The only request I'd make is for a little list/summary in the description so responding in the comments is a little easier than trying to squint at the tiny picture of the tiers to remember where each guy lives. Probably easier to see on a laptop than my mobile. Thanks!
I definitely think you underated Malkin. It's not even much of a question that he is a first ballot Hall of Famer and he should probably be in the generational tier especially since you included Kane in that tier in the first overall pick list. Only McDavid has more Art Ross Trophies among active players and Lemieux, Gretzky and Coffey are the only players in NHL history with more points in a single postseason than his 36 in 2009.
Barkov will end up in the Hall of Fame. He's one of, if not the best, two-way players in the league. Anchors a top 6 penalty kill unit and top 6 power play unit. The only other player you can say that about is Anzi Kopitar. The difference is that he's not in LA's first penalty kill unit.
Jordan may only be a half a point a game player, but he’s been one of the leagues best defensive centers for the past decade plus. He’s a fantastic 2 way player, lacking the talent of Eric but much better defensively
Kind of dogging Landeskog a little based upon the others in his tier and the impacts they've had across their careers. For me, he's more compatible with the lads one tier up. Reinhart has found himself in FLA but I still don't think he affects a game the way Landeskog does. GL is nasty (coming from a central division fan). Thanks for making these! Entertaining.
Barkov has been amazing last years, last season in stanley cup finals, this year at this pace has no competition in selke trophy and will be top competitor in that race in coming years. So good chance to become hall of famer
difference between Eric and Jordan Staal is that Jordan was a +49 and Eric was a -82 +/- Eric was the better offensive player but Jordan was a glue guy who excelled as a 2-way I don't necessarily believe either are HOF but wouldn't be mad if they made it. they were never "superstars" but are/were an often underappreciated part of the hockey pantheon
Jordan Staal's ability as a defensive forward was a key reason for why we won Cup in 2009. He also had 7 shorthanded goals in his rookie season alone. A year he should've won the Selke. It isn't all about flashy statistics when evaluating the value of a player.
Hey, love your vids. I think a video about a tier list like this of best 2nd round picks, 3rd, 4th, etc. To make it shorter - add some conditions to make it on the tier list. I've never seen someone do that before. So it would be cool.
I see some crying in Pittsburgh about some of Malkin’s deficiencies now as an old player and it irritates the crap out of me lol. This dude was an absolute f*****g monster when he was rolling and without the knee injuries I believe he could have been every bit as great as Crosby still is in his mid to late 30’s. I just enjoy seeing him while I can because he’s still a great player for his age, and once he retires it’s going to hurt man
Can't argue much, I'd say barkov will most likely be in the hof, but I'm a bit biased, but again shows how underrated he is because of his invicible plays
We need to keep in mind that the legacies of certain players are hampered by the performance of all time greats all around the league. For example, if Bergeron doesn’t exist, it’s very possible that Ryan Kessler wins two selkies and all of a sudden his career has quite a bit more luster. I feel like that could be the case for someone like Barkov to this point. Not to mention, even before tkachuk, he really wasn’t the face of the Panthers franchise. Even if he was, FL had such a small market before the arrival of MT that Barkov may have been slept on either way. At what point do we consider these outside factors to a player’s legacy when discussing overall careers and impact on the game?
Malkin also dealt with a lot of injuries. When healthy he was one of the best centers in the league and is almost as good as Crosby. Blysma also refused to put Sid and Geno on the same line because otherwise they would be too top heavy. Sid and Geno on the same line could have been putting up ridiculous stats like McDavid and Draisaitl, but they probably wouldn't have 3 Cups.
Don’t agree with Jordan Staal. You can’t just look at points, He is an amazing two way forward, one of the best of the last decade. I’d say he should have been top line contributor
Just a note on production value. Record your visuals on the same day you write your script. You clearly wrote this script, then recorded the visuals a few days after as you kept quoting stats that didn't match the visual on the screen for every player and it was quite distracting.
I don't think Eric Staal is a Hall of Fame player. Never led the league in any major stat, never won any awards, and other than being a top 4 Hart finalist as a 21-year-old he never came close to winning any awards. Staal got to 1000 points because of longevity and consistently putting up 70+ points every season. I just don't see how you can put Spezza in the Hall of Very Good when his numbers basically matches up with Staal's. Also going to throw out Eric Staal is a -83 for his career. That's not a Hall of Fame player.
Your first four picks were all a spot too high. Malkin is a tier above E Staal and he’s a tier above the other 3. I’d say lehtonen might be 2 too high. Seguin and Spezza are good comps. I think landeskog and heatley would be too for a tier with them
"I never would have taken him that high if I'd known this is what his career would look like" -- Such a strange sentence, the thing is, no one knows what a career will look like.
Do you agree with my Tier List? What are some other NHL or Hockey Tier Lists you would like to see in the future?
The only request I'd make is for a little list/summary in the description so responding in the comments is a little easier than trying to squint at the tiny picture of the tiers to remember where each guy lives. Probably easier to see on a laptop than my mobile. Thanks!
@@dxs2007^^This is a great pro tip
You should do third overall picks next

Jordan Staal is kicking ass as a two way forward and a face off king. Point totals aside he’s awesome
Kopitar is on LA's 1st penalty kill unit. He's paired with Kempe.
Barky is top 2 in the league and he isn’t 2
@The-Real-Yoda69 They are both on the second team penalty kill. First team is Danault, Moore, Anderson, and Doughty.
@premiumnapping5627 You ain't lying, my friend. #GOCATS
Kopitar has 2 Stanley Cup rings so he will be in the HOF. If Barkov doesn’t win a Cup that’ll really hurt his chances.
Jordan may only be a half a point a game player, but he’s been one of the leagues best defensive centers for the past decade plus. He’s a fantastic 2 way player, lacking the talent of Eric but much better defensively

As an Avalanche fan I can’t wait for him to be back!
Bobby Ryan is such a beauty miss watching him play
Barkov has been amazing last years, last season in stanley cup finals, this year at this pace has no competition in selke trophy and will be top competitor in that race in coming years. So good chance to become hall of famer
I love seeing Lehtonen get some love however you can’t put him above Landeskog.
We're talking about Kari Lehtonen, a retired goaltender for Atlanta Trashers and Dallas Stars.@@user-nq4vs7ql2f
Landy should be one tier up
difference between Eric and Jordan Staal is that Jordan was a +49 and Eric was a -82 +/- Eric was the better offensive player but Jordan was a glue guy who excelled as a 2-way I don't necessarily believe either are HOF but wouldn't be mad if they made it. they were never "superstars" but are/were an often underappreciated part of the hockey pantheon

Flyers are cursed. The last 3 top 5 picks (JVR, Patrick, Gauthier) were flat out dogshit for how high they were taken.
Patrick was out of their control

Leon and mcbaby arent playing on same line only in pp
I think Jordan Staal was the best defensive Centreman in the league when he played in Pittsburgh.

Hate to see how much hate Pens fans have for Malkin now after he brought them 3 cups and has been a HOF player his whole career. So underrated.
You should definitely do 3 overall picks next

Curious where Marleau would rank here
You should do a last overall pick tier list
I strongly believe no one would recognize any of the players lol
Last overall picks almost never make the NHL. Could do 7th round or late round picks though
Id def say kakko is low on top line contributor. Hes a selke guy
Cocko is lukeing grate laitly. Realy elevatered hiz gaym.
Selecting second overall is inherently harder than selecting first overall 😂
23 years Damm
Seguin is easy hall of very good
Doughty was 2nd overall pick
Doughty is on here lol.
