This to me is the brilliance in Bob's playing. Melodic and forward while never getting in the way. In that regard, his work on the "Bark at the Moon" solo is much the same. Just magnificent!
They had a lot of bleed back then because they were all recording in the same room, so the cabinet mics were inadvertently picking up some room ambiance. That's what gave albums the warmth back then; contemporary recordings just sound so cold and soulless.
First request I made to my bass teacher. Working on it ! Playing bass was one of my dreams.for so long ! Thanks for this track, I really need to hear the track to learn it and.with Ozzy's voice it can get a bit tricky :)
Me when I first played this: Oh, the bass doesn't sound so tricky, I could probably play this one without much issue. 1:18 hits: Oh, oh that's what gives those sections so much oomph. I'll leave that to the gods of Rock.
@@AlfieForrester In general, yes, but that's not what happened with the Blizzard of Ozz 2002 remaster. There was some sort of legal dispute between Ozzy and drummer Lee Kerslake and bassist Bob Daisley (bass) so for the remaster, Ozzy hired Mike Bordin and Robert Trujillo to record a new drum track and bassline respectively, in addition to remastering the vocals and Randy Rhoads's iconic guitar solos. For the 2011 remaster, the original drum track and bassline were remastered. If you compare the two versions, you'll notice a difference in the way the drums and bass sound. That's because they're not the same recording, not the same musicians.
Kylynn Jade dude I know what u mean I’m trying to learn that part and I can’t seem to get the timing right I don’t know, it’s so easy but I just can’t get it
I do like it, but there are hundreds of Ozzy's songs (studio, live, demo) where the two main audible parts are vocals and lead guitar. It's just refreshing to hear one of his songs (even if it's not an official release) where another instrument is at the forefront or isolated. Plus, imo, Crazy Train > Goodbye To Romance.
1981 live could’ve been Rudy Sarzo too. This should be the studio master which would be Daisley, it’s completely possible he used a pick in the studio.
_Where on earth_ did you get this multitrack file?! The MOGG file I have is the shitty re-recording Robert Trujillo did. I'd really love to have the original, unadulterated version.
Living in the age of the isolated track being widely available has been a revelation. I’ve played this song for years and was missing some cool stuff.
Omg, I couldn't agree more!!! The availability of isolated multi-trackZ has taken my appreciation of the music to a whole other level! 🎸
Bob Daisley is a true legend!
Apart from being a great and iconic part, the bass line is genius in that it mimics the rhythm of a train in certain sections.
I wet my pants when he kicked in with those sixteenth notes on the solo.
His awareness of where the beat is and where to accent and where to ghost note is so inspiring. He's like a second drummer.
1:17 how does he sound like an actual train??
16th notes with and an accented note on the one, every 4 with a slide or hammer on.
@@Endureth on the bass?
@@Endurethits just 16 notes octaves
Once it gets to the solo I love that part that complements the solo so well.

I love the bass in this song I dont know why but it's one of the most beautiful things to my ears
Bob Daisley playing a "Gibson EB3 Bass"!
Thanks. I knew this sounded weird, almost cheesy sounding. Somehow it fits though?
He was playing it through one of Randy's Marshall heads too lol.
I like how you can hear Randy Rhoads playing in the background
Yeah, complete isolation is pretty much impossible... I kind of like it this way too.
They had a lot of bleed back then because they were all recording in the same room, so the cabinet mics were inadvertently picking up some room ambiance. That's what gave albums the warmth back then; contemporary recordings just sound so cold and soulless.
2:45 I like that that pesky guitar is no longer drowning out that killer bass solo.
@@SpongeBath_ShitPants the dude probably isolated it himself using an eq. I don't think this is the actual multitrack
@@pobremalone1155 It's already been confirmed that these are the genuine multitracks.

How fortuitous of this to be made literally 10 days ago right when I need it. Thanks for putting this out there! :D
No problem, have fun jammin'
You must value accuracy in your bass lines. :)
@@SanitysVoidthis definitely wasn’t him playing I’ve heard this track many different places
That sixteenth note octave skipping thing on F# gives me trouble. Daisley is such a great player.
Me too, and I started playing the bass in 1991. Trying to learn this song for my current Rock covers band.
Beautiful tasty playing and swingin' sludgeball.sludgehammer rock tone man!!!

such speed power and acuracy love ya bob.
From Mungo Jerry to Ozzy...what a ride!
Rainbow in the middle there....
Don’t forget the GREAT Widowmaker, in which Bob was the principle writer.
Sounds like a slight bass fuzz pedal in the mix😁
It’s not. It’s just that bob played through Randy’s guitar amps, giving him a bit of distortion
I try my ass off, I cant go that fast.....you gotta listen to my words.
Play involuntary doppelgänger it’s easier
awesome Bobs the King

Thank you!
2:45, is the best part
That sounds way more distorted than it does in the mix, crazy how good it sounds, does anyone know what pedal he’s using (if he’s using one)
Otamabread Pretty sure it’s just an eb-3 into a Marshall. With a pick
Austin Crawford ah, thanks.
It might be Robert Trujillo's bassline from the 2002 remaster. He tends to use a lot of distortion on his bass.
@@andrewfutterman3346no, they don't re record for remasters, it's just how it's mixed so it doesn't sound so distorted

Weird this could be isolated to be a lead synth part from 80s tech band.
2:20 I can’t play that one part for some reason. Everything else is easy accept that part.

Nathan_Guitarist101 yet I can play dragon force through the fire and flames. Course that’s only three strings
Pedaling is a hard technique to master, especially when you have to simultaneously string skip like that.
Dakota Jade TTFAF on bass uses all 4 strings
Hi whats the brand of bass strings that Bob is using ? Thanks
Bass strings.

I prefer a bass isolated/guitar barely audible Crazy Train than a vocal and guitar isolated Goodbye to Romance

Hi. What distortion pedal is used on this Song? Thanks
No pedal, only Marshall amp driven hard

Is this Bob Daisley or Robert Trujillo ?
Bob Daisley played on the original 1980 version - this is the original as well.
Bob Daisley.
Pretty sure it’s Daisley. I don’t think Randy’s guitar would bleed through the track if this was the re-recording but that’s just me.
Here's another great bassline, from Black Sabbath.:ua-cam.com/video/RwbpwkUkV3I/v-deo.html

compare this tone to the 2002 re-recording: ua-cam.com/video/Zj2J-T4_QLA/v-deo.html
This is definately not the original, it’s probably the re recorded version
Why does he keep repeating that part? It sounds weird
