blend of sport and utility !!
@@cleptomon Yeah for the price it’s excellent , I was gonna get a SRT Durango but it like was 10-12k higher and I like the bells and whistles with the ST .

They tried to sell us a less expensive Explorer but after driving the loaded ST, the lower trim models just weren’t doing it for us. I’m waiting for the leased models to come back so I can pick up a used one.
Used car prices suck but I just bought one with 13k miles and I’m absolutely loving it. Understandable it’s expensive but if you can trade in/refi and still get a relatively good payment, it’s worth every penny. I came from a 2016 C63s rwd amg and it was completely justified. Off warranty, minimal practicality, uncomfortable, high insurance, less technology, list goes on and on…
Joe, I had to revisit your review, based on your review, I bought my wife an atlas blue ST! We love it, got every option, took the car out of town, got 28 mpg, more than enough power! The black 21" wheels with red brakes look awesome, thanks for your hard work! God bless you and your family, God bless America, 🙏😎USA 🇺🇸
The grille and headlights not lining up with each other and that screen ruins it. Haven't driven the ST. It has respectable performance but has kind of a numb feel. At least it handles a lot better than my 96 I have.
Ford can do so much more for the explorer. The St is a good start but what about magnetic ride and can we say coyote engine. 400hp is good but how about bumping that into the 500hp range.
The one thing I have yet to figure out is how you get the climate control display up on the infotainment screen? I’ve posted in several forums and only one person responded to me and said I need to buy this extra little gadget to hook into my diagnostic port to add that to the screen I think that’s ridiculous it’s got to be an easier way.
You’re right panoramic roof should’ve been included in the package and slightly better exhaust sound would be nice I think I will wait for them to workout the bugs of the first year before buying one I did some research some say the transmission needed some tuning and the 10’ screen was hard see because of darkness on the edges of screen and back up of course too small my question Why no aluminum like the F150 truck? They’re asking for a lot of $$$
Mr. Raiti have you ever thought about reviewing motorcycles? You do the best job at reviewing cars and I feel like you would do the same on other types of vehicles.

I don’t think people understand the logistics that goes into an engine swap. Some gal on one of my VW groups wanted to drop an RS 3 motor in her 2.0 Jetta 😂
@@RaitisRides I was thinking they were gonna go with RWD so it can be effective for the pit maneuver. I saw a video where an AWD Explorer Flipped over trying to perform that move.
part of the exhaust problem came from complaints from the police units many officers were passing out getting sick while driving guess this was to be the cure
Impressive get up and go + handling for a porky SUV. I like the color too. That price though, that is a lot considering all of the things it doesn't have.
Ok, loving that performance blue, amazing color. If I was in the market for an Explorer, the ST would be a no brainer. Not crazy about the vertical tablet look of the infotainment screen, but pretty sure I could get used to it. I saw my first 2020 Explorer on the road the other day. It wasn't an ST model, but was still a very striking and sporty design on account of the reduced overhang. I am really glad that Ford was bold enough to produce the ST. I hope they eventually do the same with the new Escape.
Just seeing this one Joe. Shopping performance SUVs. How would you compare this to the Durango SRT? And I'm sure you will take out the 2021 redesigned SRT (non-Hellcat) once available to compare with the 2021 ST, which is out right now.
At one time with the last generation Explorer, they actually had an issue with carbon monoxide entering the interior of their Police spec Explorers. To the point where some officers were losing control of the vehicle. I believe Ford actually recalled that spec at one point, but don't quote me on that. I know a large investigation was conducted.
With that deep well in the cargo area, Ford should have put a spare tire in there. Price is about 10K more that what it should be. Nice overall review!
Comparing it to the durango r/t its actually really good. Pricing is right around where the durango would be priced and power numbers are similar. Durango has a slightly better interior and infotainment, but explorer has more power. Pick your poison.

