Cool! I don't know how I ran into this video, but it was interesting. My friend wants to get into this and I wanted to see how it was done. You are definitely right. You do not need a large machine. I like more steps, so I'd rather save money and buy the hat press instead of the larger shirt press - if I was doing just a small logo. I like putting more work into something, so I'd actually prefer the more difficult approach (hat press) .
You've got my respect mate for this video, is not everyday that u come across guys like you trying to help basically others. My respect and thank you !
OUTSTANDING Video!! Very informative! I was debating between Print Screen and Heat Transfer, but YOU have convinced me that Heat Transfer is NOT inferior to Print Screens, especially when using the different types of transfer sheets!! THANX for the INFO, mannnn!!
thanx man what you had explain make a lot a sense. i have the same problem you had mention about uneven heating so am now going to get me a heat gun for testing my heat press since i cant afford to buy a much expensive one. thanx man good video.
This video really helped me out. The heat press I bought was a generic brand from a reputable site, and I wasn't sure of the quality. I got a decent IR thermometer from Amazon, and checked it out. It actually runs 10-15 degrees hotter than the display says, but more than that, it's displaying in Fahrenheit instead of Celsius as the unit implies! I'm glad I verified before I started printing things, this video and that thermometer probably saved me a ton of money in lost transfers and shirts!
That's why I made this video Luke. When I had similar problems when I started, no one on forums was prepared to give this answer so I found it out myself. Good luck. Martin
great video!! you the man!! thanks..can you guide me to a vid of yours on printers and how i get to print on the vinyls if you have one?? will look now but incase you get there before me..thanks again

Love the vids and the way you are trying to help people...do you have a video about the different types of vinyls or could you make one explaining their effects and uses not to mention the pros and cons of the product...thanks again keep up the great work...
Hi Martin, could you please let me know the company name and any serial number of the cap heat press you use? I want to order the same one. You actually made me think twice about waiting to save up for the t shirt press and why not just start off with the hat press machine. I love it. Thank you so much.
Hi Martin, am Ben a graphic designer in Ghana and am aspiring to set up my t-shirt business, i know the basics and rules about using heat press but i would like if you would kindly do a video showing all the various materials and processes involved cos i hope to do this on a professional level and will like to know every trick and bit of it. You have been extremely helpful. I want to make my own t shirts. Nothing crazy. a small design here and there. I think I will actually buy a hat press. One question, of did you make the design go on the paper in the first place?
Hi Martin,i have a question,i recently bought a heat press to get me started,(from a branded shop) and have done a few tester heatups so i can see how it does with even heat..i set it at 175 and once it reached temp, (according to the digital clock) i tested with the gun ,the centre read 197 and most edges read 206.......,now this was heating up with it open , to me this seems a huge differ ...so would this be classed as not calibrated properly and should be replaced?.........thank you ..ps thank you so much to you both for doing these videos....i am inspired greatly...Rara
Thanks for the video. I have purchased an ebay press for about $200 US dollars. (i'm in usa) I purchased it strictly for my Airbrushing shirts to heat set the shirts. I heat set them 3-4 times, going around the shirt board. It works GREAT for that..... not so much for transfers. I ordered a small batch and used my press and I have YET to have a successful peel out of 8 so far. DO NOT SKIMP On a press if you're doing transfers!!
hey Martin.. could you please tell 2 things. A good brand for hand held thermometer and the recommended temperature of the heat press for transfer tshirt printing? The specifications of heat presses in the market have a temperature range. What temperature range will be good? Thanks a lot for your help. Amazing video!
Hey bud, I just got a cheap thermometer from Ebay. They are all pretty accurate. The most heat you will need for heat pressing on t shirts would be about 190 deg C Cheers Martin
just bought my heat press. Need to know what's the best transfer paper and where to get it from. I do like the vinyl prints, look like they would last longer on shirts. What machine did you use. So much I don't know. Can you also suggest a tee shirt wholesaler. Tks Martin!
+jess Bradley All that info is in my training dvd at ukinternetmarketingschool.com/my-products/t-shirt-transfer-printing-training-dvd/ You'll also get to email me your questions. Cheers Martin
Hello again Martin, I cant find Ricoh 3110DN here in my country unfortunately. I saw someone using Epson L310 for mug sublimation business. Would you recommend that? Thank you.
Hello Mr. Martin. Thank you so much for your video. I learned a lot. I'm currently 16, and my parents are asking me if I can start a business like this. What do you call that paper you used in printing? Thanks!
Hi. My sublimation images are printing ok, but it leaves a paper residue on the garment and I can clearly see the outline of where the media has been. Is there anything that can remove the paper residue from the garment please. Great videos. Thanks for your help. Mike
HI Mike, We don't use sublimation ink on Transfers, we use dye based ink and when the pics have been printed, we contour cut the transfers to the outline of the image so there is no residue. The transfer papers we use are shown in my training dvd and there is very little residue anyway. ukinternetmarketingschool.com/my-products/t-shirt-transfer-printing-training-dvd/ Cheers Martin
Thx for the advice Martin. My Adkins reported good all round temp. However, what type of protection sheet were you using? When pressing to dark garments (like AWD 100% Polyester) I get a shine from the press process (doesn't happen on cottons). Any clues how to stop it happening?
Hi Martin. I am doing jackets for a customer and for a long time everything was good. They switched brands that use a plastic zipper and I ended up damaging some of them while pressing chest logos. Do you do jacket chest logos and if so do you use your hat press? Thanks
hi martin..thnx for sharing am so interested on this kind of business..wud you advice me what to do? do i have i to go along with your workshop or just buy your dvd? and and where is the workshop to be done? thnx in advance...

