Weathering here is spot on. Anyone who's worked around military vehicles, knows first hand how brutal the elements are - even to this day. I can imagine any Kupp Protze still in service towards the end of the war, would have been mauled.
@@ModelNerd Do you intend to build the Quad including the limber and gun? Just add a crew for instant diorama. ANOTHER great, vintage Tamiya kit. I LOVE the Tamiya LRDG truck. After all the years since it first appeared, no other manufacturer has attempted to produce and release a similar, competing kit. Nothing looks better than a LRDG loaded up with tons of guns and supplies for an extended mission in the desert. I look forward to your upcoming efforts with your Tamiya oldies but goodies.
The quad is painted and the decals have been applied - I just haven't done any weathering on it yet. The version I have is only the quad (no gun). I'm not going to use the kit figure because he is in desert gear but I've done a European camo pattern, but I do have a figure from a Miniart set that should work.
In my opinion. The Tamyia Kits. .are the Best. All pieces .no Problem to build. No cuting ..all is okay.I have the Krupp Protze in my collection ..this is a beautiful kit..Greets from Christian
That's a classic kit: I've built it three times now. Great finish on it as well - I had never considered finishing it as you have here. I think it looks great. Great vid, thanks for sharing
Man that looks outstanding. I was in the U.S Marines. And yes I trained with the British Royal Marines. That was fun. But the model really looks like the real thing. Like if it came out of battle that's what it would have looked like. Again great job. Take care
Nice work. I built and scratch built several conversions, one is a light repair truck by taking off the sides and replacing them with metal tool boxes and a tarp. The other was a communications truck, was thinking also off a field first aid truck.
The measuring devices on the front of the truck are actually called semaphores. It’s a way to indicate which direction the vehicle is going to turn. Great looking truck!
You do very nice work and I really enjoy your videos. I've learned a some good techniques, especially your formula 1 builds, which as you obviously know can be a little tricky at time. A very enthusiastic thumb(s) up!
Intrestingly enough there are two versions of this, one that i have comes with 3,7cm antitank gun being towed and completaly different figures & accesories.
I think I've seen it since I made this video, though it seems to be quite rare. I believe the back of the truck is also slightly different (ammo storage?)
Really great job.....really enjoyed the build and your commentary, very informative as usual. I remember those kits back when I was a lot younger....really fun to build (although badly finished with non-model paints and lots of glue to fill the gaps!!) Will look forward to seeing the Tiger soon.
I built one of these when it came out. I even bought a PAK 37 to tow behind it but never actually got to building that. I still have it unbuilt in my loft.
Fantastic build💯 your paint really brought it to life 👍 I remember that kit when it was released and wanted it just couldn't afford it. Had to wait till my 20s to get it. Girls alcohol + some other things caused me a brain fart 😁 It has always been enjoyable back in the day, that was state of the art. I have it again and the AT truck by Tamiya. In my stash might have to add it to my Anzio dio. Again fantastic build.
Dear Sir The seat shown in video 10:51 is too clean. But the final result in video 13:01 is excellent. How do you whether the seat? Would you please share me the brand and color number of paint? Thank you very much
I enjoyed this video. You've done a great job with video editing, making it a pleasure to watch. You provide very nice weathering techniques. I have some of these kits in the stash and look forward to building someday.
Had to re- read that comment. Thought it said “because it will do that if it’s not applied math” , wasn’t modelling supposed to be fun, I get applied math and modelling, but gee 🤪👍
Thanks Bill. I thought I was pretty familiar with Tamiya kits but after looking up the Horch I can honestly say I've never seen that kit before! It looks interesting though...
@@ModelNerd it was on the leaf springs. Ues I know you do good work.. I was just kidding ya uncle model I wouldn't fuss to much. I wish I could find half the kits you've built thus far, as there all sold out when I do want them, plus shipping is killing me too
Hehe, thanks - no offence taken. I always appreciate feedback :) Yes, I was very lucky to live in Asia where kits were very cheap and widely available :D A lot of those in my stash were bought then.

