It is way better looking in real life than I expected. I wasn't planning on keeping it until I finished building it. Now it has the full Tamiya carbon chassis upgrade lol.
I love watching your videos. They are very helpful and informative. This is the way I am thinking of painting a few bodies, the darkest color last because its going to be the smallest area that's exposed.
Uowwwww Gavin, you always inspire me to build more and better. This Calibra Will come into my workshop for sure. Very good Job and explanations as always, brilliant. Thanks rckicks for the energy.
I have several vintage TA02s but none of them run good with the stock 27t silver can motors. Even with the smallest pinion, they still seem over geared. I’ve had to put 35 turn motors in them and they work perfect! No more over heating and loads of low end torque.
G’day Gavin, I’ve just bought one on Tuesday. I’ve just received my bearings and I’m putting a brushless GoolRC combo in it. I might paint mine blue! Love the program.
Hi Gavin. I noticed your technique for applying the window maskings…..have you considered using the technique recommended by Tamiya? It should be depicted on either the front or rear screens. You slice a section away from middle and tack it in place. It works beautifully. So beautifully I do that for almost all the decals and masks. Near perfect alignment and no bubbles. Just a suggestion!
Great video Gavin I just ordered the calibra v6 and the Mercedes kit looking forward to seeing you build the Mercedes good luck iam not looking forward to doing the bodys 😬😬😬
Good looking car. Question for you about what remote controller you use. With all the newer box builds Tamiya I have now thinking of just getting one remote for them all.
Love that calibra body, superb paint job. I have just bought 2 TT02R chassis kits will this calibra shell and the killer merc 190E touring car you built fit on them correctly?
This has to be one of the best body shells and livery’s in Tamiyas touring car schemes, i loved it back in the day when it originally came out, and I love it enough today to source a body kit for my TA02 Escort Cosworth. Would you know what the Tamiya body kit number would be Gavin. Awesome video, those decals were a challenge to get looking good 😊. 😎👍👍👍🇬🇧
Per capita, my impression is that the UK has more interest in Tamiya kits and better distribution than the US; you get the kits prior to the States. My local store, a Hobbytown, is dominated by RTR off-road. I’ve seen no more than two Tamiya kits in stock, both RWD off-road; locally, there’s practically no kit interest nor on-road tracks.
We got the VQS in the States before UK, so I think you may be talking about the Top Force Evo delays, I believe it was because Tamiya did not want to ship kits with the incorrect TBLE-02 as people here would just return the kit. I agree there is more interest and potentially more money to be made selling Arma and Traxxas as people bash them around and break things, they end up buying lots of spare parts to repair and that customer would also pay for repairs, where the Tamiya customer would do all the work him/herself
@Guillermo Mora My local Hobbytown employs a good amount of staff who repair RC cars for people; they don’t even bother fixing their own RTR cars so kits are out of the question.
@RC Ya Later... The owner of my favorite hobby store back in Antiquity spent most of his time repairing RC cars for people and this was prior to the RTR takeover. I was exclusively an RC airplane guy at the time and this made me wonder if RC cars were that difficult. Many people lack patience, interest, and thus basic mechanical skill. The mindset of “normies” is alien to a hobbyist.
I wish Tamiya make a road version Calibra shell without the horrible DTM body kit. They could make one with the Irmscher bodykit if the kit is needed for body rigidity, however it doesn't really look like a Calibra as it is. Ex owner of a 1:1 scale Calibra Turbo 4X4 which had the Irmscher kit, so would like an RC car like my old car....
@@RCKickschannel lol I'm the same I only have the one . A losi dbxle 2.0 and it's heavy and big . What area are you based I'm in Warwickshire near Stratford upon Avon
That is one hell of a good looking car! And you make painting and doing the decals look so easy. Great job dude!!
Enjoyed this build so much. Can't wait to buy it once I have more pocket money.
Beautiful build mate! Nice looking car. The box cover does it no justice. Cheers

Do the cockpit if you can find one. They are really worth it. Great build.
huge fan of the cut wheel arches from factory. Awesome shit.
Great content from Gavin as always!
Alloy motor mount is a must for ta02s ta01s... plastic one will break after few runs...
Looks great! Great video. I have a 21 year old Opel and don't even remember how I got the decals on so perfect.

