That really was a poor netting 🙃🙃 great video though, love the b rolls. Nicely done. Do you troll the 30 or 40cm ones mainly?
That netting was a disaster. 😅 Moving boat was the problem. Mostly troll the 40cm 30cm gets lots of action also.
2 I would pick straight away is the line thru roach 32cm and 40 and 30cm trout in natural. Seems to do the most damage 😎 even if you want to jump in with me some day or I go with you and you can have a look.
Hi Ryan some great catches there well done 👍🏻 👍🏻 would love to see a video on trolling planner boards I’ve recently bought two and don’t really know how to use them correctly but haven’t used them just yet as the waters i fish are a little to weedy at the moment I was talking to a lad and he said 2.5km speeds is probably best but I just don’t know there’s not much on UA-cam that I could find about using them anyway hope to see another video soon 🤟🏻
yes I Must do a video showing what speeds i use and when and why ! good idea !
Hi, I love your setup and was looking to get a boat like yours because I don't want anything massive with big engines. Would you be able to tell me what make and model your boat is.
Thanks
Hey yes, boat is a motocraft. Got it from conway angling in Ireland. Great advice and worth booking one he has coming in
Great video mate. Could I ask what rods your using? I’m thinking of getting a pair of SG Big Game specialists 220g for trolling and pairing with Shimano Casitas reels
I'm using the sg4 220g and also the sg4 130 at the moment, and doing a great job. It means if I want to cast, the 130g is still light for a nice feel. Having said that I did cast normal size lures like the river roach and goby with the 220g and yes it's a bit heavy for them but I was very surprised how much I still enjoyed the fishing with it. As I though it would be horrible but it wasn't.
@@freak.fishing Thanks for replying mate. Where would be the best place online to purchase the 220g rods? There are none in any tackle shops up here in the north. Cheers
@@jamesjohnston7418 it's a tricky one best thing is check them all as it's a matter of getting there first before they are gone again, google it and should bring up some on stock id hope
Good video, fair play. What distance do you find from the planer board to the lure works out as actual distance? Say I'm in 20ft and want lure 2 ft off the bottom...would you set it about 20ft? Trolling 2/2.2 mph...
I usually go around 15-20ft after the planer board. But these at 2/2.2 will be running around 10ft . Do you troll these much or what others do you troll?
@@freak.fishing yeah troll all the line thrus really. They have they're days...same as any lure. Boards handy for trolling deadbaits too
Well done bro 👏
Super fish 🤩
C&R 💪
Keep going I waiting for more videos
See you somewhere by the water!!
I spend most of my time on the water trolling. What speed were you trolling in this session? What was the water temp if you checked? And what depth of water were you trolling in? Cheers
Hey Johnathan I trolled a little fast at 2/2.5km and was catching these one the last part of trolling I tried trolling at 1.6 km with great effect. trolling in 20-30 ft of water
@@freak.fishing interesting . I usually troll at 2.5mph but even had tried a little at 3.5mph on my last trip and got a couple of takes. I may try a little slower troll on my next trip. Keep up the good fishing pal 👍🏻
@@pautard69 just realised when I read your reply in mph that I actually mean mph also 😳
Great video some cracking fish. Would love to see how the pkaber board works.
Nice video bud, them lemon trout are deadly, quick question, do to troll the lure far behind the planer board or how do they work, I’ve never used the planer boards but thinking about getting two they seem to be savage for covering more water 😅👍
Yes, on this day she blanked was only the natural that was working but it does serious catching on other days. Yes planer boards are great. Depending on the depth I want to run I just let it run as I would normally and then clip on the planner and let it a bit more to bring it away from the boat. :)
Nice video mate , I troll in December and January with the 40cm 32cm etc modified to run at slower speeds and go by the pressure high pressure being the best when the bait fish up top even see pike rolling first light around Christmas time 👍🎣🐊
Brilliant! Must try that! I have a 30cm trout i modified for the slower trolling and seem to be happy at 1.4 mph. How do you modify yours ?
Nic video man. Piking has hit me hard now this year. Have gone off and bought a fecking full fly kit out for the craic for the winter 😂.
Brilliant ! Can't wait to see what you get ! If your up this end we must organise somthing
@@freak.fishing definitely will try organise something this winter as long as we are allowed to travel haha
Good days fishing. What lake are you on there I’m a Cavan man myself.
@@jasonL2K11 no never been there but do plan in visiting it some time. Seems like a good place, do you be on it much yourself ?
I’m from there I’d fish the rivers mainly and smaller lakes but recently got a boat so looking to start trolling the bigger lakes more. Your vids are a good help 👍
@@jasonL2K11 brilliant ! Great water to have at your doorstep! Always seems to be decent fish coming from it
Really nice pike! When there is such fish around, it is really worth to use those huge baits that you have=)
@@freak.fishing I have a couple of huge soft plastics but have never caught anything on them. I usually use ones below 20 cm.
@@nordic.fishing yes I get what you mean. I'd recommend have one large and one smaller out on the 2 rods and see how it goes.
Perfect congratulations the video tell me please where you trolling in the video
LoL ….the lough Ree , or Shenon ? No be stupid please I’m just nice ask you ? Thank you
What rods do u use for the 40 cm trout
Savage gear sg4 220g, also had it on my diawa 150g and was grand but not ideal
@@paulnolan4324 shimano curado 301 and diawia lexa. Do you use bait casters of fixed spool yourself ?
@@freak.fishing baitcaster but I'm still getting used to it, cracked off 150 quid worth of baits on it and honestly want to switch back to spinning reels every single time hahaha
Do you troll dead baits and if so at what point? Cheers
Havnt trolled deads just yet but use deadbaits anytime after the first frost
Well done some nice fish! A video on planer boards and trolling speed would be great!!
You got it!
