Thank you Mr Llwellyn for your input and history that can't be replicated on black Scorpio sound system!! Many men have suffered hunger and hardship , loyalty to be part of Jamaican sound system. Many have died and passed away but " Black Scorpio sound system" will always conquer our minds and hearts. Stay blessed my brother. 🙏
Thi is probably the first vintage dance hall videoi i am hearing with this audio quality.you can actually hear the bass mid and highs . I understand though its the quality of the recording equipment they had available at that time.
@@raycyst007 that is most interesting. Most times I got a feed from the sound system or the stage mixer. At the time recording to audio cassette was a lucrative business for some people, so at times my feed would be compromised by people trying to get a good feed for themselves. People would literally pay the sound man to get a feed and in order to please himself financially he would try to split the feed for as many as possible and someone usually gets screwed during the event. I did not have a problem most times as the promoter was eager to ensure my feed was ok. What is happening now is that I lost quite a few of my video masters to tape deterioration, so I am posting many B roles and at times the B rolls are the stage camera, so the sound won't be as clear as it's not a line feed.
@@LeoOReggio "lost quite a few of my video masters to tape deterioration" heart-breaking, this is Jamaica's finest musical period & you have the best videos I've ever seen. You should get yourself interviewed so we all have a record of the dances you recorded.
@@raycyst007this happened because i never filmed as a business or with plans to air these videos later on in life. I did it as i loved attending dance parties and stage shows, and i wanted to provide artists with access to filming their videos, at a time when getting pro equipment was hugely expensive, so i provided that access, for fun. If I was more business-like I would have cuddled my tapes. I am now retired from 9 to 5 work, so I am doing this, as the opportunity is there, on UA-cam..

Since I heard the tune Music Tonight I knew Barry Back was a serious hidden talent. Man deserved many more tunes than he got to record. High caliber deejay!! What a treat to see him, Shuka shine, and General Twos on video. A lot of talent from this era slipped through the fingers of the industry. And Leo - love the B-roll on this one. Top video
I have to respectfully disagree with what you wrote about Barry Back and Shuka shine. Basically from 1984 to 1989 General Trees carried Black Scorpio especially in sound clashes without much help so far as im concerned. Other big sounds like Jammys, Metro, Stereo One, Jaro, Stereo One, Creation had at least 3 top tier DJs they could count on. I heard Trees myself before he got big in 1984 as a teenager and I knew he was bad from then. I don't even rate his teacher Sassafrass, I could even kill Sassa lyrically today if Sassa was on one sound and im on another in the same lawn.
