Great video!!! Thanks a lot! I would be cool if the next video on this topic would cover the automation.modes - Touch, Auto-Latch and Cross-Over. But I think that's already in your head...
Is there a way to reset a single automation point to its neutral/default position? E.g. If editing panning automation, to set a point to exactly central? Thanks!
If we're using automation on vocals, will the automation data be pre effects of post effects. So in other words, will the automation volume changes affect the effects of compressor, eq, etc as well or just the volume of the vocal?
it automates the fader not the gain stage, the fader is past your inserts, so no, it wont affect the amount of signal that goes into a compressor (in a insert I/O) however if you have that channel sent to a prefader send bus, you will certainly here more effect when the fader automates down and less effect when it automates up :D
Still the weakest part of cubase is automation. Where are the beziers? Auto show lane for touched parameter? Drag up n down and create nodes? 2016 is almost over but this part of cubase is stuck in 1999. Sorry for the rant but really would love to see this stuff.
"Auto show lane for touched parameter?" It definitely already has this feature, I think you just have to go to the preferences and activate it. I know because I had to do it myself.
it has the ability to show automation parameter that is being recorded in the automation pref panel. Not just touch it and it shows. (Like ableton/bitwig)
Hmm... those 2 things sound very similar. Can you not just start writing automation to a certain parameter to have it's lane pop up, then just press Ctrl+Z to undo what you wrote, and then you have access to the lane to whatever it is you actually intend to do..?
Hello, no, the feature it's still there. Go to the Automation Panel (F6) click on: Automation Settings on the lower left corner of the window, and enable > Show data on tracks.
Once again a very useful video. Love these. Great job. One question/suggestion for future videos: I've been wondering if Expression Maps could be useful in my productions. Could you make a Quick Tip Video about this at some point? Thanks again for these great little tutorials. Like I said before, this adds huge value to using Cubase and I can't think of using another DAW.
hello , i have a question: are there any form to use the right pedal to record in a piano? thanks because when i push the pedal this produces the sound of a note
Show me how to highlight a range on an empty automation track, and then drag up or down just the selected range without affecting the virgin territory. Like how Pro Tools does it. Currently, if I drag a highlighted range up or down, it moves the entire volume line for the entire track. I want to only affect the highlighted area. Why doesn't Cubase create automation points for the highlighted range? I don't want to pencil in my automation points first. That takes way too long.
Never mind - I found out that Cubase hasn't caught up yet, so we have to use the square curve tool and hold down shift to draw the section, then switch back to our select tool, grab the bottom two automation points, then drag them up or down. Tedious. Amazing how Steinberg can't figure it out yet.
Seria super interesante que realizaran video en español, ya que la traducción que se co sigue en subtítulos es nefasta y además si lees no ves las acciones que realizan.Como tienen personal capacitado para hacerlo, piensen un poquito en el mercado español.Gracias

Nice video! Thank you, just what I was looking for!
How to adjust volume after automating all tracks without moving automation but all changes
Great video!!! Thanks a lot!

Hi Andy! Could you explain about "Wrap controls" for the tracks in your next video?)))
Awesome! Thanks!
Gorgeous
Brilliant!!!! Thank you!
How to choose between the automation types? ramp or jump

Bump- Did you ever get this answered?
@@joshuaallen2198 I didn't. I expected holding ctrl or shift to do it but no luck.

4:15 - if I select range and move it up and down, new points are always created at the edges. How to disable this, please ? Thanks
Perfect video. Thank you.
I sow this video several time but i did not understand how to activate those automation point!

I'll do a video on it...
Please do!
Has the feature to show the wavform underneath the automation been removed from 8.5 ? All my searches are leading to dead ends :(
Hello, no, the feature it's still there. Go to the Automation Panel (F6) click on: Automation Settings on the lower left corner of the window, and enable > Show data on tracks.
It's funny produces are always finding ways to save time and at the same time we love to procrastinate 😆

Absolutely. I've got one on the go as we speak! Thanks for the feedback.
Great! Looking forward! :)

thanks because when i push the pedal this produces the sound of a note
Hello, that is because you have not properly set your MIDI inputs. If you have it to all MIDI inputs that is what happens.
Why can't we edit it in the piano roll editor ???
i don't get it, i can't get it to work. the only thing i can do is record a separate midid file and then glue them together
Still no Random line in cubase 8.5. We're waiting best be seeing it in 9.
The volume on my track disappear when I write the volume
!wow finally i found it

You didn't show how to toggle between the "jump" and "ramp" modes. Seriously now?
great post and tips ;-) Trevor TU^ 24
