Because I know im a stay at home mom and I do feel so guilty asking hubs for help at any point during the week (even though he will say I will help - please wake me up) but I just never do 😢😢😢😢 so I wonder how it works out with Zac working and also helping with babes at night / middle of the night

Fun fact from a nurse: Breast milk produced at night contains more melatonin for baby! You can differentiate day/night milk to use to your benefit! Example: Giving night time milk at night to promote better sleep!

You’re doing a wonderful job. Right now is probably too early for a routine/schedule, but in time that will come. We hired a sleep doula when our first born was around 6 months and she gave us so many helpful tools and it was at that point that a schedule was introduced. It was so good and life changing. The things we learned helped us with our other 2 children that came along.

Cloth diapers on your shoulder or chest are great to catch spit up. Leaving you less soiled. Burb cloths work great as well. Or just a plain old towel across your chest. Talk to dr. if Decker is spitting up alot. Burping well helps with spit up unless it is acid reflux. Great to see you so happy

We read to our daughter pretty much every day after she was born as part of our nighttime routine. As she got older we would do 2-3 books and talk about different things on the pages-colors, counting things, animal noises, etc. When she was in elementary and had to read 20 minutes a day at home for class, we would take turns reading. By 4th grade she was reading at a 9th grade level and was a voracious reader. As an adult, she has an extensive vocabulary and excellent writing skills.
I also didn’t talk to her with baby talk. I talked to her with age appropriate language but not in a babyish voice. When we were driving, we’d listen to audiobooks or talk about things around us. You may not think they are paying attention but it all adds up.

I pumped for my singleton and twin boys, it's a full time job and you're doing amazing. TIP: take the air out of the milk bags! Air inside could produce freezer burn faster. And it fits better in the freezer, better if you lay them flat to freeze and then store them. Will save space in the freezer

  • @camicampov

Tip from a mom with a 9 month old: Make sure to thaw out and check a bag of your frozen milk to see if you have high lipase!! I didn’t check until like 3 months in and realized I have it. You will notice right away because it smells/tastes like metal. A lot of babies don’t like it so it is good to check if Decker will like it before freezing tons of milk. If you do have it, freezing milk immediately after pumping helps with the high lipase(for me atleast). You’re doing great, mama!

I breastfed during the night and then pumped all my milk during the day. This made me have a huge over supply but I was able to store 6 months worth of breastmilk so I could stop 6 months early and omg I’m so glad I did that so I totally get where you’re coming from!

  • @emmadocious

I exclusively breastfed all three of my babies, and rarely pumped. But when I did, I absolutely hated it! You’re a rockstar for being so diligent with it. Once you have a decent freezer stash, hopefully you can start just breastfeeding more. I feel like you’ll get so much time back in your day.

My baby was the same. He would not nap in the crib or bed, etc. I finally gave up and just held him for all naps. Sometimes I would just hold him or have him in my carrier and I could still do things around the house.
I wanted him to nap to avoid over tiredness and fussiness.

  • @Angelina-sn1pz
    @Angelina-sn1pz 4 дні тому +1

Clancy! I know you say you feel like you need to pump..but you don’t. Your supply will never regulate if you don’t let your baby set the pace. Right now you are creating an oversupply. If decker is sleeping through the night, you need to let your milk production follow that schedule. Yes, you will be engorged for a day or two in the mornings, but then your body will adjust! As long as he empties your breasts in the morning, you will not get clogged.
So many moms think they need to pump when it’s completely unnecessary unless you need a milk stash if you work or leave the house for over 2 hours.
Don’t torture yourself. (I’ve exclusively breastfed 4 kiddos, zero pumping and no bottles.)

Your supply will adjust based on his needs. Pumping like you are will continue to create an oversupply. Totally fine if you want that but if you exclusively BF your supply will quickly adjust accordingly.

Something that REALLY helped me when I had two dogs and small children was scheduling a puppy camp one or two days a week. I found a really fantastic local place and we would drop them off in the morning and pick them up around dinner. They got to play all day with other dogs, came home exhausted, and it also gave me a much needed break from the constant worry if I was doing enough. It was good for everyone. Read reviews on your cities camps and dog owners are always super honest. Will run you maybe $20-40 a day but it's the best investment for this phase of life!

Until my babies were 9 mos or so I read MY books aloud to them. Whatever novel I was reading, I just read aloud to them. It killed two birds with one stone - I got to read what I wanted to read and they were hearing a diverse vocabulary of words. Once they were sitting and more attentive, I switched to baby/picture books all the time.

Breast feeding gets way easier in a few months. I hated it but I stuck with it not that you have to but early on I was not vibing. Now it doesn’t hurt my boobs just stopped leaking all the time and all that. It’s honestly hard to try and become an oversupplier to be done with breastfeeding because that will cause your supply to get so high that you’ll always need to pump so it’ll continue to make milk. I did get a clogged duct but you HAVE to keep feeding them on it, I popped the milk bleb, which online it says not to but it’s definitely worth it because if the milk dries in the duct it literally is so painful, my entire boob hurt and I had to use a heating pad on my chest like all the time. Ugh it’s so hard honestly. I just hated pumping personally

You should get a red light bulb! Red light stimulates melatonin production. It can help regulate babies' sleep cycles and promote better nighttime sleep.

Heyy if you really wanted to capture each diaper and change, bottle wash, spit up, etc. you could do like a tally count screen with a time stamp so it shows it happened, but then you don’t have to burn the film space actually showing it.
