RIP, Gaspard Ulliel. Such beautiful acting, in this film and in so many others.
One of my favorite movie endings ever...among first 10...goodbye Gaspard Ulliel...so sad that you're gone so young...
He just died.. he was so young! I'm so sad. Rest in peace Gaspard Ulliel.
Best scene in the movie. She looks at him, and looks at him and looks at him. :'( That's how it is when you truly love someone, you just want to look at their face.
The most brilliant movie I have ever seen in my life , the realism , the storyline , the depth of human love , the detail of that generation , everything , it is a masterpiece .
Bruce Burns I love this film so much. I agree with your assessment!
Sleep well....... Thank you for this scene, and movie.,......... Sleep well.....
To me the most memorable movie of my life , from the two female actors and their love of their male partners , also the beautiful French culture , truly amazing .
Ya then you remember the millions of men who died and the millions who lost there homes during the first world war. Its beauty is paint and just hides the horror.
My father was one of the ones in the trenches for two years and ended up in hospital in England for two years with wounds , naturally was never the same when back in Australia , ruined his mind and life , same to the family , we also paid the price , wars don't stop just because there is an armistice it continues in the minds of the combatants till the day they die .
Amid all the horrors of every war, there are personal stories of love. This film is a strong statement about the triumph of love and hope over hate. Your comment makes me feel pity for you.
Do you mean pity in a good way , or do you mean pity in a sarcastic way ??
@ Bruce I can't answer for Paul but I'll do for my opinion. I feel compassion for your story as I have compassion for my own being the grandson of a german marine officer of WWII.
I guess my grandfathers were both lucky. The other one was mobbed by the Nazis being a avowed social democrat, he kept a low profile which saved him from being put into a concentration camp I guess. One of my great-uncles was on the eastern front. His soul was so wounded he only spoke once of the horrors and how he tried to escape them. I never learned from him directly when I asked. He became completely quiet for the whole weekend he was visiting and never talked to me again. I learned his story from my uncle and that was the first time in my live i felt true compassion for a fervid nazi.
Gone too soon, when we can no longer look forward to your next projects. But grateful for les films you left us with. They are a comfort in this time of grief. We cast you into the stars, forever young.
Saw the movie on a long International flight 15yrs ago and has stuck with me. One of my all time favorites. "But why are you crying" - that line was the perfect ending.
Hi
Gaspard 💔
Que d’émotions.
Adieu Gaspard .
Saw this, next day, saw it again...astonishingly beautifully made film...exquisite, in my top 5 ever films for sure.
may i know ur top 5
RIP Gaspard Ulliel. Gone too soon.
"Does it hurt when you walk?" 😭😭😭😭
He had told her the exact same sentence when they first met, as kids 🥲
Oh my word, it gets pretty emotional when you reach this point of the movie after all that has happened. What a great movie.
Does it hurt when you walk ? the same Words !!!
I watched this movie in theaters exactly 17 years ago, on this very day, in February 2005, on a Sunday, just like today. One thing I remember, I so much hoped Mathilde's fiancé was going to be found. And when this scene came up, I was relieved. I had almost forgotten this movie, as well as more or less everything surrounding it. But then, a few weeks ago, when I heard the news that Gaspard Ulliel had left this world, this movie, this scene, everything came back into my memory all at once. I realized I had been following Gaspard's carreer ever since watching this movie, and that I had told myself back then '' he's such a gorgeous guy, and a great actor''. RIP Gaspard, we miss you lots.
RIP Gaspard Ulliel! What a tragedy :(
RIP Gaspard Ulliel
"Does it hurt when you walk?" For the second time, these are his first words to her. A hint that, after all, he will fall in love with her just like the last time?
Absolutely. Pretty cool.
💖 unforgettable Gaspard Ulliel ✝️💐🙏❤🌹🇫🇷😪
1:40 🥺
Gaspard ulliel this guy can play an innocent amnesia soilder and a dangerous pscho killer in hannibal rising
Nirbaadh bhardwaj I was just thinking this. He is so sweet, looks so very young and innocent in this film, which perfectly suits the character, but he adapts and plays a terrifying character well, too.
Actually, the sweet innocent looking ones often play the best psychos if they have that dark side to access (I know from experience...).
rip Gaspard Ulliel
Un film et une distribution éclatante pour cet acteur que l'on n'oubliera pas de sitôt. La vie est injuste quelque fois...rip🙏😪💖
RIP Gaspard Ulliel (November 25, 1984 - January 19, 2022), aged 37
You will always be remembered as a legend.
If you haven't seen gaspard in STRAYED, you must watch his other master piece so talented!
Anyone own any of his newer movies? I haven't watched YSL and UNTIL THECEND OF THE WORLD
By far the best film I've ever seen
It's definitely up there on my list.
This is my favourite movie, and this moment in its simplicity is the ultimate payoff, beyond any lustridden Hollywood tack.
Gosh man your comment is so deep. Thank you from France. And please try to tell people who are joking about the "french cowards" to stop it. It's such an outrage
@@nicolasdubus669 I'm Canadian, and with the way my beloved Quebecois countrymen drive, the French are definitely brave! :p ♡
@@DASRH you always been there for us. I'm living in Normandy where so many brave Canadians died in 1943 and 1944. We owe you
@@nicolasdubus669 You owe us nothing but your love mon frere. It is an honor to defend the nations which birthed our own country.
Vive la France Libre.
@@DASRH damn ... now I understand why Americans are so mean about Canada, you're just too kind, too respectuous. They can't understand
This was a beautiful movie!
I completely understand that scene ...When I fell in love with my fiance ,I remember the moment we were sitting at the kitchen table the sun was coming through the window and his eyes looked kind of hazel golden brown..more golden brown and I kept looking at him thinking I am in love with him . He left 3 months before we were to be married but I understand that kind of love I felt it...He broke the spell by asking why are you staring at me lol...it is true when you love someone that much you want to look at them ....
Who else thinks he’s beautiful ?
Amalia Me! There is something so sweet and innocent about his face.
Me! He my idol❤❤
There's a reason he's a top tier actor
I’ve never thought in the beauty of the actors in this film....I’ve always thought in the beauty of the film ,the cinematography, the music...so many things..
And of course the beautiful souls of the main characters in the film.
The film is an eternal masterpiece
Every soilder heart touching my deep soul . If is next life become me only soilder for my soul
Rip
Hug him!!!!!!!!!
Nice
Pour quoi tu pleures? 😂
So many comments from so many countries (yes a lot less than for a Marvel *facepalm*). I didn't know that this movie worked so well out of France
bittersweet ending, happy he's alive but sad they won't live together technically
You don't know that ...
Spoilers ?
It is a fantasy anyways. She is in her 50s (it is after World War 2, 30 plus years after the main event) yet he is still a young man.
non ww1
C'est 1922 et c'est juste après la 1ere guerre mondiale. Mathilde est née en 1900.
No, of course.
Good movie, a bit to predictable though
More than Pearl Harbor ?
The thing is, you know what will probably happen. But how exactly, is the mystery and the intrigue.