Martin, Hi! I have a Heat transfer machine G3 PRESS 3 the transfers don't stick for long enough I just want to find out if it's an useless machine or am i using the wrong transfers? Please i need you're help
You need to check your press with a laser thermometer to see if its heating the whole plate as this will affect transfers sticking if it is not heating up properly. Cheers Martin
Hello Martin, hope you & your wife are all well and good. I have recently purchased an Epson 1500W like yours, I'm just wondering when printing your images do you use the RGB or CMYK colour profiles?
Hi Martin, thinking about starting a T Shirt business, bit worried that the market is now saturated, however your video was good, and I appreciate you have to get the right machine. Cheers Alan
Yes mate! Love your video mate. You're a top bloke! I'm really trying to get up and going with my own business but being quoted silly prices for all my needs. I'd rather do it all myself. I got a few questions. Is there a way we can chat. You sound like your a London fella. I'm too in London. I hope to hear from you soon pal.

Yes that's right it's been printed but one the letters / backing won't peel off all the others have peeled off correctly. Has this happened to u Martin.
Hi, Thank you for your nice video. I just bought the same press like yours in the video. I want to do sublimation on metal plates, zippo lighters and other metal pendants. Can you recommend me the right paper and the right ink for that purpose. Also i wonder betwin two printers: Epson Artisan 1430 vs Ricoh Aficio SG 3110DN. What do you think? Can you recommend me a different model or these ones are fine? Many questions, i hope you have the time to answer them all :-) Best Regards from Gran Canaria
I wish I would have watched your video before purchasing my heat press! I just ordered a Iglobalbuy 8in1 T-shirt Digital Heat Press Machine Transfer Sublimation Hat Mug Cap Plate 15" X 12"- still hasn't arrived yet. But I will definitely be getting a temperature gun to test it out! Thank you for your information!
+Martin Butler Wow! You're fast at responding! I'm actually watching your video now with Sharon! This is my first heat press- I'm purchasing it for my new business- trying out a new thing! :) I've already bookmarked all of your videos. I will be doing marathon watching today!
Thanks fo replying back. I'm from the uk and im trying to start a t shirt printing bussiness but i want a heat press that is reliable like yours but i dont have £1000+ to spend on just the press, can you recommend any other heat press manufacturers that are just as good? i have seen a few combo deals on ebay where you can buy the whole set e.g. printer , heat press, cap press, mug press etc but i dont know if they will be reliable and heat up the entire plate surface! cheers mate
Hi Martin Thank you for sharing your great videos with us. I am going to buy your training video this week. In the mean time I hope you can answer these questions. I am about to buy a Heat Press. It will either be the Stahl auto Clam Hotronix 40x40, or the Adkins beta maxi 16 x20. The Adkins model is suitable for all pressures from light to Heavy, but I cannot find information if the Stahl is suitable for all pressures up to Heavy. Also do you find the 40x40 size platen covers you for most T shirts designs you use? Best Wishes Kath
HI Kath, The Stahl is the same one I have so that's the one for me. It does all you'll need for pressure on all garments. the 40cmx40cm is what we have. Good luck Martin
Do you use just vinyl's or do you use transfer paper too? & do you need a cameo & a vinyl cutter? or do you just have a printer & the cutter? Think I will be purchasing the DVD soon!
Hey there Martin.. i am starting out but plan to press my own hand drawn designs on t shirts etc… I like the look of the hat heat press and as I am doing children's t shirts sound suitable.. What make shall i look for… Thank you B
Mark, after more research on Heat Presses alongside my own standards of quality I'm taking your advice and going with a Hotronix Heat Press. Pretty exciting. I'm now wondering if the additional 200 for a 15x15 vs a 11x15 is worth it. From your experience does it make that much of a difference when for typical shirt design?? Any advice is appreciated.
Martin - what type of paper are you using? The last time I bought transfer paper at an office depot I saw a residue stain the shape of the cutout. It looks like the paper you are using only transfer the ink without leaving a stain.
Hi. When you are talking about that puffy vinyl stuff... is that a type of ink? or how do you get it on the sheets that you heatpress into the shirt? Sorry if this is a stupid question.
