Great to see the motivations back and you're making good progress again. An old guy I used to work away with a lot on big installations used to always say "we need to remember that we don't have to eat the whole elephant in one sitting".
Oh no, guys! I was a couple episodes behind, which is why I did not notice until tonight! NEVER run your cables the way you do! Always make sure to keep high voltage (e.g. 230V AC) and low voltage (e.g. 12V DC) well separated - and protected! You can do that by using cable ducts with separate parts for the two - or by using flex tube or fixed tubes to run them in. If you end up needing to change your cables it is also a lot easier if you use such - you can then change them without having to open the walls up. The insulation foam blocks you are using have a metal foil side, and if the cables you have run are worn through (could happen due to thermal expansion and contraction) this would make shorts even more likely. PLEASE pull the cables out and run them through some flex tubes! For your own safety! British regulations MAY be different from those in the European countries I normally check them - but I doubt it. ----- Also, I have not seen whether you have some ventilation openings in the boat? You really need that in order to prevent mold...
It's good to see some progress made that you both find encouraging. After that full day of work, it was a good idea to reward yourselves with a good meal at a Pub. You two are doing Great, keep up the good work!
guys, just a strong piece of advice: label the electrical wires. so that you know later which wire is which. also soon with the 12v system. I renovated my boat myself and labeling all electrical wires is a must at the fuse boxes. There are more electrical wires than you think and properly labeling the wires makes it easier to connect and also easier to detect in the event of a fault. keep it up I enjoy every episode. And just in case you think it will be easy, I will wake you up, there will be days when you will think what have I gotten myself into. but those days are quickly forgotten when you can cruise and explore the canals of England
Glad to see you getting better Chris - take it easy, and thanks for sharing your journey with us... it is definitely interesting and entertaining too, even if sometimes at your expense,... you have my empathy! Sometimes, even the best made plans go awry and we want to kick ourselves. Get well, stay strong - you guys are coming along, and as usual, looking forward to your nextr video! 😄❤
Guys, look back at your first videos of when you were pumping water from the floor of the boat and then look now....wow!! What a transformation. Keep going, it's going h to be a wonderful home when it's finished, and I for one will be VERY envious. You are both very brave in the first place to take on such a massive project, but to get it to where you are now is an impressive fete. Well done and keep at it, you're doing great!!
Great work week you 2 keep at it the reward is in sight i love watching your videos 📸 you 2 are great people keep pushing forward it will all be worth it in the end love this project and you 2 and your pupers have a good week
Little steps become big ones! Its coming together quickly now, hopefully you can get water and heating into the boat soon so you can start living a bit more normal!
Good effort on what you have done so far, but....I have seen many comments on your wiring that may be incorrect for your vessel, I don't know the regulations for GB. You should at least check with a local electrician to find our now before you go further. And, welding a flat plate on the inside of a hole which is open to the weather will not make it watertight, you should have cut a round plate and welded it in flush to the opening, then checked your weld with soapy water on one side and compressed air on the other to make sure your patch was sealed to the rainy side. Other than those 2 items, I wish you the best and more progress on the project !
Yeah or make the hole square. But anyway this is going to trap water in between the layers and rust, and it will trap water because it's open to the outside.
Was going to suggest you use that round window for a fart fan and condensation dump. You both making tons of fwd progress on this boat! Great progress!
I love your channel. Glad Chris is taking his time in working. Just a thought, what about taking the old port window & using it for the bathroom door. - Martha
Please don't give up you have put so much effort into your project. It does get to you some times .step by step you will get there so far its looking fantastic well done guys stay safe. 👍👍👍🍺🍺🍺
You folks have made a lot of progress since I made a comment. So far it's looking good!! I am looking forward to the next video!!! Take care be careful and well, I will see you on the next video 😮😮😊😊
i must say, i liked this "intro" Barley running towards the Boat.. and good tunes.. i bet that Dog is spoiled rotten :D i know i whould spoil him.. so cute dog. Big like on the build you are doing and hope you enjoy it as mutch as we do following it. Keep up the good work.
hello, I'm a new subscriber from Indonesia, I really like your content. and at first I thought wouldn't it be great if this ship became a restaurant or coffee place? ha ha ha