This kit will never go out of date with its quality, detail and price. You did a great job on it. The muddy tires are primo.
Thanks Lawrence. This, the Quad, the 88, and the LRDC truck are some of my favourite Tamiya classics.

Excellent video & job building and weathering your Tamiya German Krupp Protze Truck too!
Thank you very much!

Great finish on it as well - I had never considered finishing it as you have here. I think it looks great.

Thanks mate, glad you liked it. It was between this finish and the winter whitewash. I might have to build another variant just to do that...
Well done! Thanks for sharing your techniques. I recently bought this kit and you've given me ample inspiration. Keep up the good work .
Thank you - I'm glad it was useful
Looks very impressive, great tips.
Thank you Guy!
Looks awesome. Interesting to see that the cheaper solution worked better than the specialist stuff.
Yeah. I'll try the AK Worn Effects again until the bottle is used up, but then I'll probably stick with the old spray :)
@@ModelNerd i tried salt but at 10mm think it is too course.
Yeah, I think you're right. I've tried salt but it is too humid where I live - the salt just goes damp on the model :(

Sick! Just sick. You make it look so simple and so easy and your models come out amazing!!! Keep the builds coming.

great job !!! very well done.
Thank you mate
Just got this for my birthday
Have fun building it mate
Fantastic technique on weathering... thank you for the video

Thanks Noel. That sounds really cool. I like all those unusual and one-off conversions of vehicles like this. It really makes your model unique.
The measuring devices on the front of the truck are actually called semaphores. It’s a way to indicate which direction the vehicle is going to turn. Great looking truck!
Thanks, I'd forgotten that older vehicles had those :)

Just discovered your site and subscribed. You have done an outstanding job on the finish of this old classic. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Clayton. Yes, I built it once a long, long time ago. I have no idea what happened to it though. I guess it got thrown out at some point.
タミヤのプラモデルはGOODですね
Nice job.

Dear Sir

How do you whether the seat? Would you please share me the brand and color number of paint?
Thank you very much
Hi. I can't remember the exact colour but it would have been oil paint thinned with odourless thinner.
I'm building broncos with the pac 37 I think I was being towed being bronco is a challenge haha
Dang, you do this in 1 week and it takes me 2 months to do models lol.
Oh, it was much longer than one week. I usually have more than one model on the go at once, which is why it seems quicker.
Slow down. I’ve just finished the PE on the back deck of that Lee. Finish looks great. They’re good kits to take a break from interior kits!
Thanks. Yes, definitely a good break.

Very Cool.
Thanks Ellis - thanks for watching :)
So you know how you painted the wheels black say I wanted a muddy look would I paint them brown?
I'd paint them black / rubber black still, then cover them (maybe partially) in something to simulate mud.
@@ModelNerd ok thx for the tip
The reason the Worn Effect Fluid made those big spot was because it will do that if it’s not applied on a matte surface.
I hadn't thought of that. Maybe I'll try out some test pieces and give it a go. Thanks for the tip.

Please show in your videos which paints and washes you used 😊
Thanks. I will do that in future videos - thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks Bill. I thought I was pretty familiar with Tamiya kits but after looking up the Horch I can honestly say I've never seen that kit before! It looks interesting though...
@@ModelNerd They are cheap mate, and still available, I plan to buy one and put some soldiers and stores in it for a quiet diorama
Wow, you're not kidding - it's only 12 USD on HLJ. Definitely going to look at ordering one. Thanks for the heads up.
@@ModelNerd 9.29 USD from Hobbyeasy. And always happy to help out a fellow modeller mate.
Nice

@@ModelNerd no problem
Never had that bubble effect with he chipping fluid...maybe sprayed it too heavy? Regardless, awesome job and think I'll get that kit for myself!
Thanks. Yeah, I'm thinking either I sprayed it a bit too heavy or maybe it wasn't dry enough before I sprayed the paint on top.
Hey nice job mate, can you recommend this kit?
Thanks William. Yes, it's a nice build and not too challenging.
nice!
Thanks!

Nice work uncle model need, but you got to sand them sand lines out.
Where are you seeing them, Rick? I don't necessarily show dry fitting with cleaned up parts but I do my best to clean up before assembly.