How does this one drive compared to the police package you reviewed before? Keep up the great work, Joe.
Michael Obama it’s pretty much spot on! Thanks for your encouragement!
This or the Telliride SX? Similar in price, pros and cons to each... decisions.
Great review I'm considering this vehicle. Keep up the Great work.
Joe do you think you can find a 94-98 Saleen s351 to review? Maybe the rare cobra model saleen.
I will try to track one down! I love Saleens so when I find it I will be all over it!
I have question ??? There all Ford Explorer same size or different sizes???
The one thing I have yet to figure out is how you get the climate control display up on the infotainment screen? I’ve posted in several forums and only one person responded to me and said I need to buy this extra little gadget to hook into my diagnostic port to add that to the screen I think that’s ridiculous it’s got to be an easier way.
There should be an on-screen button.
BETWEEN 2020 Ford suv st. And 2020 Acura MDX sport package?
Will seee!!
Let me know how it goes!
Toyota 4Runner.
Mdx type S
Sounds and looks fast while hitting that throttle
Thanks for letting me share this one with you1
Which specific color is this car?
forgot to mention about the sunroof on the interior. is that explorer a 6 or 7 seater?
Can you get the Sound Symposer delete kit for this Explorer ST like you can cancel the pumped in sound with the Focus ST?
You’re right panoramic roof should’ve been included in the package and slightly better exhaust sound would be nice I think I will wait for them to workout the bugs of the first year before buying one I did some research some say the transmission needed some tuning and the 10’ screen was hard see because of darkness on the edges of screen and back up of course too small my question Why no aluminum like the F150 truck? They’re asking for a lot of $$$
Price is a little high for what you get ( or don’t get.) For me, the Edge ST is more suitable in size. Love the color. Nicely done Joe! 👍🏻👍🏻🇺🇸
L S good call Larry!
Mr. Raiti have you ever thought about reviewing motorcycles? You do the best job at reviewing cars and I feel like you would do the same on other types of vehicles.
Hi Jonathan! Actually I have. I rode motorcycles for over 14 years! I am probably going t create a separate channel.
I'm with you brother I absolutely love that performance blue, it's gorgeous!! That explorer is sexy!! I'm so sorry I missed your livestream yesterday! I never got the notification on my phone for some reason 😣 I definitely would have joined and dropped a superchat! Great review as always Joe!! 🤙🏻🤙🏻
Thanks Eric! Great minds think a like! I promise we will have more coming up! You are a great person.
If I had the cash I would get this explorer from Ford love it very nice too nice video to man keep Dem coming
Thanks Saul! I am so glad that you liked this one.
@@RaitisRides keep up the good work brother respect
Once I get my 2010-2012 Ford Escape Limited, I want this engine in. 400hp is more than 240hp. Right?
I think so! 😉
I don’t think people understand the logistics that goes into an engine swap. Some gal on one of my VW groups wanted to drop an RS 3 motor in her 2.0 Jetta 😂
@@JustKieffer sometimes fun is not very logic. 😉
I hope you'll get one in a near future sir Joe 🙏👍👏
Thanks for saying that!
Will the Police Interceptors be set up for RWD or AWD?
Jason Suthern AWD
@@RaitisRides I was thinking they were gonna go with RWD so it can be effective for the pit maneuver. I saw a video where an AWD Explorer Flipped over trying to perform that move.
part of the exhaust problem came from complaints from the police units many officers were passing out getting sick while driving guess this was to be the cure
It is interesting that that they couldn't seal up the rear a little better!
Thumbs up brother .great review as always.
I wish they would bring this down under to replace the Territory, and bring back the Falcon/Fairlane on this platform.
I don't like SUVs, but this Explorer looks really good.
I know how you fee!
Is the performance on this ST significantly different than the Platinum?
Yes its more sportier.
I totally agree with your points Wayne! Escape ST would be killer!
Can you do a review on a 2019 honda civic lx coupe not the si or sport the lx model.
I will get that together for you my friend!
Raiti's Rides thanks i really appreciate it i have post notificationson and watch your videos daily.
Looks like u had fun bro.
For an SUV it was!
I'm sorry but zonk to the tablet on the dash...failed attempt at Tesla...a definite distraction...and that reverse camera....?!?!?
I feel your pain Melvin!
Best commentary ever!!!
Just seeing this one Joe. Shopping performance SUVs. How would you compare this to the Durango SRT? And I'm sure you will take out the 2021 redesigned SRT (non-Hellcat) once available to compare with the 2021 ST, which is out right now.
That info center should of been integrated into the dashboard looks like they just threw in there.
The mods made ended up leaving holes in the floor pan that weren’t properly sealed.
@@wompa70
I figured it had to be something like that, since regular Explorers weren't having the same issue. Thanks for the update.
With that deep well in the cargo area, Ford should have put a spare tire in there. Price is about 10K more that what it should be. Nice overall review!
I wanna see a f150 trim level comparison with your opinions on them because of the discounts offered at different levels
I will get that together for you!
Does it still have the exhaust smell inside the cabin?
Not based off that new exhaust outlet.
Comparing it to the durango r/t its actually really good. Pricing is right around where the durango would be priced and power numbers are similar. Durango has a slightly better interior and infotainment, but explorer has more power. Pick your poison.
I’d upgrade that fake quad exhaust first thing
Thought the same thing, a roush one would be solid.
Had to leave at 14:00 that wind killed my ears with headphones... Lol
Sorry
@@RaitisRides all good, you still have some good insight on whether or not I wanted to purchase this... Thx...
Do you know when you’ll have a review for the new 2021 Ford Explorer xlt sport appearance package?
great video I was comparing this to the 2020 dodge Durango rt.. what do u think is a better choice? I know the Durango platform is older but?
None of the above. Toyota.
Great review! What's the exact name of that color?? Looks great.
Performance Blue! Thanks for the compliment!
Hey Raiti does it have optional 3 seats in the middle row
Not the ST model.
Please do the Explorer Timberline!
Will do!