HI, Puff vinyl comes on a sheet like standard vinyl. It is flat until you heat it up. You apply it onto your garment like standard clothing vinyl for 10 seconds and you then turn the t shirt over and press for a further 10 seconds and the vinyl then puffs up. Regards
I am looking to buy one. One that is good because i am looking forward to start a business on this. I want to get one that works well very good, but not that expensive. I don't want to buy a cheaper one that will not be good and well not do the job well done. Since you have been working in this business for a long time i think you can help me. I will really appreciate your help. Is this "PowerPress Industrial-Quality Digital 15-by-15-Inch Sublimation T-Shirt Heat Press" a good one? I am looking some in amazon.com www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=heat+press+machine
Hi Brother, I am in Reading and Preach Christianity. I want to set up a t-shirt printing from my garage. I would prefer A3 Heat Press. Which one would you suggest please? I will need that infrared temperature gun as well.
HI Martin Hope u doing good. Just one question, What type of paper i have to keep on to the cloth after fusing the print. Is that silicon paper or teflon.. The one you already place in this video right .. Iam not getting that paper in india. Sandy
Hello Martin, Great video. I am wondering how you know what "expensive" heat presses are good ones. Most of us wont have a digital thermometer like yours to check it. I am just now getting started. There are so many brands and types of heat presses. I found a "DK 20 like new 16x20 on stand" on Craigslist for $900.00. How do I know if that is a good brand or not?
Angie Elkerton HI Angie, All you can really go by is reviews by experienced people. Unfortunately, there are so many companies selling cheap unbranded heat presses that don't heat up evenly, I would recommend that you do some research by either, typing the name of the press and the word "review" into youtube and see what comes up. Also get the name of the press and see if you can find the manufacturer and ask if the heat plate heats up evenly. Hope this helps. Martin
Yes, A hat press can be used for smaller transfers or vinyl's for either sleeves or breast logo's.
Thanks for watching

Yes that's right it's been printed but one the letters / backing won't peel off all the others have peeled off correctly. Has this happened to u Martin.
+Greg Lark Only with old vinyl, try and heat it up again and peel it off hot.
Very well done video!
What is it that you're using to print the design, is it vinyl?
If we print an image, it is on transfer paper otherwise we use colored vinyl.
what brand of transfer paper if you dont mind me asking
Top Man, Thanks im subbing and going thru ALL! i was about to purchase equipment but i knew someone can school me first!
Hi Martin, how do you print white?, as printers (as far as I know) do not have white ink.
thanks Martin, you are always so helpful. you go above and beyond. many thanks
Great video David....informal, informative not pretentious...
hi martin can you tell me how i will know if my heat press is the right one before buying online? just purchased your dvd and excited to get started

Martin
Hi,
Thank you for your nice video.
Many questions, i hope you have the time to answer them all :-)
Best Regards from Gran Canaria
HI, I answer all these questions in my training dvd. Link in the video description. Thanks
hi can i use a SEAL DRY MOUNTING & LAMINATING PRESS JUMBO 150 ...for doing t-shirts thank you for your anticipated response
If it heats up to the required temp and has flat plats, I don't see why not.
Hey, great vid, but where can I buy good quality transfer paper at a decent price in UK?
Hey Martin, I'm looking into purchasing my first heat press soon. What Type and Brand is yours?
Check out my other t shirt vids where I review this Galaxy heat press.

what brand is this heat press and price
I wish I would have watched your video before purchasing my heat press! I just ordered a Iglobalbuy 8in1 T-shirt Digital Heat Press Machine Transfer Sublimation Hat Mug Cap Plate 15" X 12"- still hasn't arrived yet. Hi do you get any fumes when printing this way? thanks
Thanks fo replying back. I'm from the uk and im trying to start a t shirt printing bussiness but i want a heat press that is reliable like yours but i dont have £1000+ to spend on just the press, can you recommend any other heat press manufacturers that are just as good? i have seen a few combo deals on ebay where you can buy the whole set e.g. printer , heat press, cap press, mug press etc but i dont know if they will be reliable and heat up the entire plate surface!
cheers mate
Awch its a good thing i watched the video over again, as i missed out on the second hand machine advice.....Good job Martin...
Well done. It's easy to miss something.