Have you thought about ballast to balance the weight distribution of your fit out material. Most of the installation is distributed to one side of the boat so the boat needs to be balanced. Allow for ballast chambers under the flooring.
@ luckily I live in a detached property with some space around me. She’s not too vocal when she’s outside either but she does bark like crazy at certain stuff on TV or unknown visitors (they need her approval).
I’ve been wondering why you don’t get a climbing gear of sorts to connect you to the riling (is that the word for the thing going around your roof where you could hook it on?)? That way you can work outside without having to keep the balance. Or perhaps it’s not as bad as it seems when looking at your videos?
Wow i wasnt expecting another video so fast, thank you!! OK one quick question, Have ever used DIESEL heater? They are quite energy efficient and makes thing quite cozy in cold weather...
you really need to fix the "Skylight" in the roof it needs to have a pitch on it and a way for the water to run off the surface and not have a frame around it you will be forever cleaning it because of standing water and constant water against sealant will start leaking...
It’s too bad that you couldn’t find a replacement porthole for that spot. That would have added a little nostalgic canal boat touch of class. Have you two considered putting in LED light strips instead the fact that they use way less energy and they don’t put off heat. And You probably would even like the color changing version that can be set to react in time with music for festive occasions.
I have never been any good at ignoring everything and focusing on one thing at a time. But it can be vital when you feel overwhelmed with the entire project. Getting walls up and sockets and switches in must feel like a big achievement though now. but you are only putting singles in. Will you have enough sockets? Now the floor is down and the walls up, how will you put the water tanks under it all?
For your cold you should have lots of chicken stock soup with just a little something spicy. Perfect for a substitute beverage for coffee. You can still have coffee but Milk, cream and butter are the things that you should stay away from while you have a cold because it will make it worse dairy has a negative effects on your upper respiratory system. In fact you both should stay away from dairy for a while.
well done you guys your both wonderful hard working people and to be honest you really do work well together unless there’s loads of cuts we don’t see lol looking good ❤ and look how far you have come if them boys hadn’t messed up the windows we would be nearly done well more done but let’s get over that the boat is really taking shape now really well done when you should be getting well in bed you guys are out working that’s committed ❤
I've been enjoying watching you convert this boat from a decrepit hulk into a home. However, there is something that I have been wondering about for a long time now. What are you ultimately going to power it with? If you wanted to outboard life it permanently you could have removed the original prop and had a mount and access added while you had it in drydock. I would get a large electric motor and speed control and just connect it to the propeller and install a electric car or 2 worth of LiFe batteries, with a diesel generator dropped under the deck on one side of the prop slot and a lot more solar panels. (Speaking of solar panels I hope you got a couple bulkhead connectors and installed them in the riser wall between the roofs to weather tight connect the solar panels). Even if you don't want to install enough batteries and solar to travel indefinitely, you could just run a generator intermittently while traveling. I don't think that most canal lifers are really traveling a lot, and don't really need as much travel battery capacity as they think they need. A diesel canal boat is barely over idle, and generally is mostly only run as a power generator for home life. If you go with a electric motor and speed control, then their run time is Only while you are moving, and the motor can be easily coupled to the propeller shaft directly without a transmission. The battery can be primarily sized for your home life, and while tapped for travel, can be offset and recharged by a dedicated generator which can be run at optimal efficiency when needed... Your tiller arm for the rudder could easily be straightened with a acetylene heating torch, you don't Have to cut it off unless you want to do something different... A garden cart or 2 (get ones you can daisy chain together easily) would be a LOT easier for you than a wheel barrow, and would carry more safer. I keep thinking that the nubs on the bow deck were for a containment railing, and that the sides of the bow deck along the walls would be great for outside bulk storage, for coal/wood/whatever instead of having to move stuff off the roof anytime you wanted to go anywhere... Sorry, just my thoughts, but, I am really curious about what you are planning ultimately for propulsion, that outboard mount isn't ideal, exposes the motor to theft and damage, and the rudder wasn't exactly designed to be used like that... it worked, but, it's something that you should get straightened out before much longer..., I'd hate to hear some other kids decided to drop it in the canal while you were at the pub...

