The interesting thing about playing against an "Amateur" player is the factor of unpredictability, even if you're tuned in to normal betting patterns they can still really surprise you. Sometimes even the most experienced players can get sloppy on an educated guess and end up wrong on the read and pay for it. Just another thing I love about this game.
The top players know the other top players are playing theory. It makes it more predictable because they are playing odds and averages. Non pro's and amateurs still play off a hunch or superstition. You can't rely on them playing "right" at that level.
Once again an interesting video. I especially liked hearing about different player styles and how to play them without necessarily sticking to theory. Thanks Daniel!
Definitely a fold…nice fold!! Not enough odds for sure but your right, most people would have snapped! Thanks for the videos Daniel…a chance to learn from the best is pretty cool!
I think he said it perfectly.. he was the chip and he was trying to avoid playing sloppy. I think Avoiding getting into coin flips when you leading and not getting the right price to call is crucial to stay on top 👍🏻

(I'll check to see where I'm at) Pro- Sees a ten of hearts. Wishing he could hit his flush on the river now, but for some reason, can't belive the guy has the ten. But still chance to hit the flush. Amateur- Yes, I hit my set!! Still nerves of the flush coming. I'll bet to see where I'm at. Pro- Dam, I missed my flush. Still over thinking Amateur- Yes, he missed the flush!! I Bet!!! Pro- Over thinking, over thinking, over thinking, calls, loses. Dammit!! Amateur- I'm not bluffing no more!!! 😂
I literally started to learn holdem after printing your writings at your blog, and then reading them for a few times in the early 2000’s - which I enjoyed pretty much. Even if it was ages ago according to the evolution of poker, what remained is your own, unique style and personality. Did your methods improve? Very much likely! Did you manage to still be on top? Without any question. What remained in the meantime is you as a person who shares his ideas in an unselfish, irreplaceable way. Because of it, you still, undoubtedly have my respect.
I didn't know what I was doing for the first few questions and waited a long time on one answer but got a 71. I'm pretty impressed with that software Daniel!
That 56% number seems wrong. I think with this bet and pot sizes, you need 102 / (102 + 182) = 36% equity to break even, so calling would be profitable
49 - considering I can count on two hands how many times I've played cash poker I'd say that, while I'm no amateur even, I can hold a candle to other rec players and make a few bucks in the process...I really want to get better at this game big time.
5:0 reminds me of how sometimes pro boxer can take some shots from an amateur just to see his movement and than form strategy and kill him afterwards with one shot.
that who Daniel always reminds me of, that actor from Silicon Valley who played Russ Hanneman in this scene! I had to see them one to one to finally associate
Would an ICM adjusted GTO bot with a limping option and multiple rfi size options make this play some times? I think it might, but I'm not sure with a risk premium vs the big stack being pretty high. Nearly impossible to run such a complex sim though, need better hardware 😂.
I got 72, most of my decisions where on line with gto but my sizings where sometimes off by a lot lol, the gto tends to bet bigger than i do, good to know i need to bet bigger mostly on turns on rivers
The hybrid poker thing was cool. I think I got a 66, but it only flashed for a second and never emailed me the results like it said it would. I think it was 66 or 64.... Waiting to take the full one till I'm rested and ready. You are right about the software, did it on Android, really cool. I like How it makes you think of your frequencies and bet sizes, and set them precisely. Also love this style of video. Thank you for sharing your thought process.... I've come a long way from watching you make soul reads every other tourny lol. The "you have KK or AA right?" And making him fold, best hand ever! Best wishes DN
I got 63, but I do play at low stakes where a lot of solver lines don't apply usually. And also I'm really bad. So yeah pretty neat test, thanks Daniel
I've got a 60. My judgement is good, but my sizings are off :( Gotta work on those. Some of GTO sizings are incomprehensible though - for example minbetting 10% pot on BOTH flop and turn with a gutshot - what is the point of that?
@@carlosdiaz4322 Contacts, mine make me do that, especially when it's a low humidity day, I live in the desert also and my eyes are always dry when wearing my contacts.

I love watching Daniel 's thought process. Similiar to watching Brad Owen. Obviously this guy is much more accomplished. After watching a lot of these videos I do feel like he could make an interesting case for literally any decision at anytime. That could be true, but it does not mean there are not some decisions that are at least marginally better then others.
Any idiot can justify whatever decision they really want to make... but the proof is in the money, and I'm pretty sure DN has results that show his decisions are a lot better than most people.
This guy clearly hasn't got the best vision as he keeps getting up to see what the board is. I like how Daniel is saying what it is and making sure he reads it properly, true gent!
Makes a lot of sense, definitely a good fold you can live with. Do you think he factored in those pot odds into his bet to get you to fold? Or did he want you to call so he would also get the benefit of a coin flip and possibly extend his tournament life?
I'm not very good at poker, but I love learning things in these videos! Can someone explain why it's considered a "punt" to jam with A4 suited like he talks about @14:10? To me those sound like good cards if I'm only facing one other player because you could pair your ace, draw a straight, or draw a flush... but is it because the paired Ace is just too weak or something that makes this a bad move?
I’m not the beat either so take this with a grain of salt, but he said the dude “5-bet” with an A5, which is really not that good when you consider how many other raises there are in the hand already. Your opponents that are raising probably have much stronger hands than you and could even just have an ace with a better kicker. Or just have kings, queens, etc. So 5-betting A5 is really not advisable. I’m not sure what the odds are of winning but probably not very good against those ranges.
@@mochiman100 thank you for explaining! That definitely makes more sense considering the size of the raise- thank you for taking the time to help me understand
The weird thing is Daniel is tripped out about how the first guy plays so weirdly when he literally stood up at each ten freaking out to make sure it was. I guess Daniel took that as a bluff.
Playing in my first ever big tournament on Sunday (the 10mil overlay). I am very nervous and I dont know whether I should play tight or not. I have been playing low-stakes poker for around 5 months now, but I still consider myself as a brand new beginner. Any tips?
Playing people I don't know and just regular players it really makes all these strategies not as powerful though they can still be valuable to know. You just have to play strong hands and not be so predictable and passive. I could see folding pocket Aces being a good move depending on the bet size cause no pocket pair is guaranteed to win and it limits your outs to 2 cards usually. It's all about having balance and getting lucky
Does the possibility to knock out one good player affect your thinking aswell in this spot ? The price wasnt good enough for you, i understand. But to take him out is not a variable here ? Sure there is the risk to double him and make him stronger again.
Love your Video's Daniel. Thank you. As an aside... I wish they could block out the noise of every player at the table shuffling chips the entire time.

I once played against this guy who just "know" how to play poker. I got AK in position, I bet 10BB preflop, he called. Flop came pretty much nothing, I 3 barrelled untill showdown, he checked-called all of them out of position. I tried to bluff him out of it, I know it was kinda bad to overplay AK when I didn't hit anything. But then he showed pocket 3, out of position. It was really surprised cause he could hero call when the lowest card on the board is a 5. So Daniel is right, probably don't try to do to whacky stuff with an "amateur" cause you don't know what is he playing with Again: I know I wasn't playing good with this particular hand, but you know the point I'm trying to say

Tbh against 88, AJ has 44% equity and in that pot you need to realize at least 56%, so it was a good fold regardless.
