    Dear Tomas,
    Thanks for sharing the excellent work.
    In video 12:30, do you use Tamiya acrylic to paint the seat?
    if you do, what is the paint number of Tamiya acrylic and mixing ratio?
    Thanks

    • @stevieRay3211
      @stevieRay3211  Рік тому

      Hi Chang. The base leather colour on the seats was actually an old bottle of Testors rust which they don't make anymore. Any leather tone would work - red brown with a bit of white or even rust with white. Some paints do have "leather" as a descriptor. I overcoat the base brown with Tamiya clear orange which helps to get that padded leather look. If you use plain old Tamiya brown acrylic or enamel as a base then overcoat it with the clear orange, it should give the same colour as the video. Good luck with your project!

    I guess I need to build a couple tamiya kits, it looks like they practically build themselves

    • @stevieRay3211
      @stevieRay3211  2 місяці тому

      There's really no going wrong with the Tamiya brand. The armour kits may not be the most detailed on the market part-wise, but they strike a perfect balance between detail while keeping complexity in check. My biggest beef would be with the pricing on some of their newer boxings, but like everything else these days, prices seem to be going up on everything. Good luck with your projects and thank you for your note!

    Great truck, great model, great build. But you never mentioned the scale until 23 minutes. I guessed the scale from the tools in your hand, plus the accessories you sourced were a clue. But the scale should have been in the description!

      Hi Hoppin. In my defense the scale does appear in the title sequence, albeit briefly. Good suggestion though since this kit does come in 1/48. Arguably the most important vehicle in the German war machine. Many survived the war and they were used everywhere. Random fact: GM already owned Opel prior to the war; after the war, GM sued the US government for damages caused by bombing its Opel factory; they won the lawsuit. Weird.

    • @stevieRay3211
      @stevieRay3211  3 роки тому +1

      Kind of an ironic twist to the story. But what were we to do, bomb around the Opel plant? It was a freakin' world war and the Nazis were trying to take over the world. Thanks for the note Felipe!

      Thanks for the note PB and I appreciate the feedback. It sucks having to set aside the figures in these kits but time constraints when making the videos makes it difficult to finish them in a reasonable time. Plus I fear if I start to include the figures the series may turn into a comedy. All the best sir and thanks again!

    Hello Tomas ... The wood planks on the cargo bed looks fantastic !!! Do you apply your oil paints after applying pledge floor protector or another clear varnish. I personnaly find it difficult to blend oil paints on a gloss surface or at least a surface protected with varnish. Can you give me any advice ?

    • @stevieRay3211
      @stevieRay3211  3 роки тому

      Hi Alain - thanks for the note. I put the oils over the gloss coat. I usually use flat acrylics to finish the models and oil pin wash doesn't work properly unless it has a gloss under it. The oils I use to create highlights and shadows seem to work okay when blended over a gloss too but you may be using a brand that doesn't do as well on gloss. I use very little paint, almost a dry brush, when applying the highlight and shadow oils then blend them. Maybe put your gloss down, pin wash with oil, then dullcoat, then use your other oils. Find a way that works for you and your materials. Keep at it and experiment!
