    Thank you for the informative video, great information! Hi, we purchased older heat transfers (vintage) that have thicker paper then the newer transfers being sold at the moment and demonstrated on most videos. Some don't have instructions. What suggestions do you have to figure out time, heat and pressure? They are licensed car transfers, like Ford Chevy GM and can be from around 2010 -2020. Thank you.

    Thank you for this helpful video! So my heat press for a heavy cotton/poly blend sweatshirt should be at 375 degrees instead of 365 degree if I don't have a Hotronix heat press? Also, are there instances where the goof proof screen print will sit more on top like a sticker for instance on a cotton/poly blend, or that just means pressure wasn't enough or temperature wasn't high enough? Thank you so much in advance!

    • @transferexpress
      @transferexpress Рік тому

      We're always happy to help Alexandra! For the temperature, it depends on what transfer type you're using- If you're using Goof Proof screen printed transfers, yes, the temperature should be 370-375 degrees if you have another brand of heat press.
      I would test press a garment to ensure the cotton/poly blend is ok at that temperature. Some lower-cost blanks, certain colorways or high polyester content can be more heat sensitive than others.
      When applied without enough pressure or heat, Goof Proof may appear to sit more 'on-top' of the fabric. Cotton or cotton/poly blended garments should print with a very similar finished result. Typically not enough pressure is the hidden culprit for applications like these.

    Hi Dave and friends! Had a question about layering images with goofproof or other transfers. I know that the printing process eliminates the need for color separations and multiple pressings, but would it be possible to achieve an overprint/layered effect if I applied one transfer and then applied another, or would the 2nd image just sit on top of the first?
    Second question: which transfers are best for halftones? (context: thinking of designing some shirts that have that bootleg band tee aesthetic). Thanks in advance!

    • @transferexpress
      @transferexpress 2 роки тому +1

      Hey Andrew, great questions! Goof Proof inks are pretty opaque, so with most colors the second print will completely cover the first with no overprint effect or "third-color" if that makes sense.
      As for halftones, large stylized halftones are the only kind you can reliably print (the smaller ones just don't have enough surface area with transfers to last 50+ washes), so the absolute minimum for the negative space and the dot itself should be .045" (or equivalent to about 3 pt.)

      But both Goof Proof (if 1-2 color artwork) or UltraColor Max would work great with the smaller details.

      Hi Loree, great question! If kept away from moisture and extreme temperature changes, our screen printed transfers can last up to 10+ years. We put together a video here detailing proper storage... and then we even pressed a 10 year old transfer to see how it turns out: ua-cam.com/video/zTAgqUeUsXw/v-deo.html

    Can you create a video showing a cold peel vinyl done wrong? My vinyl doesn't look right almost wrinkly and you sort of mentioned that in this video but I would love to see what you speak of. Someone told me my shirts are fine but I just don't think so.

      That's a really good question, Kelly just did a great video on this topic on the Stahls TV video released today: ua-cam.com/video/QKaXtGyAUEQ/v-deo.html
      She mentions troubleshooting HTV and some reasons for wrinkling in prints: it may be the shirt is stretched too much over the lower platen when printing which then when removed from the press the shirt rebounds back while the HTV does not.

    Hi there what kind of paper are you using on the video? It doesn't look to be a light color transfer paper nor a dark color one since it has no background. Thank you

      Hi Paula, we're using our Goof Proof Screen Printed Transfers here. They're a plastisol ink transfer that applies to light or dark color fabrics, cotton, polyester or cotton poly blends. You can learn more here: www.transferexpress.com/heat-applied-transfers/goof-proof-screen-printed-transfers
      They're made to emulate the look, feel and durability of a traditional screen print on a t-shirt all without the hassle of the setup and cleanup of screen printing- all you need is a heat press- we'll handle the mess.
      We print the transfers with your artwork (or you can even design online) so you don't need any expensive equipment- just order transfers on demand (our turn times start as quick as the next business day) There's nothing too special about the paper, its more in our process and ink and adhesive formulas- allowing for application (just like we show here) in as few as 4 seconds.