Martin
Thanks for sharing some of your knowledge, Saved me from buying cheap rubbish.
+dumptonpark No problem bud. my first press was rubbish and a waste of money and I had to find out myself.

Martin
+Martin Butler whats a good brand and which is. a bad brand
If a press has a name, you can Google it for reviews. If it has no name, You can not see reviews so I wouldn't buy one with no reviews.

Martin
+Martin Butler oh ok thanks
Hi Martin
Thank you for sharing your great videos with us.
Best Wishes
Kath
HI Kath, The Stahl is the same one I have so that's the one for me. It does all you'll need for pressure on all garments. the 40cmx40cm is what we have.
Good luck
Martin
Thanks Martin, that is a great help. I still have to buy you video. Think I will go for the download version and go get it right now 😄
good luck.

Martin
Hey Martin. what type of printer should i be looking at?
HI Ed, I use a standard inkjet printer with dye based inks. Check out my other vids for more info.

Martin
hi mr. Martin , and Happy new year , i want to ask you Q., can i press vinyl on a t-shirt not 100% cotton (cotton 35% , polyster 65% ), plz answer :)
+ahmad mahariq You should do a test first or ask the supplier if it's ok.
Cheers
Martin
Do you use just vinyl's or do you use transfer paper too? & do you need a cameo & a vinyl cutter? or do you just have a printer & the cutter? Think I will be purchasing the DVD soon!
We mostly use transfer papers and a cameo cutter. This cutter can do vinyl as well.
Martin Butler and does this cameo cutter cuts the required image only from transfer paper also?
It will cut many things including thin card
Thx you again just got a heat press hope it work going to try later following your suggestions
Hey Shirley good luck, hope it goes well.
Well done , thanks mate , I was about to buy cheap one and end up losing money , really thank you for your great help and useful advices
God bless
what is the difference between a sublimation heat press and a regular heat press? which one do you recommend?
+Jamal T there is no difference, A heat press is a heat press.

does it spoil after washing ?
Mark, after more research on Heat Presses alongside my own standards of quality I'm taking your advice and going with a Hotronix Heat Press. Pretty exciting. I'm now wondering if the additional 200 for a 15x15 vs a 11x15 is worth it. From your experience does it make that much of a difference when for typical shirt design?? Any advice is appreciated.
You don't want an 11x15 for t shirts bud, it's too small. 15x15 minimum.
Martin - what type of paper are you using? The last time I bought transfer paper at an office depot I saw a residue stain the shape of the cutout. It looks like the paper you are using only transfer the ink without leaving a stain.
hi ian,
i don't use facebook to promote any business, just to keep in touch with people i know. good luck with your t shirt printing business.
Are you using a plotter to cut your vinyl. and which one do you recommend ?
Peter Bereczki I use a Cameo Silhouette, check out my other vids of me using it.

Martin
I loved this video, very informative. Now I'm ready to buy my first machine! Thank you
+Loyal_Libra_83 Hey, thanks for watching. Good luck.

Hi. When you are talking about that puffy vinyl stuff... is that a type of ink? or how do you get it on the sheets that you heatpress into the shirt? Sorry if this is a stupid question.
HI,
Puff vinyl comes on a sheet like standard vinyl. It is flat until you heat it up. You apply it onto your garment like standard clothing vinyl for 10 seconds and you then turn the t shirt over and press for a further 10 seconds and the vinyl then puffs up.
Regards
kool...so whats the difference between the black hotronix maxx and the silver one..besides the price
+Raymond Harrison Don't know Raymond. Best ask them.

What heat press machines you recommend, that aren't that expensive but they are good? Thank you in advance.
Check out my other vids bud to see what I use.
I am looking some in amazon.com
www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=heat+press+machine
Is the The MAXX® Clam Heat Press one you would recommend for starters?
That is a quality heat press if you can afford one then yes.
Hi Brother,
I am in Reading and Preach Christianity. I want to set up a t-shirt printing from my garage.
I would prefer A3 Heat Press. Which one would you suggest please? I will need that infrared temperature gun as well.
Check out my review on the Galaxy 16x20 heat press. It's what I am using.

Martin
HI Martin

Cheers
Martin
Martin Butler thanx Martin.
Martin
Thank you Martin! Great advice!
