I enjoyed the depiction of the French front of the First World War, but I found Mathilde annoying at times. She inconveniences and even hurts people trying to find out the truth, but when it conflicts with her version, she turns into a childish brat. I just watched her slap a man for not agreeing with what she thought happened. His penance was having to carry her across a battlefield miles long because she can't walk it herself. Titanic this is not.