Great video and great work on the placement pf the decals.

My first touring car was the Alfa Romeo version of the TA02.
TA02>>>>>>>>>>TT02, keep them coming Tamiya
You are like master zen when it comes to decals.
Thats a belter of a RC. Looks great.
I'm digging this music starting around 3:10!
Holy cow you made that decal sheet look like short work . That looks so clean Man. Good job

Looks great Gavin 🤩
こんな複雑なマーキングを綺麗に貼っていくのが凄いと思います。
Hi Gavin that's Opel stickers you've right you can get the voxall stickers four that model
That is a great looking car.
Iconic video. I love watching this kind of stuff because it shows your advanced skills. I'm not saying this to impress you 🤘😎
Great build and a lovely paint job 😎👍 had to edit, epic paint job 🤩
Looks awesome, was wondering if I’d go for the Opel but seeing your great job I’m going to order it!! Wife says “Thanks Gavin 🙄” 😂😂
Heehhe
Dam that body looks amazing looks better than the one i had back in the day
So true 🤔
Still waiting and now i c there coming out with the cliff version super nice
Cliff version is a tt01 type E chassis so you want the TA02 as its a much cooler chassis to have under the body.
That looks sweet man. I need one in my life
Good job! 👌
Chassis conversion coming for it soon
@@RCKickschannel It's good to make the lower deck protector from lexan sheet. 👌
Never owned a TA-Series Chassis. Definitely going to have to have a go at one!!

What dous the kit not enclude?
The decals take so long. But it looks so good when done. Looks great!!
Very nice
I could never do that with a modeling knife. I always go crooked and off the lines 😂
Another quality build Gavin,I think you'd be mad to let that Escort go though, just get more shelves lol
Good looking car. Question for you about what remote controller you use. With all the newer box builds Tamiya I have now thinking of just getting one remote for them all.
Hi, I did a few videos on controllers. You can find them in the channel archives 👍🏻
Looks stunning! How is this chassis competing against a TT-02 or TT-01E in performance?
I'm still waiting for mine ... *crying*
Would you spray a clearcoat over the decal layer to keep them from lifting?
No not really. The only time I do that on polycarbonate is when I want a flat finish for Sat a rally car.
Love that calibra body, superb paint job.
I have just bought 2 TT02R chassis kits will this calibra shell and the killer merc 190E touring car you built fit on them correctly?
What wheels did you put on when testing it?
Sad to see the Escort go...she was such a beauty!
Space and the money can go into another project for the channel.

Hi Mike, I'm not sure of the body set but email L&LModels, I know sometimes he sells the body set separate from the chassis on some kits.
Love this, I’m pretty new to these kits. How much more difficult is this kit compared to the grasshopper?
The body is the hard part. The chassis will be fine
@@RCKickschannel thank you!

I have the calibra but with the tt01e chassis! Is this the modern equivelant of your review model?
This is the vintage rerelease. This is the chassis it came on originally
Great build. But!... That Opel badge on the hood is not straight. Looks a bit bad. 😬
You should try liquid mask
I had a go once but I just couldn't get nice sharp edges. I need to try another liquid mask product.
@@RCKickschannel love watching all you builds . Have you ever tried the 1/5 electric scale cars
Even the new studio struggles to deal with just one 1/5th The XMAXX has taken over so no chance of another lol

Can u please in future vids dont show us the finished car before the vid has started cause it kinda ruins the vid sory for bad english
Why is the large opel logo on the piss 🧐
I like it to look like a lightning bolt hehehe
No brushless motors, nothing assembled, $200! Not worth a 50.