My 16 year old cat Katfish has to be on my lap or under the blanket when I sleep. But she isn't allowed outside anymore because she is blind and keeps falling in the water.
Dont understand why you made a hallway. It seems like wasted space with the limitted space. Doorways going into the next room would open up the room more and give you more living space.
Great to see you are on the mend iwas a little concern about the comments regarding the wrong cable as a retired sparkes mate i wasnt Shure what the regs are when it comes to boats/ barges i was allowed to rewire a house but the sparkes would check it and connect it to the mains before signing it off and issue a certificate off wortheness 😅
You do not sound well at all. And I must ask, are you allowed to do you 240v by an electrical contractor do you need to have an electrician check it out before connecting to the main grid. As in Australia, it must be done and certified

It’s going to be super. Well done.
Great you are living in boat
So extremely
Cool

I do enjoy the work you are doing - way to build your dream.
Thank you!

Looks like a fun project
Good progress with some fiddly issues. Hope you can get a rest Chris, you don't want the illness to linger!

well done guys you looking good on progress and Barney doing good also....love your channel...
Thanks so much!
Experts say if you prepare Chicken Mayonnaise, you have to pay the chicken tax. Barley is the expert.
Duo Vagari, you are really spoiling us with all these videos.
Trying out best to post as often as possible 😁
I would love to do this with my husband. Thank you for the videos. I have watched all of them.
You have done well keep it up it will be worth it in the end
Moving on in leaps and bounds and good you can work as a team which always helps.
Great job guys
I like your vlogs, they’re very relaxing
Looks Like your gradually getting better
Thanks for videos
Have you thought about ballast to balance the weight distribution of your fit out material. Most of the installation is distributed to one side of the boat so the boat needs to be balanced. Allow for ballast chambers under the flooring.
What a day. Get lots done, and finish up with a good dinner at the pub. What more could you want?
Yes, I have heard a dog a vocal as Barley, my Lola… she’s also a silver dappled Black and Tan sausage! ❤️🤣
I bet your neighbours hate you. Ha. Ha.
@ luckily I live in a detached property with some space around me. She’s not too vocal when she’s outside either but she does bark like crazy at certain stuff on TV or unknown visitors (they need her approval).
❤ you will be there Xx
Can't wait for the next video and when you start canal cruising, always been a dream of mine
Corrugated paper board from old boxes is a fabricator's friend
I hate to be your dog walking in the snow 😂
What a nice treat another video😄 nice music to whos music is it love it .
Which music is your favourite we can check the artist for you?
@@DuoVagari Iiked the intro music all good though
Nice video, the boat is taking shape, for the electric motor, what did you buy where do you plan to mount it? Good work and get better Chris bye
You sound terrible, I hope you get better soon. I love Barley’s coat! It’s adorable! Wish I could find one like it for my Captain Jack!
Is there a floor plan to look at to get a better idea how it will look
Roll on nesx video. I will be disappointed when you are finished loving your boat building life.
Don't worry we have lots of work ahead ☺️
Please give your husband a microphone too 😂
I’ve been wondering why you don’t get a climbing gear of sorts to connect you to the riling (is that the word for the thing going around your roof where you could hook it on?)? That way you can work outside without having to keep the balance. Or perhaps it’s not as bad as it seems when looking at your videos?
It's tight working on the small space that's a good call getting a tie for safety
Just make sure you weld outside to seal so no water gets between your patch. Glad to see it coming together
Wow i wasnt expecting another video so fast, thank you!! OK one quick question, Have ever used DIESEL heater? They are quite energy efficient and makes thing quite cozy in cold weather...
Yes we use it everyday now ☺️
@@DuoVagari I was watching some car and van campers and they seem to like this type of heater,.
I hope you sealed around that hole before to tack welded the plate on. Or you’ll find out after the next rain storm
👌👍
👍
Poor man sounds rough
you really need to fix the "Skylight" in the roof it needs to have a pitch on it and a way for the water to run off the surface and not have a frame around it you will be forever cleaning it because of standing water and constant water against sealant will start leaking...
That's what we want plenty of D.I.Y and can you upload every week please will you be getting a new big engine in the future😅
Yes we will be getting one eventually. We will also do our best to upload every week 😊
Did you check the fuse in the welder plug before cutting it off?
It was the earth pin that had broken
Yes it was the earth pin that was damaged (, broken)

Sell that round window you took on line. People seek those out to reuse in there homes.
it's just like those ducks, two birds building a house/nest....in nature were all just doing the same
quick question for you is your cable house hold cable if so it will fail the bss it needs to be multi strand
We realised after Fridays vide we are going to have to change the cable
Thanks we have now realised thanks to everyone for letting us know we will hayti change the cable 🥲