      There's a few different factors that can impact the feel of the print on the shirt (Decoration method, fabric material, application & settings, etc).
      What decoration method and heat press are you using? It also may be a simple pressure adjustment that's required for a better result.

    If you make a mistake and print the elasti print and it sticks to the top heating platen, how do,you clean it off?

    • @transferexpress
      @transferexpress Рік тому

      We've been there before - While the press is still hot, you can bunch up a extra/ruined t-shirt and wipe it off carefully. If the press has cooled down you can turn it back on to help soften the inks.
      Avoid using harsh chemicals, abrasive materials or metal scrapers as they may damage the coating on the heating element.
      We put a video together a few years ago on some heat press cleaning tips: ua-cam.com/video/3F7qWhU-JBE/v-deo.html

    I accidently printed my picture upside down on my tshirt, is there a way to fix it?

    • @transferexpress
      @transferexpress 4 місяці тому

      The short answer, most likely not. In many cases you would not be able to completely remove the print without damaging the garment itself. It's typically much more effective to reprint on a new garment.
      Depending on what specific kind of heat transfer you used it may be possible: Heat Transfer Vinyl can be removed with Vinyl Remover, but some adhesive or staining may remain on the garment. You can also try heating from the inside of the garment and then try to carefully remove the decoration.

    Hello! I'm having trouble with my transfers release on my Ultra Color Soft transfers. I wait until it's cold and it's still hard to get off. I tired to use another transfers I had and it came off fine.
    HELP!

    • @transferexpress
      @transferexpress Рік тому

      Oh no Karen, I'm sorry to hear you're having application issues. What heat press are you using, are you pre-pressing the garment prior to decoration and what pressure do you have your press set at? You can try with increased pressure to see if it helps the application. Be sure you're at the proper heat setting for the fabric you're applying to: 340-360 for cotton & cotton/poly blends or 290-320 for 100% polyester garments.
      Please submit a resolution from your account dashboard at transferexpress.com so we can take a closer look and fix this issue for you.

      Hello I have a Phoenix heat press.
      I'm preheating the 100% polyester t shirts first. I'M USING medium pressure.

    • @transferexpress
      @transferexpress Рік тому

      If our team hasn't answered your resolution yet, you can try applying at 300 degrees (check to ensure the garment wont scorch) and press at 12 seconds on a firm pressure. Remove the garment from the press and allow to cool to room temperature before peeling (5 minutes). Use the supplied paper coversheet to avoid any static from the press that may pull the carrier up when the press is opening.
      If you haven't already, please submit a resolution as UltraColor Soft is typically an effortless application on 100% polyester garments. If something went awry with the transfers we will be there to support you and replace.

      Hey Christian, I'm sorry you're having application issues, we'd love to help. First: Please submit a resolution through your account dashboard at transferexpress.com- Our team will review every detail of your order and be able to help (and possibly even test your transfers). You'll be able to upload photos so the team can have the best way to help. If some of the tips here I'll detail here work, GREAT! but, If they don't our team will be on it to help and replace your transfers if needed.
      Are you pre-pressing your shirts? In humid climates, 100% cotton t-shirts are going to absorb moisture from the air which steams out when it's on press. It's best to pre-press the blank to get that moisture out of the shirt so it's not pushing up through the ink when you're trying to press ink down.
      With your heat press, we recommend increasing the temperature by 10 degrees: For Goof Proof on 100% cotton your press should be set to 375. Goof Proof requires a firm pressure, so without a digital pressure readout, load a shirt on the press and increase pressure until the press is very hard to close, then back off slightly until you can close it (it should still have some resistance to it). Press for the 4-6 seconds recommended. You can also try the "dollar bill" test we detail here: www.transferexpress.com/videos/how-to-test-temperature-and-pressure-of-heat-press
      As with some of the more budget-friendly heat presses out there, they may need a minute to recover temperature after pressing, so while the first couple might print fine, the temperature loses too much heat and you may find some ink staying on the carrier sheet.
      With accurate time, temperature and pressure you should be able to get perfect, consistent applications- Let us know if these work, and please submit a resolution so our dedicated team can take care of you.
