Yes!!! Because I know im a stay at home mom and I do feel so guilty asking hubs for help at any point during the week (even though he will say I will help - please wake me up) but I just never do 😢😢😢😢 so I wonder how it works out with Zac working and also helping with babes at night / middle of the night
Fun fact from a nurse: Breast milk produced at night contains more melatonin for baby! You can differentiate day/night milk to use to your benefit! Example: Giving night time milk at night to promote better sleep!
I had stopped watching you tube, last videos i watched was you in charlston. I just binged so many videos. You got a house, married, a dog and a baby. I feel like life just flashed so quickly 😂 parenting looks great on you and zac! ❤
He is definitely listening to you read to him, he just can’t conceptualize that it’s coming from the book yet. He will at about 8 months. Keep doing it every day. 💜It is expanding his world exponentially. I love his name and he is a beautiful boy.! Congratulations!
My baby girl was born on October 13 and I’ve been watching these videos through your pregnancy till now. I feel like we’re the exact same person and watching your Vlogs about your day-to-day life makes me feel so seen! You’re doing amazing! ❤️
Clancy I really really love your longer vlogs so so so much💖💫🥹 and whenever you posts a New Vlog it's makes my day instantly sending you lots of love to you and your family
Clancy your playtime with decker was adorable!!!!!!! I absolutely loved it with the sloth and Dino that melted my heart! I have a 2 month old FTM! These times are so precious
I used to watch your early early morning vlogs years ago when you worked for the news. I lost touch with the channel for a bit but I’m doing some catch up and loving seeing you as a new mom! What an exciting time in your life! Thank you so much for sharing with us ❤❤
Watching your new Mom videos brings back so many memories of when my kids were babies .. I love it! And I relate so much to the breastfeeding! It’s so challenging, but I would give so much to have those days back Clancy
You’re doing a wonderful job. Right now is probably too early for a routine/schedule, but in time that will come. We hired a sleep doula when our first born was around 6 months and she gave us so many helpful tools and it was at that point that a schedule was introduced. It was so good and life changing. The things we learned helped us with our other 2 children that came along.
Breast feeding was my trigger for severe postpartum anxiety. I did it 4 months with my first, 1 with my second. Pumped for a bit with both and then switched to formula. You are doing great! And I live in Canada, bundle up and go out in the cold you both need it! Even just drive to the mall and walk around.
I’ll be honest. That was such a heartwarming moment when Zac was taking pics when you were giving Decker his bath. 🥹 I do respect and admire you not fully showing Decker. So, I guess when you share those family moments it’s so special. Really loving your mom era Clancy. 😊
You are hilarious with Decker 😂 my son is 14 months old and just started really enjoying books about a month ago. Also you are absolutely killing it being a mom!!!
Clancy- let me save you before it’s too late! Marathon nursing for bedtime is going to come back to bite you by the time he’s 6 months old!! Feed him awake with the lights on and “put” him to sleep after
I don’t think I’ve ever commented but I’ve been watching you since the Glam and Gossip videos 😂 but I LOVE these videos. I wish I had them to watch when my son was born 4 years ago because you give such a REAL picture of what newborn life is like
My son also didnt care about me reading to him lol I also felt offended but now at 1 years old he bring his book and asks me to read for him. So precious
Loved this video ❤ you make me want to have a family! I’m afraid because I know how hard it is but I’m sure those precious moments make it all worth it.
Cloth diapers on your shoulder or chest are great to catch spit up. Leaving you less soiled. Burb cloths work great as well. Or just a plain old towel across your chest. Talk to dr. if Decker is spitting up alot. Burping well helps with spit up unless it is acid reflux. Great to see you so happy
We read to our daughter pretty much every day after she was born as part of our nighttime routine. As she got older we would do 2-3 books and talk about different things on the pages-colors, counting things, animal noises, etc. When she was in elementary and had to read 20 minutes a day at home for class, we would take turns reading. By 4th grade she was reading at a 9th grade level and was a voracious reader. As an adult, she has an extensive vocabulary and excellent writing skills. I also didn’t talk to her with baby talk. I talked to her with age appropriate language but not in a babyish voice. When we were driving, we’d listen to audiobooks or talk about things around us. You may not think they are paying attention but it all adds up.
You're doing such a great job! I can relate to SO much of what you've shared. My second is 7 months old and for both of our kiddos we've used a lot of Taking Cara Babies' methods. I always try to recommend her to every mama because she helped us get into some healthy sleep habits. I'm type A also and each kid has thrown me for a huge loop. Routines do get there, eventually. Keep up the good work! And keep enjoying this precious time 🥰
My advice Clancy? Go with the flow (as you have been doing) it’s hard in the beginning no schedule is normal! Babies have their schedule period which means none! You’re doing a great job! It gets better as he gets bigger he will interact with you more! I use to take my daughter in the stroller to walk in the mall. Also find a mom’s group to hang out with. The support you need! 🥰❤️
Don’t worry about the crib for naps until 4-6 months. Let him sleep on you, in the car, in the carrier. Wherever. It’s more important he sleeps, not where.
I pumped for my singleton and twin boys, it's a full time job and you're doing amazing. TIP: take the air out of the milk bags! Air inside could produce freezer burn faster. And it fits better in the freezer, better if you lay them flat to freeze and then store them. Will save space in the freezer
I’m not sure if you’ve mentioned this in past videos but getting air out of the breastmilk bag before freezing can reduce the freezer burn taste on the milk!
You are such an amazing momma! You have a great routine, even thoug it’s not always picture perfect I’m sure (I’m a mom too) but I’m so excited for your family ❤
When my sons were that little I often just took them in my baby carrier and went for a walk. They would contact nap and I was moving my body. Might be an idea for walking Asher and let the little one sleep. Listening to an audiobook at the same time felt like a little bit of me time, too 😊
Tip from a mom with a 9 month old: Make sure to thaw out and check a bag of your frozen milk to see if you have high lipase!! I didn’t check until like 3 months in and realized I have it. You will notice right away because it smells/tastes like metal. A lot of babies don’t like it so it is good to check if Decker will like it before freezing tons of milk. If you do have it, freezing milk immediately after pumping helps with the high lipase(for me atleast). You’re doing great, mama!
I breastfed during the night and then pumped all my milk during the day. This made me have a huge over supply but I was able to store 6 months worth of breastmilk so I could stop 6 months early and omg I’m so glad I did that so I totally get where you’re coming from!
I exclusively breastfed all three of my babies, and rarely pumped. But when I did, I absolutely hated it! You’re a rockstar for being so diligent with it. Once you have a decent freezer stash, hopefully you can start just breastfeeding more. I feel like you’ll get so much time back in your day.
My baby was the same. He would not nap in the crib or bed, etc. I finally gave up and just held him for all naps. Sometimes I would just hold him or have him in my carrier and I could still do things around the house. I wanted him to nap to avoid over tiredness and fussiness.
Clancy! I know you say you feel like you need to pump..but you don’t. Your supply will never regulate if you don’t let your baby set the pace. Right now you are creating an oversupply. If decker is sleeping through the night, you need to let your milk production follow that schedule. Yes, you will be engorged for a day or two in the mornings, but then your body will adjust! As long as he empties your breasts in the morning, you will not get clogged. So many moms think they need to pump when it’s completely unnecessary unless you need a milk stash if you work or leave the house for over 2 hours. Don’t torture yourself. (I’ve exclusively breastfed 4 kiddos, zero pumping and no bottles.)
Your supply will adjust based on his needs. Pumping like you are will continue to create an oversupply. Totally fine if you want that but if you exclusively BF your supply will quickly adjust accordingly.
Something that REALLY helped me when I had two dogs and small children was scheduling a puppy camp one or two days a week. I found a really fantastic local place and we would drop them off in the morning and pick them up around dinner. They got to play all day with other dogs, came home exhausted, and it also gave me a much needed break from the constant worry if I was doing enough. It was good for everyone. Read reviews on your cities camps and dog owners are always super honest. Will run you maybe $20-40 a day but it's the best investment for this phase of life!
I wonder if little man is efficiently feeding on the breast, because a baby can empty us like no pump ever can. Have you seen a LS since decker has gotten a little older (not old hehe but ya no not 2 days old )

I literally have it sitting in a box, unused, because I was so confused on how to use it!! hahaha I'm definitely going to look into that -- thank you!!!
I know it just seems like another thing you’ll have to clean and I totally get that but if used correctly, it is totally worth it. I could sometimes collect 3-4 ounces from each side just while baby was nursing on the other!!
Random thought, do you have a fenced in yard or a way to put in a doggie door on the basement door so Asher can go out on his own to potty? Good job momma, you are doing a great job balancing it all❤
Hey clancy!! So the reason it took so long to get decker down is probably because his bedtime just wasnt late enough! My son (now 1) wouldnt go down til 9:30-10:30pm in the first couple of months so maybe just try shifting things a bit later and it may help!! Xx
Any tips with getting him to take a bottle and what brand do you use? I have a 3 week old and I’ve exclusively breast fed her, tried to give her a bottle of breast milk last night and she didn’t like it.
Breast feeding gets way easier in a few months. I hated it but I stuck with it not that you have to but early on I was not vibing. Now it doesn’t hurt my boobs just stopped leaking all the time and all that. It’s honestly hard to try and become an oversupplier to be done with breastfeeding because that will cause your supply to get so high that you’ll always need to pump so it’ll continue to make milk. I did get a clogged duct but you HAVE to keep feeding them on it, I popped the milk bleb, which online it says not to but it’s definitely worth it because if the milk dries in the duct it literally is so painful, my entire boob hurt and I had to use a heating pad on my chest like all the time. Ugh it’s so hard honestly. I just hated pumping personally
Happy Saturday, Clancy!😊😊😊😊😊😎☀💙💙💙💙💙💙💙🎄❄🌷💖💖💖💖💖💖💖🎄❄⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐👍. I'm so glad that you're a hard workin woman with amazing ideas about becoming a nurse. WOW!!😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍👍

Have you tried putting the haaka on the other one while he is on the other?
This was a great hack for me!
He’s beautiful. All babies are different but what worked for me was to give a bottle-warm it-right at bedtime instead of nursing at that time. Then you are sure they are getting the ounces in before bedtime.
Clancy, have you tried the haakaa? I would highly recommend that for when he’s nursing, place that on the other side. It was extremely helpful and a great way to collect your let down!
